The “octopus” toy is a big hit for the tug-o-war game they play.

Getting their supplements ready ahead of time for 10pm and 4am feeding time.

The supper time food mix has raw honey, a bit of oatmeal and coconut oil.

Lunch time had pumpkin purée and chopped green beans added to the mix.

Dr. Zeirath at The Bluffs Pet Clinic has been absolutely amazing during this puppy journey.
From Lacie in labor with the 13th puppy to treating Lacie for metritis, mastitis and seeing the puppies at a few hours old to today, the puppies at their 6 week wellness exam.
They all passed the wellness exam with zero concerns, and are given the green light to go to their homes when they’re 8 weeks old.

No more than 2-3 minutes of putting a kennel in the puppy area and they find comfort in it.
There are 5 puppies in this kennel 😂

Of course when the puppies wake at 4am to have an early breakfast I feel like I have to hold every one and give each one equal attention.

We added the floor mats yesterday for an additional surface for them to walk on and experience.

These p**p machines had clean peepads, bathed and their area fresh blankets 20 minutes ago.
Second bath in 2 days.

What is the significance of this?
These are 4 different blankets that have been in the puppy area since they were born.
Peed and p**ped on, washed, slept on, repeat.
When puppies are ready for their new home, it’s important for them to have that familiar smell of their litter mates with them to the new home.
It reduces stress immensely.
The 11 puppies that will be leaving us in a few weeks, will be taking a piece of these blankets with them to help the transition to the new homes a bit more comfortable.

This girl has already stolen my heart.
Gypsie is such a spitfire!
Just caught a video of all of the puppies sleeping except her. She was just romping through the play area like nobody’s business ♥️
She’s also the biggest at over 12 lbs and she’s not even 6 weeks old yet.

Grinding up some freezer burnt pork and venison we got for free.
The puppies have had a taste of just about every common meat.
Beef, chicken, turkey, venison and pork.
They’re starting to rip apart some meaty bone and chewing on those a bit.

How many of you have a pet that goes CRAAAZY at the sound of a doorbell or door knocking?
Fireworks?
Emergency siren?

Were they taught this behavior?
Do you allow this?
Are they a guard dog or just annoying with this behavior?
How do you feel about this behavior?
Do you wish the breeder had done some desentisizing?

When we knew Lacie and Sully were having puppies, we (I mostly 😜) started researching and learning about what to do and not to do with a litter of puppies.

One small task that literally takes a few seconds to set up, is the sound desentisizing.
Set up a youtube sound that plays for a couple hours and walk away.
The noise these puppies listen to while they are sleeping, playing, eating, will accustom them to the world of noises and make it a bit easier for them to accept these noises and not react negatively, as they are older.

You will have no idea until the time comes as to what you will be spending on an English Mastiff. Is this going to be a hardship?
Because Mastiffs are about the most expensive breeds you can possibly own. Pet insurance is a must but most companies require you to pay first and then get your 80% reimbursed after the deductible is paid. For a giant a CCL surgery is about $5000. Blockage could be $2000 or more. Speuter at age 2 is weight dependent and that could be $500 to $1000 depending on where you live.
Food depends on the quality. The cheap crap will end up costing you more in the long run in vet bills. There are middle of the road foods with good ingredients and not made by heavy advertisers. thinking 4health or costco or? So some dogs will eat 6 cups and others will eat 12 cups all depends on the food itself.
Then I always say add real food. A bit of fresh veggie or meat added or some sardines, an egg, or bone broth etc. REAL food instead of dry dead food 😉 And if your pup ends up with sensitive tummy or other issues then the food may be specialized food which can cost more. I raw feed and would not go back to kibble.
