Kyra (RIP), Korintau, Tiberius, Jadzia and Dax are a handful of floofy fun.

Last April we did end up losing Kyra. The post I shared was just a few days before she took a very fast downturn and we let her go. I won't go into any more specifics besides she was loved and knew she was the best girl ever. I'll dump some photos and videos over the next few days.

One of those few dogs that enjoys the vet. A moment after I snapped this photo, she pawed at the door to be let into the office, much like she does when she is at home and wants inside. She then performed the traditional greeting of bounces and nuzzles when the vet tech came to get her.

We do love our Kyra.

We are still in limbo with the little girl, but she continues to live the best life and is happy. Doing everything to keep her feeling both well and good.

Our new couch set finally arrived. There is a distinct possibility we purchased the loveseat for Phil and I, and the couch for "guests". Yes, all those guests we have.

It's been a long while since I've updated you all on the huskies. We've been home for the last year living our best lives that we can while avoiding the public. Spending lots of time with the dogs while working from home. Raising a kiddo and keeping up on the farm chores. Living a good life.

Late last year and early this year Kyra started showing some sickness. Investigation revealed a large mass on her intestine (the size of a small grapefruit), which we had surgically removed. She came through the surgery with flying colors, and is doing great.

Unfortunately the mass is cancer, and we're still working to genetically type it to help us target her chemotherapy treatment, which she'll start tomorrow. If we do nothing, she has about 6 months, so we'll see if the chemo can't knock out the residual cells in her system, as they were unable to get clean margins when removing the tumor.

Being paranoid, we took Tau to the vet and he's showing high calcium levels. While we're in the extremely early stages of testing, high calcium is a potential indicator for cancer. My gut is telling me it's the same cancer Kyra has. I can't say for sure of course, and I'm hoping both his results are better than I expect, and Kyra's chemo knocks out the cancer in her system - but I'm a realist. They're both 8 going on 9, and won't live forever.

So, I may be flooding this page with more husky pics over the next few months. For now, though, please enjoy this picture of Kyra monitoring her turkey and chicken friends.

In September, we adopted a 5 month old kitten. He was found wandering the streets of Renton, and was brought into the shelter malnourished, with fleas and a respiratory infection. The shelter and a rescue nursed him back to health, all the while learning his mannerisms. He was a scrappy little guy, not afraid of anything, with a rambunctious attitude. They named him Leroy Jenkins.

Their description of him made us know right away he'd fit into our little menagerie of animals, and we were not wrong. Within days he became the best of friends with the huskies. While he still gets a little wild with our older cat Kabiko, she's enjoying the young guy, too.

Here's Leeeeeroy Jenkins (his new official name, with 5 es) and Tiberius, snuggled up in front of the fireplace today. At least, until Leeeeeroy decided to turn it into a wrestling match. He's usually the instigator.

The fantabulous Katie Clark sent us this grand portrait of puppy Tiberius she painted recently. We absolutely love it! Kyra was a little jealous, and we may need to commission a painting of her with a Wonder Women tiara. Thank you Katie!!
