💭 Has your furry friend ever had a hotspot? 🐶
👉 Hotspots are a common skin condition in dogs that can be painful and uncomfortable for your pet. It is red, wet, hot and angry areas of skin that can appear suddenly, usually in less than 36 hours. They are typically caused by a variety of factors, such as allergies, flea bites, or self-inflicted trauma. If your dog has a hotspot, here's what you can do:
- Trim the fur around the hotspot to allow light and air in, and also make cleaning easier.
- Work with your veterinarian to identify and address the underlying cause of the hotspot, whether it's an allergy or a flea infestation. They will then prescribe some treatment to clean and heal the area like a topical product to soothe the hotspot and promote healing. Depending on the situation antiseptic products such as DOUXO® S3 PYO Pads or purely soothing product sur as DOUXO® S3 CALM Pads may be used to relieve your pet.
- Allow healing: a buster collar might be prescribed to avoid licking and scratching when you are not around.
👉 Remember, hotspots can be very uncomfortable for your dog, so it's important to act fast and seek veterinary care if necessary. With proper care and attention, your furry friend can recover from a hotspot quickly and comfortably. 🐾
