We have all these false dandelions that are providing food for the pollinators. This bee was quite yellow with pollen.
We are in the process of being Certified Naturally Grown NC.
Sweet Be's Farm will serve as a food source for our community with fresh, healthy, seasonal produce grown on our farm as well as other value added products made from farms nearby.

What number do you get?

This is our golden egg! The first from our hens that we got in the Spring.
🎃Pumpkin Carving Tips🎃
1. Cut the bottom off instead of the top.
2. Use a hand mixer to get the guts out fast.
3. Use a dry erase marker to draw a face (easy to erase after).
4. Put vaseline around the openings so it stays moist.
5. Sprinkle cayenne pepper inside so critters stay away.
HAPPY CARVING🎃
Hippiefest weekend starts now!
We are jamming it up! Come see what we brought! 😋
Hippie Fest is a grassroots festival featuring vibrant entertainment for all ages. It's groovy baby!
I have a couple of small American Beautyberries from . They were doing a trade of pots for plants! I also planted seeds and they are on the warming rack. Lets see if any of them sprout!
Do you see this perfect hole? A limb dropped off of our oak tree and this was in the center. What creature formed this?
You see the fungi, too?
This is a 20ft+ pumpkin vine. I had to curve it so it would stay on our property. We have just a few pumpkins, but did you know you can EAT the leaves and the blossoms??????
If you been to a store or to the farm, you have seen pumpkins growing or arriving for your purchase. They are great for crafting and EATING! Dont let your pumpkin go to waste. If you dont eat your pumpkin, wildlife love it. Ask a farmer if you can donate or use this app:

Something has snatched some of my pansy plugs!
Check for native plants when landscaping.
This is the life cycle of a squash beetle. They love to eat the leaves, vines, and even the fruit of your concurbits. I normally plant nasturiums nearby to repel these guys, but this year I didnt. A quick flick into a bowl to feed to chickens or squish on the vine does the trick as pesticides are not an option!
I have this hibiscus and the flowers are huge! This is a .
These bees love these pumpkin blossoms. I picked a few of these male flowers to share At the market today or to eat tonight. Did you know that the leaves are edible too?.?
Have you heard about purslane??? A multivitamin in a plant!!!
I saved some purslane from a market in Huntersville a couple of years ago. Now I grow it to sell. It is such a great plant and even will has small flowers. Totally edible. Check this site out about how you could eat it. Great raw or cooked.
https://ourpermaculturelife.com/20-ways-eat-purslane/
There is a whole book about it too if you are more curious.
Have you ever wondered how to eat one of the most common garden ‘weeds’ in the world. I have listed 20 ways to eat purslane and there are so many more!
Two of many mushrooms that are growing here. I dont think they are edible. Some say they are part of the aminita family. Do you know mushrooms?
This is african blue basil. It is said to get 4 to 6 ft tall and is a variety that is a perennial!!!! It's a cross between camphor basil and dark opal basil and you can propagate by cuttings! I took the seeds/tops off a few plants and it smells so good.
I love growing herbs and having a variety ready to cut for meals. Cooking with fresh herbs makes a good dish great and a great one even better.
If you grow more than you can immediately use, just harvest leaves (mid-morning is the best time after the morning dew has dried but the afternoon sun isn’t at its strongest), spread them out in a single layer on paper towels on cookie sheets or on old window screens and let them air dry, then crumble them and store them in airtight containers in a cool, dark spot.
In addition to smelling wonderful and looking pretty, culinary herbs also have some amazing health benefits for both people and animals.
All of these are potted for sale: Sage, rosemary, lemongrass, cilantro, chives, stinging nettle, & purslane.
We are part of the party. Come out, have some fun and meet great entrepreneurs.

I have started making reusable market bags to sell to support our farm. $10 each.
Happy Independence Day!
Ever wonder what creates the colors??
Some beneficials of the eight legged variety hiding in the fruit and veg.
Do you see what is sleeping here???

I started the process of fermenting garlic in local honey....check out the very condensed version. You just have to "burp" the containers and ferment for at least a week. You can keep the jars in the fridge and it turns into a delicious healthy treat. 😁 #honey #garlic #fermentedgarlichoney #ferment #sweetbes2021 #smallbusiness
The kids enjoyed watching swallowtail caterpillars on our rue plant eat all the leaves. The rue plant was planted for medicinal properties, but now it has another purpose. Emelia wanted me to show her their defense mechanism. "Swallowtail caterpillars have a defense mechanism called osmeterium. Osmeterium are a fleshy organ where caterpillars of swallowtail species sequester essential oils from their host plants, also known as terpenes. These oils coat the normally hidden osmeterium which can be everted or pushed out when the caterpillar is threatened."
We planted about 6lbs of garlic in the Fall '20 and just pulled the first variety (Chengdu garlic) to start curing.
We are putting in a few rain barrels. Some leaf litter had to be moved, but there is one mad Carpenter bee inside the handle to the wheelbarrow. #sweetbes2021 #carpenderbee #rainbarrels
