This is a true story depicting how much loyal and compassionate dogs can be.

Togo, a Siberian Husky, who ran about 300 miles in the treacherously frozen terrain to save many people’s lives.

In 1925, a deadly outbreak of diphtheria threatened people’s lives, especially children at high risk, in an Alaskan town named “Nome”.

The batch of diphtheria antitoxin stocked at the local hospital had expired. Unless antitoxin was supplied, the mortality rate could be close to 100%.

With brutal weather conditions below -30 degrees Celsius and an expected blizzard, it was impossible to get the antitoxin by air or sea.

The closest that the 300,000 units of serum could reach by rail was up to Nenana, 674 miles away from Nome. It was decided to send twenty teams of sled dogs that would relay the serum to each other. Togo was leading one of the sled teams. He was the lead sled dog of Leonhard Seppala.

While other teams ran on an average of thirty miles, Togo led its sled team against gale-force winds covering 300 miles.

Finally, the serum was delivered, saving the lives of many. This epic run is called “Great race of mercy”.

Disney+ made a movie as well.

A study was done to understand whether buying an inexpensive gift for pets increases happiness. The participants were given $5, which they can spend on themselves or for other people or their dog. People who spent money on their dogs reported feeling happier than the others.

So friends, next time when you feel a bit low, buy a little gift for your lovely furry. The amount may be as little as you can afford, but it is the love for your furry that matters the most!
