Hello to everyone who follows us or is reading this! I have seen a lot of stolen and missing dog posts and flyers at our vets recently and wanted to give some advice on what to do if a pet is missing/stolen.

📍Microchips- Any brand with good reviews. We personally use HomeAgian at this time when we chip dogs we buy.
Why microchip? Mircrochiping is a NEARLY permanent way to show proof of ownership, gives people a way to find the animals owner if found, and cannot be easily removed.
Even if your pet is only inside it’s a good option just in case.
📍Vet Records- Pets should go to the Vet at least once a year. These records show you have ownership and responsibility for the animal. The shot they should receive every year protects or boosts immune systems against Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis*, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus. *Not all states and vets require and vaccinate for Leptospirosis. Your pet should also stay up to date with Rabies shots some cities require this to be yearly others allow the shot to go every 3 years (check with your vet and area).
📍Rabies tags- your pet does not have to wear the tag, but if they wear it the finder can call the clinic on the tag and check the database to see what dog that tag belongs to and contact the owner.
📍Photos- Photos of your pet that you have on your phone can help to prove it is the animal in question if there is any further issues.
📍If you know you animal was taken; call the police and report it immediately do not try to “steal” the animal back as you are then trespassing. Provide video surveillance if you have any. Show them the above bulleted items and they can es**rt you to retrieve the animal, or assist you in the next steps.

Apparently it’s Golden Retriever Day and while this guy is not currently a planned stud/breeder he is is still a part of our family as all dogs and puppies are. His name is Jettson, he’ll be a year old in April. He is our official “transition dog” teaching young puppies about house manners and learning to play with large breed dogs. As most of our kennel is Miniature or small breeds. Jake and Linsey (myself) co-own breeding rights on him.
