Talk about history repeating itself!!
Pictured is the first Paint Mare imported to Australia. R TOUCH OF GOLD. Dam of many champion halter horses.
Second pic is Classy Miss Pippa and her Filly foal Serene Queen (filly is arriving here soon). The filly goes back to R Touch of Gold. Five generations back. I had a lot to do with this mare when I was a kid working with Reece Burchall and Rose Rowlands. Like seriously. How strong are her genes. Four and five generations down she’s still coming through the lines strong. Im so excited to have a piece of my childhood history come back to me. Three horses in her pedigree I worked with. Which was Holster A Sirtain Touch. He was born at Holster Stud when I was there. R Touch of Gold his dam and good old Sir Sonita Bar his sire.

A tip for those doing Ranch riding. I learnt the hard way and found out after the class lol

How many of us show in the Ranch Trail but are unaware of the purpose of, or how to correctly perform the drag manouevre? Is your horse adequately prepared to drag an object? Do you as a rider know how to handle your rope and dally correctly, for both rider and horse safety?

Here is a great article from the AmQHA Journal explaining the intent behind this manouevre, which is a mandatory obstacle in the RHAA Amateur & Open level divisions of Ranch Trail (note that for green, heritage snaffle bit and youth divisions the drag obstacle is not permitted).
