In a good way! 🏦
The Day of Knowledge at Lviv National University named after SZ Gzhytsky began traditionally (as before in quarantine times) with a festive liturgy in the Church of the Holy Trinity, during which the rector of the church Stepan Kashchuk, the university administration, teachers, parents and freshmen prayed for health. I, successful study and work.
The celebration continued with a solemn academy on the square in front of the main building of the university. They met freshmen who walked alongside their deans and teachers, embroidered with towels. Numerous guests, friends, parents, seniors, teachers and university staff came to greet them. Among them: First Deputy Chairman of the Lviv Regional Council Yevhen Hirnyk, Deputy Mayor of Lviv Lyubomyr Zubach, Head of the Lychakiv District State Administration Orest Tymchyshyn, Director of the State Research Control Institute of Veterinary Drugs and Feed Additives, Dr. Honoris Cusa Adviser to the Directorate of the Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian Region NAAS Hryhoriy Sedilo, First Deputy Head of the Main Department of the State Food and Consumer Service in Lviv Region Rostyslav Voloshin, Director of the Lviv Regional Laboratory of Veterinary Medicine Andriy Ostapyuk, Deputy Head of the Western Interregional Main Department of the State Tax Service Mykhailo Tarnavskyi, the rector of the Holy Trinity Church, Father Stepan Kashchuk, and the student chaplain, Ihor Khomichak, the soloist of the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Solomiya Krushelnytska, winner of international competitions and festivals Ihor Shevchuk and others.
The rector of the university, corresponding member of NAAS of Ukraine, professor Volodymyr Stibel was the first to address more than 900 young men and women with a warm parental speech: “You have become members of a large academic family of one of the oldest universities in Lviv and our country! This year we will celebrate the 140th anniversary of the opening of the Imperial-Royal Veterinary School in Lviv with an inpatient clinic for animals. It is from her that the origins of our university began in 1784.
Over the years of its activity, our university has trained tens of thousands of highly qualified specialists and has gone far beyond the narrow-profile educational institution of the agar direction. Today we train not only future veterinarians, but also specialists in more than 20 other specialties in demand in the labor market.
The teaching staff of our university understands the current challenges of reforming higher education, is constantly looking for ways to improve and enhance their work and student learning.
I ask you to understand the most important thing - teachers are your reliable partners who are ready to teach you, to help you understand the secrets of science. Do not be afraid to have your own opinion, criticize, discuss, experiment. Because only solid knowledge is the key to good work and decent earnings in the future. "
He also noted that the geography of entrants has increased: this year young men and women from 20 regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv will study at the university. One third of all freshmen are not residents of Lviv region. Also this year, students from abroad will study at the university: Azerbaijan, Poland, Tunisia, Syria and India.
"Today's celebration of dedication of freshmen to students is your start to a serious adult life! Go all this distance with dignity and get the dream diploma. In a good way! ”, - with these words the rector of the university Volodymyr Stibel concluded his speech.
Numerous guests greeted the freshmen. In particular, a graduate of our university in 1972, advisor to the Directorate of the Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian region of NAAS, professor, academician of NAAS Grigory Sedilo. He congratulated the freshmen on an important event in their lives, wished them to study, work and reach their dream heights, as well as love their university and Ukraine, as commanded by the great Ukrainian Andrei Sheptytsky: "Not a stream of noisy and noisy phrases, but quiet, tireless work…" .
Freshmen were greeted by officials of the city and region, parents, faculty of the university, senior students. The festive mood was created by the soloist of the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Solomiya Krushelnytska, the laureate of international competitions and festivals Ihor Shevchuk, performing the anthem of Ukraine, the song "Ridna mati moya…" and the famous Neapolitan work "O sole mio". The freshmen solemnly took the oath of the student, received a symbolic student card from the rector of the university Volodymyr Stibel and sang the student anthem "Gaudeamus".
Prince Lev, the son of Danylo Halytsky, after whom our city is named, greeted the freshmen. He came from ancient times as a true knight on horseback and gave instructions to freshmen: "Create the future of our country, not by force, but only by learning, not by offense, but only by reason, not by betrayal, but only by faith!"
According to the ancient Christian of our people, every great deed is sprinkled with holy water. The student chaplain, Father Ihor Khomichak, also delivered a speech. He wished Rector V. Stibel to be a good father in this house to both young and old "children", teachers - to share their knowledge, students - not to be afraid to learn, to go to the top of knowledge, because from the top you can see everything he created God, and to put the credo in the first place "" God and Ukraine above all! ", As well as to remember:" You are not the future, but the present of Ukraine! " With these words, he sprinkled holy water on the freshmen and all present.
Another tradition, which is only in our university, the holiday ends with a procession of freshmen (this right is granted only to them on September 1) through a symbolic golden horseshoe, which is a symbol of luck and happiness of Ukrainians. And we believe that this will give young men and women faith in their own strength, encourage them to study and make scientific discoveries during all the years of study at the university.
