Our Mission & Leadership

At Southern Paws Rescue we are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. Our mission is to provide 💕compassionate care, medical attention, and a safe haven for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. Through community outreach, education, and advocacy, we work to promote responsible pet ownership and reduce animal homelessness.

We also wanted to take a moment to introduce our incredible director/founder,✨Michelle Oakley✨!With a deep passion for animal welfare and years of experience in rescue work, she leads our team with unwavering dedication and compassion. Michelle has been instrumental in saving countless lives, building strong community partnerships, and ensuring that every 😻animal that comes through our doors gets the second chance they deserve. 👮‍♀️She works two jobs to ensure the animals are cared for and relies on donations to help with part of the operation.

Right now, Michelle is looking for more volunteers to help make an even bigger impact! ❤️Whether you can assist with 💉animal care, 🐶fostering, 🚕transportation, events, or behind-the-scenes support, your time and dedication can help save lives. Rosco is heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his rabies vaccination—he’s ready to go! ✅💉 He thrives with structure, patience, and someone willing to work with him on the little things. In return, you’ll get an incredibly loyal best friend 🐕‍🦺 who will stick by your side through thick and thin. 💙

🐾 Urgent Help Needed! 🐾

Yesterday was a big day for our rescue—five of our sweet pups received the vet care they desperately needed, including spay/neuter surgeries to ensure they have healthier, happier futures. While we’re overjoyed to give them this care, the vet bill came to $800, and we need your help to cover the cost.

Every dollar makes a difference. Whether it’s $5, $10, or more, your support helps us continue saving and caring for these precious dogs. If you can’t donate, a share goes a long way in reaching more animal lovers.

Someone asked us yesterday why they should get their dog neutered… this is one of the greatest reasons. Another important thing is that animals are more likely to get cancer if they aren’t fixed.

February is national Spay/Neuter Awareness Month. What better way to celebrate than by getting your companion animals spayed/neutered!

We are begging you to please get your animals spayed or neutered.
Please get your pets MICROCHIPPED too, in case they ever get loose and end up lost! Prevent unwanted litters and lessen the amount of homeless animals entering the shelter.

These ✨adorable✨ kittens are currently available for adoption, having received their necessary rabies vaccination, microchip implantation, and spaying/neutering. The gray kittens have reached 4 months of age, while the white kittens are 5 months old. All kittens have been litter box trained and are gradually becoming socialized with other animals. It's worth noting that the white kittens are very snuggly. Remember this beautiful mom that had her babies in a trash can on a strangers land in the country? We are saddened to say that she has passed away today. 😭 She went in to get spayed and there were complications, she didn’t make it out of the surgery. Gracie was a good momma and very sweet cat. She had a happy life with her foster mom and all the love that she wanted. Fly high sweet girl 🌈
