Well what started as a warm dry social run turned into a wet, rainy, muddy run 🤮so bored of wet weather!! However, the strength training up the big hill was fun and brought a whole different dimension to the session: high knee skips, lunges, sprints & side steps all with the dogs working on their ‘close’ work and revisiting the ‘behind’ command on each return down the hill. Great for those strong pulley dogs who just want to run; make their brains work 👏👏👏🐕🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A condensed couch to 5k session 1 of 2 for this little team today. Bramble is a mature, good runner and well trained gundog who doesn’t need to build her mental stamina for 1) being around other dogs focusing on a job and 2) building up her running and command stamina. So this condensed approach is perfect for her and Karen. This is a totally different way of learning compared to gundog training so they have gone away now to practise the commands learnt today. Next week we will work on revisiting these commands to see if they are in place before learning the last few commands. They worked hard today and Bramble was yawning during the session showing she was taking it all in 🐕🏃‍♀️👏👏. Mr Darcey was a great teacher too 🐶🥰

Well that was really hard work in all the mud, there was a lot of stopping & starting tbf! I didn’t think we’d ran that far though. Well done for still coming you two. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🐕🐕🐕. I left my dogs asleep on the sofa 🤣🙈.

Todays taster session was Lisa & Barney. Barney is an adolescent Labrador, full of beans and loves life. He was soooo giddy & excited at first he just didn’t know what to do with himself. So we started getting him used to the 2 basic commands learned in the taster session. He soon picked these up and settled himself into working as a team with Lisa. Lisa’s commands were timely given and repeated a lot to reinforce the correct position for pulling out front. Great job Lisa 👍👍he’s a power house 🐕🏃‍♀️who will benefit massively from being around other dogs who are focused on doing their job. Pudding was fantastic at giving him the cold shoulder today 🐶. The couch to 5k will help build his mental stamina up gradually helping him focus for longer each session.

Well this lot deserve a medal! Turning up in minus temperatures to run the rock hard trails in the dark. It was ACE! 5.5 miles for the quicker runners & nearly 5 miles for the rest. Great job guys. My bum is still the colour of a strawberry 🍓and I still can’t feel it it’s so cold. Hoping the fire will help where the shower didn’t 😮😮.

And……. taster session 2 of the day was Becky & Bear. Now these two are runners but with a hand held lead so the kit was revolutionary for Becky. She couldn’t believe how transforming it was to run without a hand held lead and your dog pulling out front. Bear was very excitable and loved it focussing on a job. Great running and exploring a new route for these two. See you on the couch to 5k (if I don’t see you round the village first 🥰).

Well I have no words! When Amy’s mum comes for a taster session and absolutely SMASHES IT OUT THE PARK!!!! Amy came along too and seriously Lynn put us to shame 🙈🙈. She came with some intrepidation about whether Dash might pull too much and that she had never ran before. Well, neither were a problem at all: both Dash & Lynn picked up the taster commands very quickly and we did way more running than I was expecting, with Lynn infront 🤣🙈👍🏃‍♀️🐕. Cannot wait to get you going on the couch to 5k. Age is literally just a number and Dash is totally adorable. Absolutely incredible 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Today was the couch to 5k completion run. Some of the Welton crew came along for moral support and to say hi before they join the social runs. It’s been a challenging course for these 3 due to horrendous rain, floods and very, very muddy trails but they overcame the obstacles and made it to the end in one piece. Can’t wait for you to not join the socials and get added to the crazy whats app group: .leitch .beev & Helen. Presentation, coffee & cake too.

A very glowy, cold 3.5mile run tonight. Even the track we thought would not be too muddy turned out to be so muddy we ended up running back on the road. Still it was an adventure!!

An early morning taster session for & Digby. Beautiful sunrise to accompany us though. Kerry & Digby are already runners so it was nice to introduce them to the canicross kit. A good job you two considering the awful conditions. Kit ordered and signed up for the next couch to 5k. Looking forward to it. 🐕🏃‍♀️.

Day out to Chatsworth today. My canicross gear is a lifesaver. Anyone that knows Pudding will know she’s awful on a lead; at least with this on it’s not stressfull at all 👍🐶. I even got to pose with Mr Darcy (my Mr D’s namesake). Missed the rain too…bonus!!

Well thankgod we did a nice walk this morning. What an awful change in the weather now! 😮 beautiful blue skies, dryer mud, lovely views…much nicer!

What a fantastic family day today has been. Annual Boxing Day buffet tradition (Mum would be proud 🥰). Packed house, copious amounts of food & drink, games were played, laughs were in abundance and the dogs were sooooo good they literally slept through it except for cuddles. 🐶🐶🐶💕😘
