Said a tearful goodbye to my silly, scared boy, Scout. Here I come Lana and Luke!
Thank you ABESR, Transport and the 19 drivers who are making this happen! Happy tails!
WEEK 4 DAY 32
It’s been just one month since this super scared boy came to stay. Just this week:
He no longer stays in his crate. He runs all over the house.
He started eating out of Jake’s bowl, so we’ve moved his bowls into the kitchen.
I had a friend over for brunch and he only barked a few times, but came into the room with her. (Thank you, Claudia!)
He found toys and is playing!! I’m so excited for him.
Lizard patrol!!
WEEK 3 DAY 24
So many things with this guy! The reason I created this page is that I want potential fosters to be aware that not all dogs are easy fosters, but they are all worth it.
Scout will not come when called, however a whistle gets his attention. Unfortunately, I can’t whistle. But I’m working on it. Luckily, my phone can whistle.
I let him off leash in the yard, but he will not come to me to come inside. I open the door and whistle, then step away from the door while he runs in and runs straight into the crate. Once he calms down and comes out on his own, I close the crate. He readily explores the house, but is still very wary of noise or any quick or unexpected movement.
He does not want me to leash him, however he will not go outside on his own.
He will not eat or drink unless he is in his crate, and it’s covered. The food is outside the crate and must be under the cover.
When he’s scared, he pees as he runs away. He’s afraid of the dark so I take him out at sunup in the morning, but I haven’t been able to get him all the way outside to pee so I’ve used puppy pads in the hallway to save the carpet.
He does trust me as he seeks me out when afraid.
On the positive side, he explores the house and the yard with a happy tail! He’s discovered lizards! It’s going to be a slow process, but look at the progress we’ve made!
DAY 15
I’m still more comfortable in my crate, but when mom locks me out…
Exploring the house…
