THANK YOU!

We are half way to our goal!

We still need your support today more than ever to help raise funds toward our mission- care for and find homes for animals who otherwise wouldn’t have that opportunity!

Please consider chipping in to getting us over the finish line!

It is with mixed emotions that we welcome Carlton back into the organization.

Carlton has come back to us in worse shape then ever, and has had to be rushed to the vet for surgery, due to a broken leg that will need to be amputated. Once the surgery and hospitalization are over, Carlton will be going to recover with a wonderful and experienced foster.

We will update you on his condition as we know more, however in the mean time we reach out to you for support in covering Carlton’s medical bills.

ADOPTED

Guess that mix!

Betty here is our favorite breed- rescue! This teeny tiny bundle of love is living the life in her foster home, and like we have in the past we are musing over what exactly has gone into the making of this perfect pup!

(PS- Betty will be listed as available for adoption very very soon!)

From Heartbreaking to Heartbreaker:
Zippy is only about 12 weeks old and is already king of the comeback!

Zippy and his siblings came to FCDRT with demodectic mange. As you can see, Zippy was having it pretty rough. Thankfully we were able to provide him with a daily medication and a loving foster who could help him heal.

Now it’s his time to shine, and he’s ready for adoption!!

Are you interested in the comeback kid? Then visit his bio, linked in the comments!

Not looking to adopt, but would love to help other puppies recovering from difficult illnesses? Donate on this post, or ask us for an adoption application!

Dove has started on the road to recovery and is being treated for heartworms! She’s starting to feel sick, and seem a little bit sad, which is to be expected. Our normally active, busy girl is going to be spending some time on crate rest.

What breaks my heart especially is that heartworms are very preventable! Please, please remember to keep up with your pet’s monthly heartworm prevention. Also, consider donating to a rescue or shelter near you, to help ensure homeless pets can receive this life saving preventative care!

I have added a donate button to this post, please consider donating $10 to FCDRT, to cover the cost of someone’s monthly heartworm prevention!

Here at FCDRT, we believe that every pet should be microchipped. After all, a lost pet wants nothing more than to find you! But how effective is a microchip in helping your pet get their wish?

All animals adopted through Fancy Cats and Dogs rescue have a microchip registered to the name and number on their adoption contract. (Unless you have specifically been told otherwise because of inability for us to chip, very rare) With that registration comes an email from 24 Pet Watch who keeps and maintains all of our records. If you make an account with them you will have 6 months to update your phone number, pet picture, and other info.

If your pet were to become lost, any finder could take them to a shelter or vet to be scanned, and it would then be completely up to the finder to contact you with the info assigned to your chip. This is a free service.

HOWEVER...

if you pay the yearly or monthly fee through your 24 Pet Watch registration, you are eligible for 24 Pet Watch to contact you immediately upon your chip being scanned, you have unlimited options to update phone numbers and may add multiple phone numbers to be contacted. 24 Pet Watch will do the work of tracking you down to reunite you. If you do not pay, the job of finding you will be upon the finder, vet, or shelter they take your animal to, which is better than nothing at all, but much less a guarantee you will be found.

While we provide microchips through 24 Pet Watch, we do suggest that pet parents of all brands keep their microchips up to date. We have seen some cats come in that have had microchips where the info was out of date or incorrect and we have had no choice but to give up on finding the owner and try to find new homes for these animals. It was shocking to me as a rescuer, to realize how many animals can't be reunited because of this and called our chip provider to get a better understanding of how it works.

If nothing else, Fancy Cats and Dogs wants to encourage you to check your pets microchip registration and see that the information is up to date, or have a record of your chip number somewhere close if needed. The level of security you wish to pay for is always up to you, but we wanted to remind everyone to check their chip policies and information in case of the worst!

As the day draws to a close, we are so excited to be approaching our goal! We realize $20,000 was a big ask, but you've shown us what we knew all along- you want us to save lives! As you may know, our goal is to find homes for 2,000 animals in the year 2020. And we are getting close! In 2020 we have found adoptive homes like yours for 1,549 cats and 283 dogs!

Fancy Cats and Dogs Rescue Team is not just about large numbers, it's also important to us to save the animals who need the most. Those cats and dogs who have special medical needs that may be impossible for the shelters they came from to take on. With your support we can make sure that animals don't have to be euthanized simply for being needier than others.

Matheson, Malachi, and Meika all came to FCDRT with multiple congenital eye problems, and a severe upper respiratory infection. Matheson was completely blind, and had both of his eyes removed. Malachi is also blind but only had one eye removed. Meika had multiple surgeries to fix her eyelid agenesis (which means the eyelids are turned under and scratching her eyes). After recovering from their upper respiratory infection, each kitten had two eye surgerys and are now ready to be adopted! They are amazing, happy kittens, that love to be around and cuddle with people. We know that their future adopters will be glad that cats like these are able to be saved, thanks to supporters like you.

A typical spay day involves taking 6-12 animals to locations around the DMV to get the most for your money.

This volunteer says, “I’m happy to do it, getting these cats the medical care they need prepares them for adoption. That’s what we’re all here for, right?”

This we are asking for your help getting animals ready for adoption by donating money to help with spays, neuters, vaccines, dewormer, and the many other medical needs we see every day!

We are happy to accept donations through our Mighty Cause link or through the donate button on this post.
