Tolman Farms Brabants We breed high percentage Brabant horses. Brabants are old-style Belgians that are rare in the U.S. They are mainly seen in Europe.

We have several varying percentage mares, and a tier 1 (100%) stud we imported from Belgium in 2016!

Well, we were short-handed and definitely slow at advertising and getting our foals sold! 🤦🏼‍♀️ haven’t advertised this guy at all yet this year, so here’s your chance at him!

High percentage by our imported stallion and out of one of our most true European Brabant mares. 😍 he’s a cool one! Bay roan and sweet as can be! So willing to please.

All the weanlings except two! Plus their little palomino babysitter 😂

I love watching the horses dynamics in a herd. The bay roan and mini palomino are always together and the sorrel is a little loner. The other four stick together. Horses can be so cliquey 😳😂

Lastly, does anyone’s horses actually use the shelters in their pasture? Ours only use it for shade in the heat of summer. Snow and rain?? They just stand in the open. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

What would you know??? We bred our blue quarter horse mare to a blue half draft we raised and what do you know? We got a sorrel! 🤦🏼‍♀️ good thing he’s a cute sorrel! Look at that little snip on his nose 🥰

Here were the color probabilities when you breed blue to blue:
56% blue roan
18% red roan
18% black
6% sorrel

Last week we had a beautiful blue filly out of one of our favorite blue mares, Fiona! She was perfect and healthy and everything went smoothly. Until 12 hours had passed and Fiona still hadn’t delivered her placenta even with all our efforts to help her. So off to the vet we went. He was able to get it out and then flushed her out and put her on an antibiotic. So all is well now and momma and baby are healthy. But man, if it isn’t one thing, it’s another! Breeding is not for the faint of heart! There’s so many highs as well as some lows. You can do everything right and still run into complications. Sometimes things happen for no good reason at all and there’s no explanation to tell you why. Something that didn’t seem like a huge deal quickly turned into an emergency. That is why it is soooo important to educate ourselves and be ready to act when a situation calls for it.

4 healthy foals on the ground and 4 more to go. Fingers crossed for no more complications! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

She is by our imported stud luka, and out of our bay mare.

She is double registered with the ABA and the Belgian Corp. ⭐️

She is full Belgian, 65% Brabant.

I don’t know if I should be jealous or what... this filly is obsessed with my husband 😂 This little red roan filly was born two days ago and is our one and only half draft this year. She is by our imported stud luka, and out of a foundation bred “Blue Valentine” QH mare. She is one cool filly!

I think our 3-year-old geldings are ready for warmer weather. How about you???
