Meet Aegon!

Aegon is a four-month-old male kitten.

Aegon is super playful and an absolute ball of energy!! He loves to jump, climb, and play hard. He hasn't met a toy he didn't love.

Since Aegon has so much energy, we recommend he gets adopted into a home with another cat or is adopted with another kitten.

Aegon is vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLV (neg/neg), flea-treated, and dewormed.

Meet Saera!

Saera is a petite, five-month-old female kitten.

Saera is playful and curious - she loves to play with her siblings! She especially loves dinner time and a nice can of Fancy Feast.

She can be a little shy when you first meet her, but she opens up once she is comfortable.

Saera only knows life with friends, so we suggest a home with another cat or for her to be adopted alongside another cat/kitten.

Meet Daemon!

Daemon is a one-year-old orange male tabby. He has a kind and mild-mannered disposition and gets along with other cats! Due to his easy-going personality, we think he would also be OK with kids and dogs, with proper acclimation.

Daemon is also independent enough that we think he'd be OK as an only cat, too!

Daemon is still young and loves to play. He loves a good treat and a nice head scratch!

Daemon is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FeLV/FIV (neg/neg), flea-treated, and dewormed.

Wild Birds Unlimited reached out to us to see if we would be interested in placing an adult foster at their store. We thought Reese would be a perfect option since she loves people and birding!

This will give her great exposure to finally find her forever home. She’s been waiting so long!

She’s now at the store, ready to meet you, and help stock shelves with all of her toes!

🖤Jason Update🖤

We realized you may have wanted a little Jason update. 😻

(Apologies - our real job has had us out of town and very busy!!)

We also think this pic says it all! His biopsy results are still pending, BUT he hasn’t vomited since Friday!

Which is amazing. He still has a cough, but it appears his treatments are still doing their thing. The doctors advised he stay on his meds for the time being.

It’s drastic what can happen in a week, but we are happy to report that he is happy in his home and seemingly on the mend!

We are so happy for Jason and his new family!! We are sure they feel as relieved as we are!!

🖤Jason Update🖤

We have promising news tonight, we couldn’t be happier. He’s not totally out of the woods, but things are trending up!

Jason was given antibiotics, steroids, and anti-nausea medications. He was able to keep them down and did not throw up once overnight. He was also SUPER hungry - always a good sign - and ate all of his food… again, without getting sick!

He is on GI sensitive food for the time being, but he seems to be enjoying it.

He still has a cough but it also seems to be improving.

His new owners report that despite the last few days he was back to being his loving and affectionate self, too!!

Again, thank you to everyone who has reached out and donated to his care! Thank you for loving Jason as much as we do!

🖤 Jason Update 🖤

Jason spent the evening in the ER and was back for more tests this morning.

Last night he had more bloodwork and x-rays. Unfortunately, most of the tests came back with nothing definitive about his condition.

Overnight he threw up some mucus but his breathing stabilized.

This morning he had an ultrasound and an upper x-ray. He has lot of gas is in his intestines, but there appears to be no foreign bodies inside. This is good. His upper x-ray was unremarkable and he began to cough during the procedure so they couldn’t go further.

His pancreas showed inflammation, but it’s rare for cats to have pancreatitis… so we are hopeful it is not that.

Up to this point, it added an extra $900 in bills.

There is some good news, his foster-to-adopt family had officially adopted him and are continuing his care. They’ve already ordered an endoscopy for him.

We are so absolutely grateful for having such dedicated adopters! They were with him until 3am in the ER and had him back at the vet today. Most people would have walked away at this point.

As we’ve said, Jason is a special cat. He has a wonderful soul and we know they feel that, too. I personally had him in foster for months and I can honestly say he’s the kind of foster you’d fail. Everyone that meets him falls in love, it’s pretty crazy it took this long for him to find a family.

We are so happy he found the right one.

Jason needs your help 🥺

Jason entered a foster-to-adopt last week and this week he fell ill. We figured it may be stress of a new environment because that’s a very typical response for cats.

We figured some antibiotics may do the trick and that would be that. It wasn’t.

He then started vomiting and had a cough. He was taken back to the vet today for bloodwork, x-rays, and another exam. About $600 later, he seemed to be doing OK.

He got home and still wasn’t right. He may have potential labored breathing, so he was rushed to the ER. We anticipate yet another hefty bill to figure out what could be wrong. Unfortunately, some of his tests may need to be redone since the regular vet isn’t open to transfer records. 😩

Jason is a young, handsome, amazing cat. He’s been with us for the better part of a year and has been totally healthy up to this point. It breaks our hearts that he is so close to having a forever home and this has begun to happen.

It’s unfortunately not odd in rescue for ailments to seemingly come out of nowhere… but the bills can be crushing!

Please consider donating to Jason’s care… at the very least please keep him in your thoughts and send him good vibes! He’s a special guy and we are so concerned about him.

It's National Community Cat Day!

Today we are sending so much love to those who support community cats. It takes a lot of compassion and sacrifice to love community cats.

A community cat cannot be socialized into a home but will take shelter in the warm places you provide them, they'll eat the food you pay for out of your own pocket, and they'll live healthier because of you. Some will show you looks of appreciation... and some will still show you disdain. 😹

Thank you to all who provide the crucial services of trap, neuter, and return. You're keeping community cats healthier and keeping their population at bay. The difficult work may often feel like spitting into the ocean, but it is so meaningful to the lucky cats to receive such care.

The love of community cats runs deep within our hearts. They are why we even started this crazy rescue thing!

Not only do we provide for our adoptable fosters, but we also provide to community cats by way of food, shelters, spay/neuter, and other medical care.

Karlach the Kitten, Protector of the Pile

Hailing from the verdant forests of the Wild Wood, Karlach, a noble kitten of the Baldurs Gate Clan , seeks a loyal companion to share her adventures. Though her stature may seem big and floofy, her heart is as gentle as a giant. Karlach's bravery has often led her litter into daring escapades, proving her unwavering loyalty and protective instincts.

While once wary of the strange creatures known as humans, Karlach has found solace in the company of her foster family. Their kindness and the delectable offerings (canned food and churus) they provide have warmed her heart like the fires of Avernus, allowing her to trust and bond with them. Though her noble duties often keep her busy, Karlach enjoys moments of respite, indulging in playful antics and mischief.

Our friends at Trash Cat Rescue had the challenge to trap a whole bunch of cats this weekend!

We stepped in and offered a little help in an area that’s riddled with cats! We’ve been trapping in this area for four years now.

We were happy to help Trash Cat out to meet their goal and perpetuate TNR & spay/neuter. All of the cats are getting fixed today.

Nightshade is still looking for a home!

Nightshade was originally caught for TNR (trap neuter return) on October 30th, but it was quickly discovered that he was a friendly boy! Since he was trapped right before Halloween, he was aptly named Nightshade by his foster mama. He has been enjoying his life indoors and deserves a forever home!

This sweet, spooky boy is about 2 years old, LOVES attention, and is very curious. He is playful and affectionate and enjoys getting brushed. Nightshade is a big boy who also loves to eat! He is fine with other cats, given the proper introduction.

He is neutered, vaccinated, FIV/FelV tested (neg/neg), dewormed, and ready to go!

Strawberry is still looking for a home!

Strawberry is the best cat. She's an alpha cat, and she knows it. She has a striking "torbie" (tortoiseshell + tabby) coat and looks like a wild cat. She is energetic and acts younger than her age. She loves playing with feather wands, galloping around the house, and zooming in and out of the crinkle tunnel. She is an effortless jumper and wants to be up high - expect to find her looking down from atop the fridge or cabinets.

Strawberry is a true huntress, obsessively tracking the movements of resident chipmunks and birds from her favorite window perch. When she is not busy watching wildlife, she likes to lounge in her cat tree and curl up in the sun. She has a great appetite, loves wet cat food, and is food-motivated.

Strawberry is just an all-around great cat with lots of s***k. She follows her foster family around the house and, for the right person, she'll make a home on your lap. She is affectionate but on her own terms. She is a shameless beggar, so expect her to purr in your face if you have food that she wants! Ultimately, she wants to be around people day and night, so she appreciates lots of love and attention each day.

Strawberry would do best with an experienced cat owner. She does not like young children or other adult cats. She might accept a kitten or calm dog but definitely enjoys life as your only cat.

Strawberry has waited two years for her forever family and is one of our longest cats in foster. She deserves the best and we're sure that she will find it!

Meet Fauna!

Fauna is a 10-month-old, female, black cat.

Fauna was rescued from a horrible situation, but she absolutely LOVES life indoors. She was a little unsure of people at first, but after just a few days, she warmed up and is the sweetest gal.

She will follow you around the room, meowing. She is very sweet, but also very tough!! She is currently being fostered with her siblings/cousins, and she definitely gives them a run for their money. She LOVES to play and is usually jumping on her friends (she never turns down a playful fight!)

Fauna is great with kids, as she is very gentle and sweet. She is a total purr machine and loves attention. Since Fauna is used to being with other cats and loves to play, she would be happiest having another cat friend.

It’s Our Birthday!! 🎉 Five years ago this little polydactyl kitten started it all. She was found and eventually there were about 50 more cats found and trapped. Some were TNR and many went right into foster and found homes! It’s crazy to think of everything that has happened in the last five years. We will be sharing some of our memories very soon. Last week we were contacted by a caretaker saying she found kittens. The mom has been nowhere to be found. They are just about six weeks old and just learning to eat on their own. At the time of discovery, one kitten was already dead. They’ve been in our care for a week now and are slowly learning to eat on their own. Kittens at this size, without their mothers, are especially fragile. We will continue to care for them and monitor their health and hope that they all improve. We field multiple requests a day for found kittens and owner surrenders. This is the reality of kitten season: malnourished, tiny kittens fighting for their lives. Every single rescuer is drowning right now. We are no exception and we can promise everyone is doing their best. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Ever have one of THOSE days? Well, we’ve had a few. We are back in the quintessential rescue situation… things were going smoothly and then we were smacked with mega vet bills with more on the way. Pictured here is Wilbur who was just about to be ready for his forever home, along with his brother Orville. Out of nowhere, they’ve seemed to be a bit “off” in a way that has caused us much concern. They’ll be off to the vet to find out what is going on. Remember fosters Karlie and Cornelia? They’ve been adopted and Cornelia is THRIVING! Karlie unfortunately has not, seemingly declining as she’s gotten bigger. Her adopter has had her at the vet and we’ve offered to step in… we are hoping it isn’t FIP… but we’ve invested $500 up to this point with more visits in sight. Please put good vibes out there for her! On top of that, Strawberry is having tummy issues. We are hoping this is minor, but more to come on that. Sigh, never ends, right? 🌟 Happy New Year from CTC!!! 🌟 We are hitting the ground running like a feral cat being released from a trap. We can't wait for you to see what we have going on in 2024!

🐈 CTC 2023 YEAR IN REVIEW 🐈 Whew! 2023 started slow but finished STRONG! We're wrapping up 2023 like this: 🐈‍⬛ 112 Adoptions 🐈‍⬛ 35 TNRs 🐈‍⬛ 15 New Foster Homes 2023 brought us so many new things, here are some of the highlights: We participated in new events like the @northhillshomeshow, @heavymetalparkinglotmarket, and the @workshoppgh Makers Market. We had our first art-driven fundraiser featuring custom cattoos in July. This also created a new position for CTC: Development Coordinator who is now Anna! Thanks again to @snaggletoothtattoo for allowing us to use your space for our event. We were fortunate to sponsor an HCMT clinic with our friends at @trashcatrescue We had some very cool coverage and features in places like @citycastpgh, @cbspittsburgh, @northhillsmonthly, @pghcitypaper, and even a mention in Newsweek! We had our first custom jewelry collaboration with Electric cat shop ⚡ We became brand ambassadors with @americatcompany We also had awesome fundraisers thanks to @chroniclesofcheryl and @mystiquemoonantiques. The biggest thing to happen in 2023 was becoming the rescue partner of @catspgh! Our partnership has helped find so many cat's wonderful and loving homes. While we don't like to dwell on the not-so-great stuff, we'd be remiss to not mention them... We unfortunately lost fosters like Brick, S'mores, Jane, and Walt. We also saw the highest number of abandoned animals and owner surrenders ever. We sincerely that the trend ends in 2024. We are also personally unhappy with our TNR numbers, unfortunately, TNR took a back seat due to logistical issues.... and well, many changes in our personal lives that had us unable to accommodate trapping. We are planning to refocus our efforts in the new year. We have so much in store for 2024 and we will have many new things kicking off in January. We'll be launching new fundraisers, new events, and of course so much kitty goodness at @catspgh! We can't wait for
