Ollie's Refresher Stay: A Successful Nighttime Stroll in Downtown Kannapolis ✨️

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Ollie, the handsome Springer Spaniel, back for a refresher stay. To assess his progress and reinforce his training, we took him for a nighttime stroll through the charming downtown area of Kannapolis.

We are delighted to say that Ollie exhibited exemplary leash manners and a calm demeanor throughout the outing. He walked attentively by our side, remaining focused on our cues despite the numerous distractions surrounding him.👏

This experience provided an excellent opportunity to solidify Ollie's positive behavior and boost his confidence in navigating new environments. We are immensely proud of his achievements and eagerly anticipate the opportunity to work with him again in the future.🧡

Welcome Max, the handsome English Setter, to our Elite Companion Gundog Program! ✨️

Max will be focusing on advanced obedience, off-leash reliability, and manners training so he can be a good companion both in and out of the field.👌

Later on, he will also be in an upland training, where we will work on retrieving and holding the point.

Ollie Aced Lowe's!

Taking your pup to a busy store can be ruff, but Ollie the Springer Spaniel mastered his manners at today!💞 We practiced staying calm on leash, polite greetings with employees, and resisting the urge to sniff every. single. item.😅

Ollie earned lots of praise (and maybe a behind-the-ear scratch ) for his good behavior. What are your favorite places to take your well-trained pup for an outing?🥰

Welcome back, Ollie! 💞

Our graduate Ollie joined us for a few fun-filled days recently! While it was primarily a relaxing stay, we also snuck in some refresher training to keep his skills sharp.😎

It's always a joy to see our alumni return, and Ollie was a superstar student. We can't wait to see the amazing things he accomplishes in the future!🤩

Off-Leash Adventure for Maverick!💞

Maverick has joined our program to refine his on-leash and off-leash obedience. Through focused training sessions, we're strengthening his foundation in commands like "come," "heel," "place," and "settle," fostering a reliable and responsive companion.

Additionally, we're addressing unwanted behaviors such as jumping on people and counter-surfing, promoting a calm and well-mannered demeanor in all environments.

Stay tuned to witness Maverick's transformation into a well-rounded pup, prepared to excel in everyday life.

Here at Cantrell's Gundogs, we believe in nurturing a gundog's natural abilities. Even playtime activities like snuffle mats can help develop their incredible sense of smell.

Snuffle mats offer a range of benefits for our furry companions, both physical and mental:
✳️ Mental Stimulation: Sniffing is a massive part of a dog's world, and snuffle mats engage their natural foraging instincts, keeping them mentally sharp.
✳️ Slower Eating: Snuffle mats turn mealtime into a fun challenge, forcing dogs to work for their kibble. This can be a great way to prevent gulping and potential digestion issues, especially for fast eaters.
✳️ Reduced Boredom and Anxiety: Sniffing and problem-solving through the snuffle mat provide enrichment, keeping dogs occupied and helping to alleviate boredom and anxiety. In combination with proper training, snuffle mats can be an effective tool to channel a dog's natural energy and focus, further reducing unwanted behaviors that may stem from boredom or anxiety.

Another successful day in the "office" partnering with Oliver on a pheasant tower shoot. Two hours in a pouring down rain, but teamwork and passion always prevail.

Ollie the master of relaxation! 💞

Look at this good boy calmly chilling on his cot, completely nailing his "Place" command! 🤩

Mastering "Place" isn't just about obedience, it's about providing Ollie with his own calming space. It's his little zen den where he can unwind after adventures, chew on a tasty treat, or simply observe the world go by. 🙂

Of course, it hasn't always been easy. There were those initial bursts of puppy energy, the curious nose nudging forbidden corners, and the persistent attempts to join every family activity (even bathroom breaks!). But with consistent training and patience, Ollie's learned that "Place" means good things! 🤗

We're so happy to see Ollie thriving and finding his inner zen master. He's a constant reminder that with dedication and proper training, even the most energetic pups can learn valuable skills and find their own sense of calm. 🧘‍♂️

Meet Ollie!💞

Ollie, the Springer Spaniel, has joined our Obedience Board & and Train Program! This young pup is full of energy and eager to learn (which we absolutely love!🤩) but he's got the typical springer spaniel habit of wanting to explore every dropped crumb (and tissue, and candy wrap, and pretty much everything 🤣) on the ground!

We'll be working with him on:

✨Polishing his recall:✨ We'll make sure Ollie comes when called, no matter the distractions!

✨Proper leash manners:✨Ollie will learn to walk calmly and politely on a leash, focusing on his handler rather than the sidewalk snacks.

✨Overall manners:✨ We'll help Ollie become a well-behaved young gentleman, mastering basic commands and understanding house rules.

✨Selective scavenging:✨We'll help Ollie learn to resist the urge to eat everything he finds on the ground, ensuring his safety and good health.

We're already loving his infectious enthusiasm and that adorable mohawk! We can't wait to see how much he learns and grows in our program. Stay tuned for updates on Ollie's training journey! 🤎🖤

This is a significant accomplishment, and it is a testament to Oliver's hard work and dedication. He is a truly talented retriever, and we are so proud of him!💞

Our student Silvie the Machine is starting to work on straight lines!🤩

This is an important skill for gundogs to learn, as it helps them to retrieve birds and other game quickly and efficiently. 🤩 We start by training straight lines on short distances, and gradually increase the distance as Silvie becomes more proficient.👌

We are very proud of Silvie's progress so far! 💞 She is a quick learner and she loves to work. We can't wait to see how she does in the field!🤎
