Let’s talk about Rosie
This sweet girl came to us with a deformed paw, determined to be a birth defect. While she appears to walk on it with no concerns, when you watch closely you’ll see the frequency in which she avoids to put weight on to it. To ensure we would be able to be fully transparent with potential adopters, we had Rosie get multiple vet and specialist opinions to determine what the future of her paw looks like.
In simple terms, her paw’s bone structure is set up in such a way that it’ll cause her immense pain as she grows. Ultimately it was decided that amputating the leg is the best option to ensure she lives a pain free life.
Options of amputating just the paw, as well as investing in prosthetics, were all discussed, however the structure in which dogs move and bare weight lead each vet to ensure that full leg amputation is her best option. Doing this now we will be able to cover the cost and confidently adopt Rosie to a forever family knowing no further ongoing procedures will be necessary to address this. Amputating now while she’s a young pup will also give her the best chance at recovering and adapting to her new tri-pod life!
We will be working closely with her foster as well as all of the vets involved to get her surgery planned, and Rosie will be ready for her forever family as soon as she’s recovered!
We are raising money to fund Rosie’s surgery as well as the extra supplies needed to continue to have her in rescue.
If you think this adorable soon-to-be tripod is your next family member, feel free to reach out or apply in advance! We are happy to share all medical details!
