Still taking time but now the grass has come through it’s doing wonders her poos returning to normal and she has put on a bit of weight
Now she realises she can eat again there is no stopping her
She looks moody here but she really is happy with her two front teeth ♥️

So little update after having two 🦷 teeth out this January, Aiyannas weight was not where I wanted it to be so ditched the veteran vitality and chaff and headed straight back to what I knew baileys
Fingers crossed it’s taken some months and also some disheartening turns but now I seemed to be heading in the right direction and getting my old mare back happy and putting on weight
It’s hard having a thoroughbred as fussy as we know they are
But I think asking advice from baileys whom I use to use a lot when I was younger and adjusting her hay to hay bar as I know she hates it being on the floor seems to be doing the trick
Also riding is mentally good for them and she enjoys doing the long and short hacks keeps them happy 🐴

How is everyone coping this winter?
Aiyanna has been on loan for a little while now to someone who has more time than me and her weight has improved! New Year’s resolution! I hear she will be improving her fitness by working on her top line! She is so happy, I’m glad I made the right decision by putting her needs first and I still get to see her 🥰 🐴 Xx

Well a month ago I was worried my horse started to develop really patchy bald areas all over and her hair was falling out in weird places, she has lost her coat this time every year in the 15 years I have had her because that's what they do so I asked the vet to check it!!
He was going to test her for cushions for me as she is now 25 but when he came out he put it down to rain scald
Which yes is a relief but iv somehow over rugged her and its caused sweating and rain scald
So even though she doesn't keep her weight on aswell as she used to and having changing her food to suit her age, it was difficult this year especially as the temp was soooo up and down but also my friend who has an older horse enlightened me and told me they she'd differently when older so it's a relief it's not cushions disease 😉

So this page is created so when your horse/pony gets older you don't feel alone. You have some idea what people go through when dealing with something new along there horse journey. Weather this be an illness, change of circumstances, something your not sure of or loss of your best friend.
This page will be used to help you deal with problems to save calling the vet every 5 mins and making each other aware of problems we may not already know which exist in our own horses.
