To all my family and friends, I would like to introduce you to our new friends, the Massey Family of Mars Hill, NC. Tim, Taylor, Bentley, Brayden, and Briley lost everything they owned in Hurricane Helene's unexpected raging flood waters in Western North Carolina on September 27, 2024. This included their home, two vehicles, a dirt bike, and everything inside their home and outside in their shed. We have adopted the Massey Family and will do what we can to help them get back on their feet. Unfortunately, the Massey’s insurance and FEMA denied any claims, apart from Tim’s Truck. They do plan to rebuild in Marshall, NC and have a double-wide home being built with a hopeful completion date in February 2025.

Having spent my adult life as an insurance adjuster, I have had a hard time wrapping my head around the damage and devastation in WNC. Most of Western North Carolina was not in a flood plain, given the mountainous terrain. Homeowners insurance does not cover flood, so for most of the estimated 60 billion dollars in damages sustained in WNC, there is no coverage for the damages. For most of WNC, it has been left up to WE THE PEOPLE to help our neighbors, and most of us are doing all that we can to help. We are at a point where we need to reach out further for help.

Tim and Taylor are thankful that their lives were saved as Taylor and the kids evacuated the home in waist-high waters while Tim was at work. She had no idea of the raging flood waters outside her door until her brother-in-law was pounding at the door. They were able to save their dogs as well. They are so appreciative of the money they have received previously in the GoFundMe account that helped with essentials and the perk test on their property for their new home.

Introducing Cabo and Hank! Their owners are in town for wedding, and urgently needed care for them while they attend all the events tonight and tomorrow. We had figure out some hurdles, as hotel staying at was 45 minutes away.
We made it work, and I was able to transport them back and forth each day.
They were so grateful, but that's what we do here at Just Like Home Pet Services! We make it work 💪 Now they can go have fun, and their owners can focus on the festivities stress free 😊
