Supervised socialisation is important with both children animals and different age dogs in order for a pup to learn manners and respect.
7 week old Bedlington terrier female pup, lovely stamp very outgoing and forward.
Why cross a Bedlington to a greyhound?
Why breed lurchers?
This is a great clip that shows what I feel are the benefits of the lurcher as a working companion.
Angel is an ex racing greyhound and as you can see by the fur missing on her legs loves nothing more than just laying and doing nothing, perfect for a dog developed to have a short but blistering run a handful of times in a day when used for either organised coursing or racing and the rest of the time laying in the dry.
Her 6 month old daughter has a very different job description....
A Kespole first cross is bred with a coat that holds off the harshest of weather repels the roughest of cover and has the drive to keep working in those conditions all day or night long if required, they aren't as tall as the greyhound and nothing can match thier speed but obviously both bigger and faster than it's Bedlington father.
Iv not seen Bedlington crosses with the heart and drive that my dog Bear produces when put to a greyhound.
Personally speaking I don't like the Bedlington whippet hybrid as if you get a small one they are little more useful than a long legged terrier and lacking speed due to its lack of stride length tend to be prone to yap in frustration in the field, so I don't produce them, Bare will produce as good a Bedlington whippet as you'll find but they won't be a whippet of mine.
I am looking at producing some 1/4 Bedlington 3/4 Greyhounds in the future using a Kespole 1st cross studs as there quite a few proving game and useful in the field this should produce a slightly bigger lurcher but still have the durability and determination of the Bedlingtons character and a less fine coat.
He has a nice shape about this young dog long back, strong and a good jacket to match.
He will make someone a fine lurcher next season.
A real working lurcher opportunity for someone here.
I'm not overly fussed if the bit*ch stays or goes that's the confidence I have in these Bedlington x Greyhounds, Iv plenty of stock on.
Going to be a very rough coated dog this with a jacket that will withstand the worst of british weather.
Some of the team and the two remaining Bedlington greyhounds learning some manors from the older dogs.
Full of spirit this brother and sister.
The dogs coat is like a Bedlingtons at this age a real rough un and the b*itch will make a lovely racey first cross with a broken jacket.
Just short of 8 weeks now and really super outgoing characters.
I don't advertise my pups on pet platforms I don't produce many Bedlingtons and Lurchers so when I do I try my up most to make sure they are going somewhere they are going to do what they've been bred for.
Looking for a genuine working lurcher for autumn/winter 24 ?
Dinner time 🐺
These will be more than enough lurcher for most people espically if you don't want kennels full of different dogs.
Somethings given time you can put into a working lurcher.
Somethings are just born in them.
Bred for the field, bred for work.
Male and Female for someone looking for a real allrounder.
6 weeks and fully independent away from thier Dam.
This black male was the pick of the litter but unfortunately due to personal circumstances he's now available as sadly the lad found himself unable to have a lurcher.
The female brindle is actually my own favourite she has some real character and everything you'd expect from a working Bedlington to a greyhound.
These will be super Lurchers this time next year for someone who can give them the time the deserve.
And they're off...
The Dam's done a great job with this lot so far first bit of soft food, few of our free range fresh chicken eggs and will be on raw meat this time next week.
People coming to select and reserve there next working lurcher today and over the weekend.
1 Dog n some bitchs here, our aim is always to get these out to working lurcher people and due to the lack of proper Bedlington lurchers produced using greyhounds we can be picky.
Super strong 1st cross pups absolutely shining.
Socialisation starts early, getting used to all the sounds smells a noises of a busy family household.
2.5 weeks old.
1 dog and 3 bitchs to go.
Medium size rough coated Hardy Lurchers.
Angels pups have arrived.
Hard to believe they are only a day old 👀how strong they are.
5 bi*tchs and 2 Dogs.
Bedlington x Greyhound.
Proper working bred lurcher for someone to bring on over the summer!
Absolutely perfect for stubble time.
This has the drive intelligence speed and brains to make a perfect mooching companion.
Expect a very biddable 21/22 inch broken coated firecracker.
Kespole first cross Bedlington greyhound.
Always great to get positive feed back from a pup you produce.
How's that for a blind retrieve for a puppy!
What a cracking job Harvey Russell is doing with this young female Kespole Bedlington x Greyhound lurcher.
The drive is there with these pups which makes training them a pleasure if you know how to channel it.
Good nose plenty of fire high hopes for this litter fo next season in thier working homes.
Bedlington greyhound pups 2 dogs and a bi*tch.
They need no encouragement this cross a proper workers.
2 young females.
I don't purposely breed for livers but the blood in my kennel is dominanted by animals of that colour and bear having been used as stud being a liver as well as Lexi, the right blue dog will brought in eventually if I find one of the correct stamp and attitude in the field.
Mig Bred by Gary Jones late 2021.
Nelly from my only litter of Bedlingtons last year born in late spring 2022 both closely related.
Nice size not too big not too small, these can easily carry out a days work covering large tracts of land over any terrain an all round terrier, not a small take to an earth on couple breed really, 15-16 inch would be about the size both just spanable with the classic Bedlington shape suites me, looks don't work but I'm happy the direction they are going in stamp wise.
Personally speaking I find Bedlingtons don't want rushing, let them be pups until the penny drops and they'll be away.
Two first cross Kespole beddy greyhounds starting thier working life in Kent today.
I told the new owners they'd have thier hands full !
No squirrels were hurt in the filming of this clip ( owing to it being dead before hand 😅 )
Some of Bear X Aces pups that are now 15 months old.
This is what you should expect from a good lurcher producing Bedlington when paired to a greyhound. Showing great gameness in the field the pups who's owners Iv kept in touch with and what we kept back.
Pups finding thier feet.
Sensibly entered they'll be ready to start on a few easy rabbits come stubble time and this time next year ready for a nights lamping or day out with the ferrets. 🌾🐇.
Bedlington greyhound Lurchers.
