Exciting News for Human Patients!
After careful consideration, I've decided to extend my practice to also include Tui-na treatments for humans. Many of you have asked if I would ever treat humans, and I'm pleased to share this new offering.
Tui-na, which literally means 'Push and Grab,' is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves various hand techniques to restore balance, enhance circulation, and alleviate pain for patients.
My knowledge and expertise in treating humans have been honed through the teachings of the Daxuan school. This ancient clanic Daoist school, with a precise lineage dating back to the year 510 in Kunlun, has greatly influenced my approach. The current Heir of the tradition is Master Serge Augier.
Tui-na treatments for humans will be available at my clinic in Huldenberg starting from October 23rd. However, please note that my main focus remains on veterinary medicine. To accommodate both, I've set aside six time slots per week for human treatments.
If you have any questions or would like to make a reservation, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Looking forward to this new chapter and being able to not only help animals, but also humans.

Treating emergencies with acupuncture!

A 14 year old Husky came into the hands of his owner in my clinic last Thursday night. He could not stand on his own legs anymore. We draw blood but his bloodwork was perfectly normal.

I've treated him with acupuncture and electro-acupuncture. The results speak for themselves. The very next day the dog was standing on his own again. I'll treat him 2 more times in the next few days, add some Herbal medicine, increase the quality of life so that he can enjoy the rest of his old days.

It's interesting to see how acupuncture can be used for very chronic cases but at the same time it's a worthy emergency tool.

Spread the word!

Treating dermatitis in a horse with 1 treatment (only needles). Besides the gazillion supplements, medications and different blankets owners try on their horse to help them cure dermatitis - a clear diagnosis and using only a few needles can cure a patient in a matter of days. I've had very successful and impressive results already in the past, but my latest training at the Whitten Univeristy with Dean Jordan Whitten has accelerated the results

Headshaking is a behaviour displayed by horses, where the horse continuously shakes its head vertically and/or horizontally. Many physical conditions can cause head-shaking including ear mite infestation, otitis interna, cranial nerve dysfunction, cervical injury, ocular disease, protozoal myeloencephalitis, and sinusitis as well as a behavioral or rider issue... However, 🤨 where shaking was such that referral veterinary advice was required, there was a 98% chance that no physical cause could be determined, leading to a diagnosis of idiopathic headshaking 🙃As knowledge of this condition has developed, it is likely that most of these horses were suffering what is now termed trigeminal-mediated headshaking 🧐Trigeminal-mediated headshaking is a little-understood neuropathic facial pain condition of the horse. As a pain condition, this represents a significant welfare issue.
Horses are usually more severely affected at exercise which can leave them unable to perform, or even dangerous to ride and handle. With little known about the condition and variable response to treatments, severely affected horses are often euthanized 😢
On the other side of the coin🉐...
Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine can differentiate up to 4 different Diagnosis Patterns related to "headshakers" and the success it will depend on the correct Diagnosis and therefore its proper treatment application.
So again, not all head shakings (manifestation) looks the same to the eyes of TCVM, nor have the same root ( origin). We need to correct the origin to be able to correct the manifestation. For this, an exhaustive and individual TCVM Diagnosis must be performed by a Veterinarian Certified in TCVM. We should confidently expect improvements within the first 2- 5 treatments depending on the case and Chinese medicine is highly recommended to speed up the process specially in Deficiency conditions.
Now that the days are longer and brighter, does your horse suffers from head shaking with not or little improvement ?
Then you are welcome to contact us, we are very happy to help !

Bleeding Jing Well Points in laminitis. In Chinese medicine often referred to as Qi/Blood stagnation in the hoof. We therefore bleed certain acupuncture points to relieve instant pressure and pain. Point used here is TH-1 (Guanchong). This point is located on the lateral aspect of the ring finger at the level of the beginning of the nail bed in humans.

Why is electro acupuncture so powerful?

Electro acupuncture is a modified technique of acupuncture which uses an electro-stimulation on acupuncture points. It gives a stronger stimulation than regular acupuncture, resulting in a bigger therapeutical effect. Therefore it is a very important tool in pain management for animals.

Flappie is an 11yr old Golden with clinical signs of Kidney Qi Deficiency. Kidney Qi naturally declines with age, some individuals may experience a faster and greater drop in Qi than others. The Kidney dominates the lower back and pelvic limbs, therefore signs of Kidney Qi Deficiency include generalized weakness, lethargy and fatigue.

After 3 sessions the owner reported that Flappie is much more energetic, more playful and gets up more easily.

Happy Flappie = Happy Owner = Happy Vet 😍

BALANCE METHOD - AVAILABLE IN 2023 FOR CVA VETS IN BELGIUM🇧🇪

I have the absolute honour to introduce Balance Method in Belgium starting from 2023.

The course will be taught by the one and only Dr. Antonio A Alfaro, who’s been a very close student of Dr. Tan - one of the most incredible teachers of human acupuncture ever. Dr. Antonio extrapolated all dr. Tan teaching to the animals and therefor made it available for us, to learn this “magical” way of chosing acupuncture points.

From what I’ve seen, Balance Method can bring absolute amazing and more importantly, INSTANT results - sometimes within seconds after inserting a needle.

We are honoured to have Dr. Antonio come here to teach us everything he learned from Dr. Tan.
From Balancing meridians, Yi-Jing, Meridian Conversion, Seasonal Balance and many more.

Dr. Antonio is an absolute master of his craft but more importantly a very kind person with the Heart (Fire) on the right place.

“Scanning a horse is one of the Traditional Diagnostic Tools which a practioner integrates to make a diagnosis”

The practitioner palpates and scans different Meridians and Diagnostic Points to locate different painful areas/ internal organs.

Before practicing TCVM I would’ve listened to the horse’s heart, take the temperature, asked if he was correctly vaccinated and dewormed. Because that’s what a “healthy” animal is supposed to be. No fever, no heart murmur and a correct vaccination/ deworming protocol.

Fortunately there is much more in treating animals. The Tradition is so rich in his dept and details that a practitioner can see, feel and hear if he is correctly trained for it.

When looking more closely, we can see the horse’s entire hind end and back is painful (and weak). The most import thing here is to treat the Kidney because the Kidney controls the bones and hind end in TCVM Zang-Fu Physiology. Of course we need to needle some local points to immediately alleviate pain but we must rebalance the Kidney Energy. When going even further in the clinical history of this horse we learned that his mother had artrosis very early on, so this information is stored in his Kidney Jing (Essence, it can be translated as DNA to make it more understandable).

This horse is very young and chances are very little to see artrosis on a RX.
Since we know all this, and our patient is showing these clinical signs we can help him today but more importantly we can help him in the future, not develop artrosis at all or very little.

In ancient Traditions, you must pay the doctor to be healthy. But the doctors pay you when you get sick. Because it’s their responsibility. Today we live in quite the opposite world.

“Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and TCVM Food Therapy seminar for horse owners”

Discussing basic concepts in TCVM such as:
Yin/Yang
5 elements
3 tresors
Misconceptions about Qi and why stagnant Qi causes pain in the body.
We also went through basic TCVM Food Therapy. Owners now understand why celery is good for liver heat and why every owner should give pears to his horse whenever he is coughing and showing heat signs.
Two people even came to visit me to ask me If TCVM could be a valuable option for their horse with Head Shaking. They left the seminar with more hope.
We finished the afternoon with a treatment of one of the participant’s mare.
An afternoon with good people who are opting different options to treat their horses.
More to come soon.

"After several months of trying multiple antibiotic treatments, Itraconazole, Corticosteroids, Apoquel, skin salves and different types of hypoallergenic dog kibble (Royal Canin, Hills etc...) which helped close to nothing...this is the result after 10 days of TCVM, what a progress! So happy! Thank You Jérôme!
- Owner

Owners contacted me after seeing the post about how fast TCVM works (see previous posts). This dog has been suffering for almost three years straight from this horrible skin disease and nothings seems to work. They tried everything known to mankind but never tried TCVM.

Fast forward after an initial skype conversation I've treated this dog twice with acupuncture and completely changed his diet. The owners are now cooking specific HOME MADE recipes based upon this dog's pattern (you can't get any more individual with TCVM compared with Western medicine which basically treats diagnostic tests, not individual animals).

We're only 10 days into this dog's healing process and I'm curious how fast her (it's a bitch) progress will continue to improve. Next step is to use Traditional Chinese Herbal Formulas (Herbal Medicine) based upon the pattern to help internal organs involved in this disease restore balance and proper function (Zang-Fu Physiology).

TCVM is almost limitless people, especially when owners are doing everything for their dog and following my advice meticulously.

Coming home friday night 8.30 PM and reading this in your email box makes it all worthwhile.

"Hello Doctor,

I wanted to thank you very much for the good care you have given to Querida. Physically, she is transformed. I have a picture attached. Her sarcoid is no longer red and it has deflated well.
My daughter rode her and everything went well. She is very gentle. Everything is going very well. She tasted the new vegetables. She's getting used to it except for the asparagus. Thank you again a thousand times, it was not very easy with her but we have a very nice result.
Have a good weekend."

This is a rescued horse who's been neglected and beaten by her previous owners. Luckily she was saved by the current lovely owners and given a second life.

First I couldn't approach this horse so I had to walk with her for 30 minutes so she would get to know me better. It took me finally 1 hour and 30 minutes to insert 4 needles (and 4 needles was enough!). I even had to do it while walking, because standing still and me inserting the needles was impossible. She would immediately kick and bite (It were men who had beaten her, in her previous life).

The horse was treated for sarcoïd and cough.

I've cut the picture in such a way to protect the owners identity.

How to acupuncture dogs who’re afraid from veterinarians?

Many (little) dogs are faisty little biters when it comes to veterinary interventions (oriental and/or occidental medicine).

In this case I’ve used Lucien the awesome Basset to acupuncture Raymond the small dog. I’ve placed little Raymond against sleepy Lucien to needle him so he wouldn’t stress too much.
As you can see little Raymond fell asleep next to Lucien the Basset and I still got all my fingers!
