The current 🐔 coop is coming along nicely and the weather over the past few days has been amazing! It's hard to beat working outside when the sun is shining and there's a steady breeze. (Gotta love God's air-conditioning 😀) Hope y'all have a great weekend and hopefully y'all are having nice weather too!

Coming soon! Our newest coop design, The Vintage Chicken Tractor. Perfect for those small backyard broods. On wheels, easy to move. You can tell it’s easy to move since my little helper is trying to lift it. Easy access to the nest box and run. Solid custom built frame with repurposed fence boards for siding and trim. We’ve taken some of the old fence boards, feathered and lapped them for the roof. Once it’s all finished, we will add a good quality water repellent to the old wood that will protect it for years to come!! A perfect small coop that is easy in the budget. When planning for your chicken coop, remember that a too-small coop can cause problems in your brood, such as:-Aggressive behavior: chickens confined to too-small areas will resort to excessive pecking and other aggressive behaviors. Having a large enough coop means they do not need to compete for resources and will get along better. If aggressive behavior starts, it can spread to the rest of the brood and cause hostile conditions.-High ammonia levels: In a too-small coop, manure and urine will build up much faster. This causes excessive ammonia levels that threaten the air quality and the health of your chickens. Keep the floor of your coop clean and dry to prevent ammonia buildup and improve the health of your chickens.-Reduced egg production: When hens lack enough resources, they will become stressed and fail to produce eggs at their maximum capacity. On the other hand, a too-large coop can cause problems too:-Takes longer to clean-In winter, they will either be too cold or you will spend more on heatingIf you’re unsure what the right size for you is, asking your farm supply store or other local experts is always a good place to start.

Loaded up the coop yesterday with a little leverage and my trusty come along 💪🏻. Truth be told though, I'm pretty sure an electric winch is in my future 😃⁣\n⁣\nI built this coop on a set of skids and they made loading sooooo much easier! ⁣\n⁣\nWhat big stuff have you loaded before and how did you do it?

As I build more and more chicken coops, my paint prep has evolved to give me better and faster results. The first coop I painted was brushed and rolled by hand, but now I’ve switched to spraying them. While this does mean a lot of the coop has to be masked off, products like Scotch Original Painters Tape and the 3M Hand-Masker make the job so much easy
