Today we say goodbye and good luck to Isabel Derrick, Pawster's Community Engagement Coordinator for the last year!

Last month, Isa began the Master's program in Community Development and Action at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College.

Isa started as a Pawster Foster when she was a student at Belmont University. Since then, she has fostered 10 dogs for Pawster and transported countless others as a Pet Chauffeur.

But then 1 year ago, an amazing opportunity arose: Isa became Pawster's Americorps member serving as our first Community Engagement Coordinator. When the Americorps program was ended, our board of directors decided Isa's contributions were too valuable to lose and hired her in a staff position.

During the last year, Isa:

🎪 Planned and coordinated volunteers to ensure Pawster's presence at over 35 community events.
🥳 Recruited 76 volunteers to work Pawster's table at community events
📆 Created and implemented a monthly social media calendar
🎨 Completed a visual brand overhaul of Pawster's social media accounts
🐶 Expanded Pawster's recruitment of new fosters and pet chauffeurs, for a total of 95 new volunteer fosters homes and 26 new pet chauffeurs over the last year.

To Isa: THANK YOU for your work with Pawster and for all you've done to help support people and pets through hard times.

We can't wait to see all that you do for our community and the world!

FUZZY and TOOTHLESS are a sweet pair of 5-year-old cats looking for a safe place to land while their family gets back on their feet. Fuzzy may be shy when new people visit, but once she feels safe, her gentle and loving personality shines through. She adores treats, laser pointers, and toy mice, and she has a soft, affectionate side that makes her a wonderful companion. Toothless is the more outgoing of the two—playful, energetic, and full of personality. She loves attention, snuggles, and will happily come running if she hears the crinkle of a food wrapper. Both are litter-trained indoor cats who just need a calm, patient foster home to give them time to settle in.

JANIE is a 7-month-old black and white mix with a heart as big as her smile. She’s an affectionate, goofy pup who loves belly rubs and has a funny habit of “corncobbing” your ears or neck when she’s feeling extra cuddly. Janie is still young, but she’s eager to please and learns quickly with structure and patience. She does well with other dogs and loves being part of the pack, but cats aren’t really her cup of tea. Janie thrives on attention, playtime, and being close to her people, so she’ll do best in a home where she’s not left alone for long stretches.

Meet MOMMA, a sweet and loyal 3-year-old Labrador Retriever/Coonhound mix with a heart as big as her name suggests. Momma is a 45-pound beauty with a sleek black coat, white markings, and soulful eyes that can win anyone over. She’s crate trained and happiest spending time with her people. She’s affectionate and playful, but since she can be a bit strong and bouncy, she’d do best in a home without very small kids who might get knocked over. With her friendly nature, good manners, and loving personality, Momma will make a wonderful foster friend while her family gets back on their feet.

Lemon and her big sister Luelle came to Pawster last week when their owner lost housing. And then Lemon, only 4 months old, went straight to Pet Community Center to get spayed, vaccinated and microchipped!

Now she is recovering with her Pawster Foster and getting all the love. She will be glad to get out of this cone and finally get to settle in!

Hi, I’m Caroline!

I’m a 6-month-old (female, spayed) mixed breed with a beautiful brown-and-white coat and a whole lot of puppy charm. I’m ready to find my forever family who will love me and watch me grow into an even more wonderful dog!

I’m playful, outgoing, and always up for an adventure. I especially love water—splashing around is one of my favorite things! I adore my foster siblings, both the human kind and the canine kind, and I fit right in with the pack. Oh, and guess what? I even play basketball!

I’ve learned that my crate can be a cozy, safe space when I need to rest. With a little patience, consistency, and lots of love, I know I’ll keep growing into an amazing companion.

If you’re looking for a sweet, spirited, and fun-loving pup who’s guaranteed to brighten your days, I think I might just be the one for you. Could we be the perfect match?

FEATURED FOSTER FRIDAY: Tuesday+Igor, Louie and Arlow

TUESDAY and IGOR are a sweet bonded pair looking for a safe, loving foster home together while their person gets back on their feet. Igor, a 4-year-old black Domestic Shorthair, is a curious and affectionate boy who warms up quickly, loves to play, and isn’t shy about asking for attention—he gets along well with cats, dogs, and kids. His companion Tuesday, a beautiful 18-year-old grey Domestic Longhair, is a gentle senior lady who enjoys wet food, quiet naps in sunny spots, and the calm companionship of a kind person. Together, this duo balances playful energy with peaceful relaxation, offering the perfect mix of joy and comfort to anyone willing to open their home and heart to them.

LOUIE is a 3-year-old, 50-pound big white teddy bear of a pup who’s ready to find a safe and loving foster home until he can be reunited with his family. He’s crate trained, loves people of all ages, and has a sweet, easygoing personality. Louie does great with cats, kids, and most other dogs—though he prefers not to share space with other males. He’s been living outdoors this past year, so he may need a little refresher on house training, but with his smart, eager-to-please nature, he’ll settle back into indoor life quickly. Louie is looking for a foster who can give him a cozy spot to land, some consistency, and plenty of love until he’s back with his family.

ARLOW is a 3-year-old, 30-pound golden girl with a gentle heart and playful spirit. She’s been living outdoors this past year, so she may need some reminders about house training, but she’s eager to please and will adjust quickly with patience and routine. Arlow adores people of all ages and gets along well with dogs, cats, and kids, making her an easy companion in almost any home. She’s not yet crate trained, but she’s smart and willing to learn. With her sweet nature and loyal personality, Arlow will make a wonderful foster companion until she can be reunited with her family.
