As you celebrate this spooky season, don’t forget to keep your pets safe! Here are some candies to avoid sharing with your furry companions:

🍬 Chocolate: Can be very dangerous, particularly dark varieties.
🍭 Xylitol: Found in many sugar-free treats, it’s toxic to dogs.
🍇 Raisins & Grapes: Just a few can lead to serious kidney issues.

Keep those goodies out of reach, and enjoy a spooktacular Halloween! 🕷️👻

📢 **PSA: A Reminder About Kindness and Respect**

Whether it’s a mistake, miscommunication, or misunderstanding, we encourage you to take a moment, breathe, and respond with kindness. Our staff is here to help, and no one deserves to be yelled at while doing their best to care for your beloved pets.

Watch Out for Birch Sugar in Foods❗

If you see the ingredient “birch sugar” on a food label, keep it out of your pet’s reach. ❌ This ingredient is the same thing as xylitol, a sugar alcohol sweetener that’s toxic to pets. If consumed, xylitol can lead to a sudden release of insulin, followed by a sharp drop in blood sugar (hypoglycemia), triggering vomiting, loss of consciousness and seizures in dogs (cats appear less sensitive). 🆘🐕

Xylitol may also be referred to as “birch sap” or “wood sugar,” so keep an eye out for these ingredients on labels as well.

Have we mentioned that we have a therapy laser at Fremont Animal Hospital now!? Alastor Mad-Eye Moody wanted everyone to know it has already helped him to feel better!

Therapy laser works by using a low level of light energy to reach target tissue, resulting in decreased inflammation, decreased pain, and accelerated healing.

It can be useful in numerous conditions — pain, arthritis, wound care, injury, slipped discs in the spine, ear or skin infections/inflammation, asthma, coughing, in conjunction with acupuncture (with our own Dr. Popov) and post surgical care — just to name a few!

Ask your vet about this next time you are in - and it could be a great option for your furry kiddo!
