📸 Pic # 1 Navy Bean is a medium-haired female Syrian. She is one of Beanery’s “Baby Beans”. Her approximate DOB is 4/22/22. Like the other Ohio hoarding situation hamsters, she is slowly warming up to human interaction. She is the “spiciest” of the “Baby Beans”.

📸 Pic # 1 Aurora is a medium-haired female Syrian who is usually friendly but has her “moody moments”, too. She would thrive in a home that is willing to give her space when she needs it and hold her when she wants to held. Her approximate DOB is 10/1/21.

📸 Pics 2 & 3 Beanery is medium-haired female Syrian. She is momma to Navy & Soy Bean and also had four other “baby beans” who had since been adopted. She came from a hoarding situation in Ohio. Her babies were only about a week old at the time. She is still warming up to being held but continues to improve with human interaction. Her approximate DOB is 2/1/22. Fun Fact: She’s named after the restaurant nearby the parking lot we met the transport at in West Virginia.

📸 Pics 4 & 5 Cappuccino is a short-haired female Syrian who also came from the Ohio hoarding situation. Her mom, Americano, and three of her “Coffee Shop” brothers have been adopted. Her approximate DOB is 4/9/22 and like Beanery she is slowly warming up to human interaction.

MEET TWINKIE’S BABIES, HO-HO, ZINGER, SNOBALL & DING-DONG 🥰 THEY ARE READY FOR THEIR FOREVER HOMES! READ BELOW FOR MORE INFO ON THIS “SPECIAL OFFER” FOR THESE SPECIAL BABIES AND THEIR MOMMA 👇

Tw***ie has “spinning disorder”. You can find more information on Robo Hamsters and “Spinning Disorder” here: https://squeaksandnibbles.com/roborovski-hamster/ Tw***ie’s babies were born 6/15/22 and are showing signs that they possibly have the same disorder as their momma. While there is no cure, as long as they have quality of life they also doesn’t require any additional care. Due to their possible “special needs” we are WAIVING THE ADOPTION FEE FOR APPROVED ADOPTERS. Momma Tw***ie and each of her babies will also COME WITH THEIR BIN CAGE (and water bottle). Adopters will need to provide a “house”, small exercise saucer (due to their possible health issues we recommend a saucer vs wheel) and, of course, hamster food & bedding.

ADOPTER REQUIREMENTS:
- They are for pets only
- They will live alone
- They will not be bred
- And they will be provided with proper care (including medical care if needed).

If you’re NOT interested in or able to adopt them, you can still help. SHARE THIS POST.

If you ARE interested in providing a loving home to Momma Tw***ie or one of her babies, email us at [email protected]

Meet Harper!

Harper is a young Syrian from a hoarding situation. She’s healthy and ready for adoption. Despite her rough start, she is the friendliest hamster we’ve had in awhile. She loves being held and pet, but also enjoys naps in the corner of her cage.

HELP NEEDED:
We (I mean I, Sammie) will be cleaning all the rodent tanks tomorrow. That’s 27 tanks! Ideally, I’ll be starting around 10:30am until they’re done. If anyone is available to help in Castle Shannon tomorrow, email or PM us. I will order pizza for those willing to help. They are hamster, gerbil, and mouse tanks 🍕 🐭 🐹

I know we haven’t posted in a while but it has been busy, so busy! It’s been raining rats & Syrian hamsters here 😂 We also have a robo with neurological issues that came to us on pregnancy watch after accidentally being housed with male robos. She had her babies on Wednesday. We’ve got medical & sanctuary rodents, but LOTS of adoptable, too. (The medical/sanctuary rodents can be adopted or fostered by those willing and/or experienced.) We have rats, Syrians, dwarfs, Chinese dwarfs and gerbils. We will be taking pictures next week and will get them posted as soon as we can. In the meantime, email [email protected] for adoption information. With 8 unexpected, urgent surrender babies arriving tomorrow RAT ADOPTIONS OR FOSTERS are needed 🐀 Pictured below is Einstein our only remaining hairless mouse for your enjoyment!

DONATIONS: We are also in need of mouse/rat food, gerbil/hamster food, alfalfa pellets (for rat bedding), extra large (rat size) wheels or exercise saucers, paper bedding and, of course, treats & interactive toys are always welcome. Email or PM for address for drop off or delivery address

We are a family- & friend- rescue effort helping small animals find a safe place to land. Our efforts are just beginning and any costs not covered by donations and/or donated supplies are covered by our family. This includes cages, supplies, medical care and more. The number of rat surrenders has increased. We, thankfully, had a double Critter Nation & second large rat cage donated and have been able to purchase others secondhand. But the plastic trays that come in them get quickly chewed away. Thanks to a recommendation by a local rat rescue we found replacement stainless steel metal pans that will not only be more durable but also contain some of the mess as they have 3” sides as well. The cost to switch out our current cages, 2 single Critter Nations and 2 double Critter Nations is $415.38. We feel that this is a necessary upgrade as many of our trays are badly chewed and these new pans are better investment then replacement plastic pans that will get chewed up again. If anyone would like to donate towards the cost of these pans, our Venmo and PayPay info will be in the comments. PM for our address to send donations.

PLEASE PUT IN THE VENMO/PAYPAL COMMENTS/MEMO LINE THAT THIS IS TOWARDS THE COST OF RAT CAGE PANS. ANY PERSON(S) WHO DONATE TOWARDS THE COST OF THESE PANS WILL HAVE THEIR NAME(S) DISPLAYED ON A RAT CAGE AND ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES AS HAVING HELPED SPONSOR A RAT CAGE (unless you prefer to remain anonymous).

As always, donated cages, bedding, food, hammocks and other supplies are always helpful and needed. We had a large hamster rescue a few weeks ago and have another happening this weekend. Not everyone can or wants to adopt rats, hamsters, gerbils and/or mice but anyone & everyone can help

The babies have been here a week now. We lost the runt last night. But the other seven are making progress. Feedings are now every 3 hours vs 2 hours and they have started to lick food & the water bottle and try to chew on food. Eyes are beginning to open and the babies whose eyes are opening are becoming more independent & mobile.

Little explorers 💕 The babies are starting to explore more!

02/05/2022

All eight baby mice made it through the weekend. Still no guarantees (or good sleep) but we’ll take it. This little one couldn’t wait for the paint brush with milk 💕

TWENTY ONE! That’s how many hamsters we transported from Ohio via West Virginia today. They were rescued from a senior citizen whose caregiver convinced her to surrender them. They were living together, reproducing and fighting for survival. One mom has seven babies about one week old. Another mom has seven approximately three week old babies. Two of the babies already have placement. There were also five adults, one female and four males. Several of the adults have wounds from fighting and/or parasites. All have been treated for parasites and now they can enjoy just being pet hamsters 💕

We have seven adult Syrian hamsters coming to us from Ohio via West Virginia tomorrow. Two of the females have babies and placement. All the additional females will need to be on pregnancy watch. As of right now, all the hamsters are angry and in rough shape. If anyone has experience and is interested in fostering one of these Syrians or if anyone is interested in fostering or adopting one of our available Syrians to make additional room for these hamsters PM us or email [email protected].

Tonight’s adventure: eight baby wild mice brought to us after they were found in a shipping container. There’s never any guarantees with these little ones but we have seen miracles happen. Regardless of the outcome, they will be warm, fed and cared for!

12/04/2022

We will be posting pictures soon of all our adoptable small animals but here’s a quick overview of some of our adoptable small animals.

🐀 RATS 🐀

6 seven week old baby rats. We have 5 males and 1 female still available for adoption. They are playful, friendly and beginning to get Himalayan markings like their mom.

2 one year old bonded female rats, Wilma & Betty. Wilma is a white Himalayan and Betty is black. They would be best suited in an experienced home. They’ve been having a tough time adjusting to new surroundings and would do well in a quieter environment with someone willing to take the time help them bond with humans again.

2 one year old bonded, friendly male rats

2 bonded female rats. Journey is under a year old and is now bonded with one of the seven week old baby girls. She is still coming out of her shell after a rough start in life but is making progress with daily human interaction and the companionship of another rat. They would do best with someone with the time and/or experience to continue to work with Journey so she continues to learn to trust humans.

🐹 HAMSTERS 🐹

We have 4 dwarf hamsters and 1 robo hamster looking for loving, forever homes. Dwarf hamsters aren’t known for their friendly demeanor although there are exceptions. Regardless, they are cute, fun to watch, easy to care for and are deserving of loving homes.

We also have a few Syrians:

Lillian is a female short-haired Syrian. She loves to give high fives through the glass but after previous neglect & abandonment she does not like being handled. She enjoys interaction through the glass though!

Henny is a medium-haired Syrian that hasn’t made up her mind whether she wants to held or not. But like Lillian, Henny enjoys interaction through the glass.

Vi is a young short-haired Syrian who is still coming out of her shell. She is young and much like Henny hasn’t decided how she feels about humans.

Aurora is young medium-haired Syrian. She is timid but friendly.

Milo is a friendly, long-haired male Teddy Bear hamster. He is all white, will need grooming due to his long hair and even allows you to do so 😉

Hamsters are solitary animals and must be housed alone. Some hamsters are friendlier than others but all of them are deserving of loving homes and easy to care for. Even if a hamster doesn’t enjoy being held, you can enjoy watching them and making their habitat fun & enriching for them.

💙 GERBILS 💙

2 bonded, friendly female gerbils, Thelma & Louise.

4 bonded male gerbils (they are friendly and need to be adopted together)

1 single male and 1 single female gerbil who don’t get along with other gerbils. Hagrid doesn’t mind human interaction. Mira is skittish but friendly.

Email [email protected] for more information and/or if you’re interested in adopting any of the above small animals. All PGH Squeaks small animals are for adoption as pets only and not for breeding purposes.

Not looking to adopt but want to help? Share our posts, spread the word and/or consider donating or volunteering. We can use help cleaning cages. We can always donations including quality mouse/rat food, gerbil/hamster food, paper bedding, alfalfa pellets, hammocks (especially for the rats) and other toys & supplies. Email or message us for more information or for mailing/drop off address.

We are currently caring for a momma rat and her nine babies. (The tenth baby, the runt, passed away during the first week) Momma Rat will return to her owner once the babies are weaned. (The owner needed some assistance after both their female rats had unexpected litters) The babies will go up for adoption once weaned and healthy
