Last module for 2024 Parker University Animal Chiropractic Program! Here is the next generation of animal chiropractic providers. Next stop is their American Veterinary Chiropractic Association exam. It was such a joy to teach this year and looking forward to next year! I didn’t get pictures with everyone I wanted. But here are some 🙂

Remember - animal chiropractic is a joint program for both chiropractors for humans (DCs) and veterinarians (DVMs). It takes us both learning from each other to give the best chiropractic care to your pet.

Be patient with those brachial plexus avulsion injuries (injured group of nerves supplying the forelimb causing nerve damage and loss of function). They can take many months to heal. Some animals do not recover function of the limb, but some do - like Buford here! The limb may or may not ever be completely normal, but it is functional and that’s what we want. These injuries can be so discouraging for several months not seeing much visible progress, but press on and you may see recovery. The first part of the video is Buford 1 month post injury and on his first chiropractic adjustment day, and the second part of the video is Buford 7 months post injury. Videos shared with client permission.
Recommended modalities to help the body heal include: chiropractic, laser, acupuncture, and herbal therapies.

Another animal chiropractic training module in the books! Love these fun weekends of teaching and of fellowshipping with great friends and colleagues. Tired and hot, but a good kind of tired. ❤️

Remember - animal chiropractic is a joint program for both Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs, chiropractors) and Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVMs, vets). It takes us both learning from each other to give the best animal chiropractic service to your pet.

Good for them! Animal chiropractic finally inside of a veterinary school! Both small and large animal. This is a HUGE win for animal chiropractic! When I was in vet school I never heard of animal chiropractic and so many of my colleagues are ignorant of its benefits at no fault of their own, but this makes it very challenging for animals to get directed to the care that they need. This is a huge step in the right direction of veterinarians being educated from the very beginning on the benefits of animal chiropractic.

Even the smallest get adjusted. He says “Thank you” ❤️. Six-week old kitten getting a healthy start to life with a chiropractic adjustment allowing his nervous system to function optimally. He and his siblings are also available for adoption at North 78 Pet Hospital!

Someone felt really good after his adjustment 🤗 This yearling Miniature Pony was full galloping and neighing before I got the camera out. I don’t always see this response but it’s fun when it happens. Chiropractic adjustments often relax the central nervous system and stimulate rest and digest phase of the body which can be seen in the patient taking a nice nap shortly following an adjustment. Other times, the central nervous system can be “woken up” and the patient will have more energy shortly following an adjustment which is evident here.

Photobiomodulation Therapy (also known by cold laser and several other acronyms) has been scientifically demonstrated to promote healing, decrease inflammation, and reduce pain by directly affecting the pain signaling pathway of the nerves. It’s a wonderful noninvasive / non pharmaceutical modality for healing and pain control. With the MedcoVet Luma Laser pet owners can take advantage of this therapy every day from home. The Luma Laser is home safe (will not damage the eyes). It is rented and returned or purchased. Let me know if you’d like to get started.

Thank you to North 78 Pet Hospital for sharing their lovely room with me. I’m now seeing patients in office! House calls remain offered too. Now more options to reach more animals in need with chiropractic care. I love the sweet pink color and sunshine of this room. I think any kitty would agree 🤗.

I got to see Layla again today. She’s such a sweet girl. This photo is from a previous adjustment where she is relaxing afterwards. Her owner notices that if she is not adjusted once a month (wellness maintenance), that she does not go into the canter as easily. Once adjusted, she picks up her lead right away. This is such a key point to realize in horses - many times we contribute certain behaviors to attitude or “just being a mare”, but often times it is due to physical discomfort. If your horse is giving you any type of attitude or difficulty, always assume pain first and get them checked out by a licensed and certified professional.

One of my patients, you gotta love that face ❤️. This is Minnie. She has spinal cord issues that are affecting her mobility. Since starting chiropractic her owner reports that her mobility is improving and her spirits are brighter. It has been amazing each week to feel the muscles in her pelvis and spine become stronger and see her using her limbs more. I love it. (Posted with client permission.)

You guys. I'm doing a relief shift at a wellness clinic today and a dog came in with an ear infection. Subluxations of the atlas (first vertebra of the neck) can contribute to ear infections as it causes inflammation to the nerves supplying the ears, and adjusting the atlas can help in the healing process of the ears. I palpated the atlas, found it subluxated, and with the owner's permission gave the adjustments and cleared the subluxations. The pet immediately stopped panting, relaxed down onto the table, and looked up at me with gratefulness in his eyes. I love doing chiropractic!
