This picture tells a story about a dog who aims to please 😂 Rose and I have been through a few missed breedings where I was hopefully checking her belly every day looking for signs of babies. And- of course- until this pregnancy was confirmed I was doing the same thing the last few weeks. She has started to randomly offer me a view of her tummy sometimes when I look at her hoping for a treat or a belly rub. It's SO fun to finally see a little baby bump growing there. Squeee!!! Rose is going to be the best mama ever. So excited for this litter.

Rose gave us the best 🎄 present we could hope for. She's expecting puppies with Valor. Rose is the granddaughter of our foundation dogs Lucy and Sam. She was born right here at OM retrievers 3 years ago. She's my princess and the best good girl I've had the privilege of living with. Rose is an actual example of a mixed breed dog who has the best qualities of all her ancestor breeds. Some of you may be surprised we decided to breed Rose after losing her mom, Ruby suddenly to cancer at age 5. Im writing a blog post for Companion Dog Project about this difficult and complicated decision; stay tuned if you're interested. I couldn't be more excited to meet these babies. I have great expectations for exceptional temperaments in this litter.

Does anyone else in a multi dog household notice this pattern of dogs mirroring each others positions? Rose used to do this with her mom and now that Ruby is gone, she and Valor are often lying in identical ways. Happens too often to be a coincidence.

Charlotte had her vaccine appointment today. She's really good at focusing in new places and with distractions. She didn't even notice the barking dogs next door.

Tom captured this perfect example of Grandma Lucy, our matriarch, correcting baby Charlottes face leaping. It's wonderful to have adult dogs who are skilled at puppy raising. Once Charlotte has learned some basic etiquette, Lucy will engage in play with her. In case you're wondering, Lucy is wearing a sleeve to protect a spot on her arm that is healing.
