A groom I did this morning that I am super proud of

Every dog that comes here, I am totally committed to them leaving looking the best version of themselves its all part of being a "specialist groomer" rather than a regular groomer.

Rosie is a regular client. Being a Black and Tan with a profuse coat, makes grooming challenging - its difficult tracking the knotting - seeing where the knots begin and sorting through the coat to find them.

I wanted to get a photo outside to show off the profuse shine on her coat however I spent so much time on her groom I had to settle for taking an inside photo which never does justice to the shine.

Rosie is a beautiful girl with the sweetest temperament, well loved with the best care

Firstly I want to say thank you to all my clients - Thank you for trusting me to care for your Cavalier - I remain deeply grateful!

Thank you for your continued support that allows me to continue to do what I do

Please be patient at this busy time, as I navigate grooming my clients, looking after my own dogs and doing my best to contact and connect with messages, emails and text messages - Im not ignoring you, always remember your business is vital to me and your dog is a priority, being busy can slow down the process

Please help me to help you!!

There are now only 9 weeks until I break for a week over the Christmas period - grooming appointments are filling up fast!

I am aware of clients that haven't been for grooming for a while, I do understand that not everyone sees my posts on Facebook

Please continue to "like" my posts, I understand that this is the best way for followers of the page to continue to see the content.

Going forward into next year, I am looking at ways of improving my service to your dog family - I know that people are extremely busy and often grooming needs of your dog family can be overwhelming and difficult to maintain on a regular basis -
would a reminder text/message be of assistance to you?

What service could I provide for your dog that I dont currently do?

Is there a product for your dog that you would like me to provide- that you can purchase with me at the time of grooming?

Are clients interested in purchasing treats for your dog from me - I know my dog clients enjoy them!

Please comment below or private message me and give me some feedback so that I can improve what I do for you and most importantly your four legged Cavalier family

Cooper came for his "Puppy Groom" today

I strongly promote bringing your Cavalier puppy as soon as you can for grooming - it gets them familiar with the process and comfortable with all the sounds whilst they are still young and accepting of changing conditions

Cooper did great - I bred him and expect that true fearless Cavalier temperament as my puppies are conditioned to this process from 4 weeks of age

I have been encouraging regular clients to make their next grooming appointment when they collect their dog

In our busy lives, time flies and time between grooming appointments gets too long - the dogs coats become knotted - the longer the knots stay in, the tighter they get as your dog moves around, the knots start to pull on the skin, causing discomfort and pain to the dog.

It costs less for you to bring your dog for regular grooms, as there is less work! When they become knotted/matted, it takes a lot of work which takes extra time to groom and this puts the cost up notably.

Regular grooms, keeps the skin clear and able to breathe - a healthy skin will always produce a healthy, shiny coat.

Regular grooms will also release loose and dead coat with the pressure of the hydro bath hose and the professional dryer that I use - the coat will always look healthier, shinier and glossy when the fresh, new coat is allowed to be seen - less loose coat lying around the house.

Most importantly, I want 'grooming time' to be as pleasant as possible for your Cavalier and would rather they be enjoying their warm bath, massaging conditioner and one on one attention, than having to stand/sit while I remove knots and matts that take time and care.

We are not at a time of the year, where the next groom is getting close to Christmas and I would advise, to avoid disappointment, that everyone "pre-book" the next two appointments if you want your Cavalier groomed before Christmas

Thank you everyone - I am so grateful for each and everyone of you - you allow me to do what I love, your trust in me to care for your Cavalier is always respected and honoured

I am a "specialist groomer" of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels

What does this mean?

Firstly I have had over 20 years experience in caring and grooming my own dogs as a registered breeder so blessed to share my life with these gorgeous dogs

I know the breed as I know myself. I live and work in a holistic way, this means that all shampoo and conditioning and moisturising products used in grooming are 'toxic free' whilst containing the best ingredients to clean and nurture your Cavaliers coat.

When trimming or thinning is requested, I know exactly how to do this without compromising the beautiful 'cavalier look' that we all love and treasure. Living with my own Cavaliers has made me aware of challenging areas in the coat that knot easily and I am able to groom the coat to make grooming easier for you to maintain in between professional grooms

Cavalier ears require great care! Their fullness and their length makes the ears vulnerable to ear infection - I understand the importance of keeping the ear opening free of hair and using cotton balls whilst bathing so that water does not enter the ear at any time. Its very important when cleaning the hair on the edge of the ears to ensure that you part all the hair and get the shampoo in between all the hair as this often gets food and other dirt caked in, conditioning the hair at the end of the ears, helps to keep the ears looking healthy and lustrous.

A gentle, soothing soap bar is used for easy application to the hair below the eyes where staining can occur due to the size and shape of the Cavaliers eyes which easily attract dust making the eyes water and leaving wet tracks down the face. Making sure this area is clean, makes it less likely for bacteria to develop and the area to become offensive and smelly.

I use a specific soap bar for the legs and feet that contains neem oil. Many Cavaliers develop staining on their feet due to nibbling at their feet. In many cases this is caused with the excess hair that grows in and around the pads with seeds and pollen collecting around the pads and trapping moisture too. Its important to keep the area clean and hair free and using a specific soap bar allows me to clean up and in between the pads effectively, leaving a unique neem smell that acts as a deterrent to fleas and other bugs who dislike the smell.

The coat is always conditioned. As a qualified Canine Myotherapist, I know how to massage the conditioner into the coat for maximum effect and use a towel wrap for five minutes allowing the conditioner to pe*****te the coat for maximum condition and shine.

I understand the importance of using quality bristle brushes on the Cavalier Coat so that the hair isn't split or damaged whilst being brushed and where a comb needs to be used

I am so familiar with the breed and so full of love for their character and look, they all feel like family to me! Each Cavalier that comes here, is treated with the utmost respect and care as I do with my own dogs

I am going to try and post regularly on this grooming page in an effort to provide a better service

I am asking you all if there is a specific topic that you would like advice/guidance on and is there something about my service that you would like to know more about?

I had a client who believed I used a outside hose to wash the dogs and whilst this might make you smile, I realise that it could be a normal assumption, considering not everyone has seen or knows about hydro baths

I will also explain why I call myself a 'specialist groomer' and how I view my work as both creative and artistic as I set about creating a true 'Cavalier look' and taking the time and care artistically to ensure that every Cavalier/Cavoodle leaves here looking true to their breed whilst being easier for the owner to maintain.

Gaynor Grooms will be introducing a flea rinse service, staying true to my holistic non toxic approach using a natural non toxic product! I will be offering for sale a non toxic "flea spray, shampoo and soap bar" kit for you to take home with you as a preventative measure to deter fleas, whilst keeping your dog smelling fresh!

To start the conversation, I will post a photo of my hydro bath which is relatively new, twin tub so warm water is always used and the water comes through under pressure with the hose to reach through the coat and access the skin for deep cleaning and removal of dead skin cells and dander.
