We got some new friends. The last fish (dumbo female) could not even stay up right or swim when I picked her up. This photo is after being in the heated fish room for a couple hours. All these cuties have been settled into their hospital tanks and are hoping for full recovery.

This is Catalina she is female crowntail. She is too sassy for a sorority tank so we would like to see her in her own space with plenty of places to explore and open space to swim. Pls msg if you would like to give her a forever home

Bet y'all don't remember this guy, he has gotten so big and his fins are crazy long. That's a happy boy,🧡🧡🧡🧡 he's probably thriving because he is not burdened with the name Mush any longer 🤦🏻‍♀️

His amazing new family has given him the name Schmidt and he has his very own humans and cats to take over.

Has a home

Meet Blitz, he is a male copper mustard gas halfmoon and he is looking for his forever home. He still has one spot on his tail that is growing back in but it has new healthy growth so I am confident that he is ready to go. Msg for details.

Happy Sunday Friends. We just wanted to remind everyone with the cold weather coming in this week to prep your tanks ahead of time. Be as prepared as you can for cold weather and power outages.

1) Do water changes prior to incoming weather. This will give your fish fresh water in case you are not able to change the water due to a power outage.

2) Feed light or fast your fish, this will also keep the water cleaner.

3) Check your heaters and monitor them to be sure they are working properly. Colder temps can also put a strain on fish tank heaters and generally I see the most cases of heater malfunctions when there is cold weather.

4) If you loose power or heat the main thing you want to do is retain as much heat as possible for as long as possible in your tank. Be prepared and have a blanket and saran wrap/tin foil on hand just in case.
🐟 First do not open the lid of the tank at all
🐟Use the saran wrap or Tin Foil to seal the top of your tank covering all openings.
🐟Cover entire tank with the blanket
🐟Try to leave easy access to your thermometer so you can monitor the temperature easily without uncovering the tank.
🐟Do not try to feed your fish once you lose power. The fish will be fine fasting and it's not worth losing valuable heat out of the tank by opening the lid. Keeping the water as clean is crucial at this times as you will not have availability to get your water temp to match the tank water.
🐟if you have hot hands these can be activated and taped to the OUTSIDE of your tank. I would not use these right away and keep them ready in case your power is out for extended periods of time and the tank temperature is dropping to a unsafe level.
🐟If your tank temperature drops to 68 or lower it's time to seek alternative way to keep your fish safe.

Bettas are able to get air from the surface and do not need the filter circulating to survive but if you have other fish and you see them start to struggle due to lack of air flow you can manually put air in the water by scooping a cup of tank water and pouring it quickly back in the tank, do this a couple times every few hours it as needed. Keep in mind that you will lose valuable heat Everytime you uncover and open the tank so don't do this unless it's absolutely necessary. You can also get a battery powered pump from the pet store or online for future emergencies. If you are local and have a extended power outage please reach out, I have plenty of spaces for Bettas and may have some space for other fish as well. If you need further help during a outage please reach out. There are other things we can do in power outages but the best option is always keeping them in their home and retaining the heat for as long as possible.

Love this update on Dennis. .......Dennis has settled into his new home and has bonded with his new human boy. We though Dennis was going to be named Knuckles but his new boy has decided that he shall now be know as Red Panda 🐼❤️

Ronald is ready for his forever home. He has been in recovery for awhile healing from a swim bladder injury/strain he has gotten stronger over the past couple months and is ready to move into a bigger tank.

These 2 babies joined the rescue last night. The dragon has diamond eye and is blind or partially blind he will just be in observation to see the extent of his disability so we can then decide what kind of home he will need and the purple guy has severe fin rot he will go into treatment and hopefully be ready for a home after the New Year. Wish them luck on their journey. They need names if anyone has some good ones 😉

Well you all missed out on this gorgeous girl. She will be a permanent resident here at the rescue. We absolutely love and adore her. I said from the beginning that if nobody got her quick she would be staying and here we are. She will be moving into her new home today with a fresh new name ❤️
