Kota had a quick lesson with Briana and Mom. I can't last long because I am still healing. At the end when she was refusing to listen, he was helped and got her back on track. Also, yes, I told him to smack her when she refused to follow directions and invaded his space. He is 60lb and she is 300+lb
Briana and Blaze helping with hay
Haven't posted in a minute, but have I mentioned that Briana is an instigator? When I let her out with Blaze, my competition mustang, she bit him, kicked him and just picked at him most of the time. He is sweet and just attempted to ignore this behavior. She also decided that my brother in law would be her focus, so she would come up to him, stomp her feet, turn her butt, chomp her teeth and lay on him. I am happy she is learning that Kota and I are the leaders and we will continue to push her.
Video of her 'helping' to unload hay the other day because she is a love ❤️
Briana loves jumping off the steps and will try to go up without being told. Today she went both ways and was so happy❤️
Feeling over the moon today
Had my farrier out and him and his wife both told me how wonderful I have done with the B***o and horse and these are two people who do not freely give out compliments. Briana was a complete angel. Her small kick out before picking up her feet today wasn't even anything the farrier considered a kick. Also I found something that makes her happy like she legitimately tries and wants to do it videos attached
Kota's working on earning some respect with Briana. I haven't videoed because he needs a lot of help with her but she is challenging him less every day
Coming out of the barn
Today we worked with Briana to leave the barn. We got her out of her stall the other day, but couldn't get her to leave the barn. She is mostly freeze and is not phased by whips, flags, or anything else we throw at her. She truly does her best with consistent pressure and release, but she also is VERY opinionated and her survival instinct strong so she will rear, sit and pull at all costs to get free. As I have nerve damage in my hands and she is strong for being tiny, I decided to use my tow hitch on my truck to give me leverage and hold her when she pulled back. This worked beautifully. It took about an hour or step, pet, settle, pressure, blow up and step... repeatedly and we were able to get her out of the barn. She wasn't sure what to expect of the grass and was pawing at it but eventually took a bite and then we groomed her and visited with our friend who owns the property and then tried again. Attached is footage of attempts 2-done. She also is starting to show signs of bonding with me as when she finally came out of the barn, she ran straight to me.
We have a vet appointment Thursday that we are hauling to, so she has to leave the barn sooner than later 🤣
I believe you stole my food...
Briana was very unhappy that the bucket stole her alfalfa
Teaching her to eat out of a bucket and attempting to get her to eat her grain
She picked her hay out around the grain, but at least ate the hay out of the bucket and survived 🤣
Briana comes out of her stall
Brought Briana out of her stall. She was a little worried and struggled a little but by the 6-7 time coming out, she was great so she got to go to bed and have dinner
Pardon the poor video quality
Morning pets
Went to feed this morning and Briana met Kota at the gate and waited for him to put his helmet on. He then went in and was able to catch her within about 30 seconds for some pets
She will be learning to tie today to hopefully allow touch on the off side as she fights when you try to approach the off side
Also, per my training preference, a lot of training will be done at liberty so Briana can learn she is safe and choose Kota❤️🐴
So excited for a good and sweet Jenny
