Happy holidays from the Snuggle is Real Animal Rescue! And a huge thank you to everyone who has made our little organization part of your holiday giving. Between Colorado Gives, corporate giving, our raffle fundraiser, and our recent vet care Gofundme, we raised nearly $4000! We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community 🥰 That's enough to cover Hila's knee care and save more lives in 2026! Here's where those funds will go:

Picture 1 captures the big grin of our first intake of 2026. This sweet tank of a pitty girl is smiling because she just received a ticket OUT of the Texas shelter and off the euthanasia list! She'll be looking for her furever family in January.

Photos 2 and 3 are sweet puppers in the same shelter who caught the same lucky break! MaxFund No-Kill Animal Shelter and Adoption Center has generously offered to welcome them, and TSIR is coordinating their transfer. Your donations have allowed us to fund their transportation and pre-transport veterinary care!

The final picture celebrates the outcome of our pet portrait raffle! We had 18 non-anonymous donors while the fundraiser was active, all of whom were entered into the raffle. The adopters of this TSIR alum (pic 4) won the prize! We can't wait to see local artist, Katie Gabriel 's masterpiece.

Thank you again to everyone who donated, shared, advocated, adopted or volunteered for animal rescue organizations this season. Wishing you all a warm and festive holiday!

In 2024, researchers at ELTE University in Hungary uncovered something powerful about rescue dogs — something many adopters have felt in their hearts but never had scientific proof for.

Dogs who grow up with trauma, abandonment, or life on the streets form deeper emotional bonds with their new owners than dogs who never experienced hardship.

The study looked at former street dogs now living in loving homes. Researchers found that these dogs:
• show stronger emotional dependency
• are more sensitive to their owner’s presence
• rely more heavily on human comfort during stress
• form attachment patterns similar to children who finally find safety after instability

In simple terms, dogs who were once alone cling harder to the people who saved them.

It is not weakness.
It is gratitude shaped by survival.

Rescue dogs learn early that the world can be cold and unpredictable. So when they finally find someone who feeds them, shelters them, touches them gently, and stays… they give every piece of loyalty they have.

Their bond is not just affection. It is trust rebuilt from scratch.
It is love learned the hard way, and therefore given more fiercely.

If you have a rescue dog, you already know this feeling.
The way they watch you.
The way they follow you from room to room.
The way they rest their head on you like they are anchoring themselves to something safe.

Science finally confirms it:
Rescue dogs do not just love.
They love differently — deeper, stronger, and with the full heart of an animal who remembers what life was like before you.

🐶Koda's mom shared that he "is doing great and loves spending his days outside."
🐱🐱Ricky and Mort's dad shared that they are "settling right in!"
🐶Frank's dad shared, "Frank is settling in great! He seems very happy with his new home."
🐱 Perspehone is reportedly "spoiled" and loves watching video games!

Hey, TSIR friends! Here's a quick recap on what we've been pup to lately! 🐕

As you may know, foster-based, volunteer-based organizations like ours face a continuous uphill battle to procure sufficient labor, funds, and foster homes to stay afloat. Our organization has found that balance particularly hard lately, as some of our key volunteers and fosters moved out of state in 2024.

But not to worry - we've stayed flexible to continue saving lives! In addition to running our foster program, we often network for animals in danger and facilitate their transfer to larger, No- and Low-kill organizations on the front range.

Here's how it works: First, we learn of animals in SOS situations. 🆘️ Next, we get busy seeking placements for these furkids among our rescue partners. 🔍We then cover the cost of their pre-transport, out-of-state vetting. 💉Lastly, our volunteer transport drivers help deliver them safely to these fabulous organizations! 🚗💗

Here are a few shots of the many transfers weve facilitated this year! Particular thanks to our friends in rescue, MaxFund No-Kill Animal Shelter and Adoption Center and the Humane Society of Boulder Valley !

LOCATION: Durango, Colorado.

Chloe (the pup on the right with freckles) and her sister, Lola, were surrendered to the Durango, CO shelter for attacking chickens and frequently wandering off their ranch and onto their neighbors property. Tragically, these girls seem to be mentally and physically declining in the shelter environment and have now been scheduled for euthanasia. These girls only have until MONDAY 2/3/25 to be saved!!

Lola and Chloe have lost some weight since surrendered as they seem stressed and are not eating. Despite their stress they are extremely sweet. Chloe is a little more outgoing and Lola is still very shy. Chloe walks great on a leash and loves to be loved on. Lola is still trying to figure out how to trust people. PLEASE SHARE to help save these girls before it’s too late! ⏰

Please extend a warm welcome to our first intake of 2025! 🎉 Stevie is a 4-5-year-old mixed breed who arrived in Denver yesterday after a long ride from Woodward, Oklahoma
❤️🐶❤️

Everyone who meets Stevie uses the word "perfect" to describe her 😊 She is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog. She is crate-trained, housetrained, and good with both cats and other dogs. Stevie is settling into her foster home, and we're learning more about her beautiful personality bit by bit!

Let's help this sweet girl find her family!
