❌It’s not about the obstacle

❌It’s not about the competition

❌It’s not about the float/trailer

❌It’s not about the scary bushes

❌It’s not about the wormer

❌It’s not about the jump

It’s never about any of this...

I don’t really care if my horse does the thing or not.

✅What’s more important to me is the approach.

✅That I can help my horse when they are unsure.

✅That I can show my horse that I won’t force her.

✅That she has options

✅ That I can communicate lightly & politely

✅That she is allowed to say no...

I’m not willing to compromise on my values to “get the job done”. It’s important to me to stay true to myself and how I want my relationship to be with my horse. They’re not a robot or a slave.

You and I, and anyone really, are quite capable of MAKING a horse do something...forcing it even...I’ve been there- I didn’t know any better.

But where is the beauty, skill, empathy, and partnership in that?

The outcome is much sweeter, less stressful, and far more rewarding if you take your time, listen to your horse, and stay relaxed, calm and positive 😁

A 7 year old Blue Roan TWH that stands 15.1hh and is broke !

He will ride in a group or out alone. He will cross water, go over logs, lead the pack or stay in the back.

He loads great, stands tied, lifts his feet, and is just a gentle kind soul. He is shod all the way around.

He can be a bit hard to catch if let you have him in a big field. I would not put an absolute beginner on him because this horse can turn it on in a shot. He will go slow if you want him to, but you need to know those cues.

He has also been vet checked already!

And by "fitness" I don't just mean how far u can run and how heavy u can lift.

Do u ever struggle in loading your horse onto the float?

Or maybe it's not that u can't get them on, but they rush off or refuse to load at the other end

Do they get on, but u need to allow to 10-30 minutes just in case you've a discussion about it

Or do u need a maximum of 2+people to help get the horse in and closed?

I used to find myself in these situations too...

And it was honestly, so embarrassing being the last one at the show with a horse that wouldn't load🥺😞

And super stressful when there was a bushfire or I needed to take the horse to the vet and he literally refused to load
