Been a busy 2 weeks playing with Molly and then Theo. Time for a rest now I’m home.
Trying out a new dog sitter and trying to establish new rules. Not sure it is working as I still keep getting told to get off. 😫
Lovely morning for the beach
Back at my favourite spot. Great way to start the day.
Love taking the folks to new spots, but this time the Sparrow showed me this one. She had been here with her sketching group. Fantastic, lots of different winding paths, shady with lots of new smells. It even has a huge lake, but I wasn’t allow to go for a swim. Lots more exploring to do.
Here’s me doing a water safety demo for the other dogs. Swim across the current, not against it.
Glad I showed the folks this spot. One of my favourites.
Started 2024 well with an early walk on the beach. Went to the beach everyday when I was staying with Aunty Sharan and Uncle Mark. I had forgotten how good it was, so my New Year’s Resolution is to take the folks to the beach more often this year.
Happy New Year everyone. I couldn’t make it to midnight.
On holidays again! The folks have found me a great spot with Sharan and Mark. They live opposite the beach, so I am getting multiple beach walks every day. Plus I got to spend yesterday at Doggie Adventure Playhouse which was pawsome but exhausting. Not sure how long I’ll be here, but sure the folks will start missing me soon, so I’ll have to go home eventually.
We went to the beach!
Don’t wake me up, I was sleeping!
Thank you for all the birthday wishes. We did go to the beach, but I still had to have a bath afterwards! A bath! On my birthday! I did get this ‘cake’ for my dinner. Big dog pattie with pumpkin yoghurt ´icing’ and blueberries. Yum.
Why so glum you might ask. Well I have been sitting here waiting for my birthday presents or even just a ‘Happy Birthday Enzo!’, but no. It has taken the Sparrow until 10am to even remember!
Hope I get a trip to the beach to make up for it. Just might stay sitting here looking glum with a few sighs mixed in for good measure, to make them feel really guilty.
The Silverback and Sparrow are watching a lot of football at the moment. Apparently, loads of women have come to Australia from all over the world to play. I thought I should have a go too. I think I am getting the hang of it.
This is what I call a ‘Winston Churchill’ stick!
Found a great stick on the beach this morning!
Just couldn’t manage to pick it up!
Some things are better left where they are!
‘Nice photo!’ says the Silverback.
‘Thanks!’ says the Sparrow, ‘lovely atmospheric clouds on the beach, might be in for a shower though.’
‘The dog’s a bit small!’ sez I.
Fading away to a shadow!
The folks had a videoconference Xmas lunch with the Perth rellies yesterday. So lunch started at 3pm!
It was nice to see all the rellies on the telly! By the time they’d finished it was WAY past my dinner time… AND THEN they sat on the sofa chatting until they nodded off! (They had Covid last week and are prone to nodding off at the moment!)
Anyhow, after a while they woke up and decided to have an early night. HANG ON thought I… haven’t had my dinner yet! I sat at the bedroom door looking pathetic!
Goodnight Enzo says the Sparrow…
Nothing but faint snoring heard. At one point they woke up and the Sparrow said ‘I don’t think I gave Enzo his dinner’.
‘Too right’ I thought. Now we’ll see some action.
‘He had some dinner treats, he’ll be ok’ says the Silverback.
Hang on thinks I, just ask me, I’ll let you know how I’m going…
Faint snoring resumed…. It was very dark now, so I went to bed.
‘Merry Xmas Enzo’ sez I to myself…
Merry Christmas everyone!
Turned out to be a good year. I was a bit concerned when Ziggy eloped with the lady from Toowoomba, but we’ve been so busy that we hardly noticed he’d gone! The folks managed to get all the renovations finished over Winter and the remainder of the year has been about getting involved in the local art and music communities. As usual, they seem to have leapt in boots and all, but then, mustn’t grumble… I still get to go to the beach every day and breakfast and dinner usually arrive right on time! Hope the man in red comes down your chimney. Try to remember not to bite him! He’s a good fella really…
All fixed, now best of friends. Even allowed him to sleep on Aunty Jo’s rug...well his feet at least.
5 minutes later.
Proof that reindeers know how to fly.
Found it trying to sneak into the house in Sparrow’s shopping bag! I made sure it didn’t get far.
Been practicing my dribbling skills this morning while the Sparrow watches the World Cup on her phone.
More photos of my early morning walks. How good is that stick. I even managed to carry it a few yards.
Going to be hot today, so got out early.
Weather is warming up and it is just too warm to sleep inside my ’box’.
Another day another stick!

Sparrow took this video of me taking my stick for a walk along the Rattler Trail near the caravan park this morning. So peaceful.
Poppy and I found a better use for the ‘bop on the head’ toy. Who’s laughing now Santa?
Willy Willy attack! Check this out! We’d just filled Ziggy up at the servo when this Willy Willy formed and was heading straight for us! Luckily we were all back in the van. I told the folks to fasten their seatbelts and assumed the brace position in my travel bed. I’ve seen twisters on the Discovery Channel and was a bit worried Ziggy might be about to get his first flying lesson! Then, just before it reached us, it blew itself out. Close call!

Enzo travel dog
A dog’s guide to travelling Australia with humans.
Top dog:
Enzo, that’s me. The canine formerly known as ‘wonder dog’.
Mission Statement:
To travel Australia and provide a guide for other dogs wishing to do the same.
Spoiler alert – it’s essential to take humans with you, their opposable thumbs and upright stance make them ideal for opening doors, cooking dinner and other such activities dogs should never have to do for themselves.
Entourage:
Mum and Dad- not my real parents, just call them that to make them feel loved. Sometimes known as the Sparrow and Silverback, depending on my mood. Multi-skilled crew members. The Sparrow mainly functions as my dietician and photographer. The Silverback is principally my biographer but also performs a variety of general support functions.
Yuri – transgender polar bear, much travelled. Started life in the UK when the Sparrow was a girl. A source of much wise counsel. Yuri is probably my real mother, though generally referred to as ‘he’. All I know is he has been in my bed for as long as I can remember. Kept me from the cold when I was a puppy. My most significant other being, Yuri has never needed repair. Attacking polar bears is unwise – even if you’re a wonder dog!
Mini- small white Rabbit, sometimes substitutes for Uri in the campervan. An evolutionary distant cousin. Needs repairs periodically. Like all rabbits, Mini tends not to fight back!
Stick- rubber tugging toy made by Kong, my favourite indoor plaything. Particularly useful for engaging the Silverback after dinner.
Ball – my favourite outside toy. Particularly good for the beach. Works both in and out of the water.
