I finally have a Texas indigo, Drymarchon melanurus errebenus. I have named her Asherah, after the largely forgotten wife of YeHoWaH from ancient Semitic mythology.
A signature feature of the Drymarchon genus are the three lines of gothic tears in running mascara. This is visible even on the eastern indigo, Drymarchon couperi. The species name is pronounced "Cooper-eye", as in Alice Cooper-eye. Which (I think) is appropriate, and a fun way to remember that.

El Volador is a 4 month-old, 31" long tiger rat snake, a rare high-yellow morph.
Abbath is a 4 year-old, 73" long false water cobra stretching out in his 8 foot enclosure.
Татя is a 13 month-old, 54" long false water cobra.
My new baby, El Volador, is a Central American tiger rat snake, (Spilotes pullatus). They're sometimes called flying snakes because they're fast and semi-arboreal, racing through the jungle canopy. They can get 8 or 9 feet long.

All my other babies are growing up and getting bigger, except for Zorya, my Russian rat snake. She's a year old now and still only as thick as my pinkie finger.
Introducing Barb and Sting.
Barb and Sting are Arctic het lavender western hognose snakes. Our fire pied-side corn snake couple are named Habanero and Cayenne.
I have had my baby Texas rat snake for only one week. It should only be about 8 or 9 weeks old; say 3 months today. Once we determine the s*x, we will call it either Travis or Tammy. I wanted a common typical Texas name. ;-)
He or she will be between 6 and 8 feet long as an adult, but they are only 17 inches long now.

I'm going to keep a log of Jörmungander's growth here. At 2 months old, and still a hatchling, he is 34" long. He'll eat twice a week (every Wednesday and Sunday) until he is four feet long. From then on, for the rest of his first year, he'll eat every Wednesday, whatever size rat or rabbit or whatever matches his girth. As a reticulated python, he is expected to exceed 8 feet by the time he is a year old; so a growth rate of 6" per month for his first year!
Durango (my bullsnake) was already a year old and 26" long when we got him in August of 2022. He is 46" now. Which means he has grown 2" per month (or a half inch a week) since we've had him.
Татя, (my 9 month old false water cobra) is expected to reach as much as 8 feet eventually too, and she should grow almost as fast as the retic. She is about 40" long now.

Ophion is a Dimeril's boa, one of only a few Old World boas; this spevies is from Madagascar. Last weekend, I held one of these that was 6 feet long and pretty thick. It'll take a few years for this tiny baby to get that big. But he'll be a pretty boy.
I have a young female Russian rat snake in need of an unrelated male. She is a rare high yellow morph like the prize specimen in the photo below. Normally, the yellow parts are quite dull, bordering on brown. But look at this blue-black high-yellow specimen! This is what I want.
I got mine from Sarpamitra. They appear to be the only breeder in America with the high-yellow morph, and all of theirs are related. I wonder if there are any European or Asian breeders that might have what I'm looking for?
My bullsnake, Durango was a year-old and 26 inches long when we got him. Since then, he has grown about 2" per month! He'll be well over 4 feet when he turns two in August. Sexual maturity is still another year after that. He should be at least 6 feet long when he's "grown up".
This is our 2nd baby Dumeril's boa, an eventual mate for Eurynome (pronounced "your enemy"). So his name should of course be Ophion.
We already have a male salmon snow corn snake named Kokytus. We think we'll name one Styx.
These two haven't met yet, even though they live in the same building. But in a couple years, they will make beautiful babies.

Tatiana is a Brazilian false water cobra, named after the singer from Jinjer. She is my favorite of all our baby snakes. She is lovely. This species is famously spirited and smart and typically have a very good temperment.
Durango is a bullsnake. They're rattlesnake mimics, which doesn't work well against humans, who often kill whatever we're afraid of. But his nature is to act that part, to hiss and bluff and seem mean. He'll even strike "at" me, though he never bites. If only he knew that I think he's beautiful, and how I love him, despite his gruff demeanor, always looking like such a grouch.

Hitchin a ride.
This is a black milk snake, though it doesn't look like it. It looks like an eastern milk snake, but only as a baby. She should grow to be 6 or 7 feet long, and all her pretty white and scarlet coloring will fade into an irridescent blue-black. Lilandra wants to name her Nyx, after the Greek goddess of darkness.
