So got the ground works finally sorted with slabs. Thanks to Ross Fenton for the help in moving the slabs over and helping me put them down. He made a suggestion: “shall we try seeing what the sides look like up?” And there you have it, almost fully compete! What an afternoon!

Some day at the allotment today. Still managed to achieve a considerable amount. Garlic, white and Red onions all planted today. Wendy House moved, old shed started to be dismantled. Ground cleared and sand put down to start laying slabs, 2 slabs laid. All rubbish removed to the skip provided, so all in all a good day on site!

So today was all about dismantling a Wendy House from a garden and to transfer it to the allotment ready for install at some point in the near/distant future! Ross did an amazing job and was a fab help!
The allotment is coming on too!
Today Mark Started to build a compost bin from old pallets with the help of Tony. We are moving forward at a steady pace.

So today we decided to get another bed in. Nothing planted yet but soon will be.
We got it down in no time and covered a section next to it to try and kill off the weeds. That will be down now for a few months, unless we change our mind, it’s possible.

We also moved all the chopped tree that is on site from previously being felled by the allotment committee. It’s been moved so that we can burn it on bonfire. Really looking forward to that!! We’ve covered it so that it will hopefully dry out so that we can successfully burn it.

Thanks today to Tony, Alicia, and Jay. Excellent work done. Way more than I expected!

Making good progress. It’s great to see that we now have our first patch and that we have planted our first produce, Charlotte potatoes, hopefully we will have some in time for Christmas.
Great support today, with Mark, Jay, Alicia, Ross, Šárka, Lilly and Stanley all coming and doing their bit with us.

Thanks for your help guys!

It’s great that the family can come and get involved too, as let’s face it, this is for the children!
We want them to learn all about growing food and sustaining life at the same time. It’s important to give back to the ground that we are taking from.

We had a great day, the weather was both for us and against us today. Perfect for clearing the ground as it’s nice and cool. However, that rain cloud looks like it’s going to get us!

Mark Lyttle and Tony Fletcher were with us today.

So we came to obtain an allotment. Of course there is a waiting list. However, if we were prepared to take on a plot that hasn’t been worked in over 25 years and was previously a forest of trees and woodland, then we could take this one immediately.
Where do we sign!

We knew it was going to be a mammoth of a task and that we needed community spirit, especially as our aim is No Dig.

First task, I think, will be to trim it all down to ground level!
