We officially separated birds by colors! The colors we have separated so far are
Tier 1 - Black Tuxedo
Tier 2 - jumbo white/perl/ multi colored white
Tier 3 - Tuxedo
Tier 4 - Manchurian (gold)
The black have been with each other for 2 weeks so they are ready for pure hatching black tuxedo eggs. The others will take 2 weeks to properly get the males to "group" with the females and get the old males "grouping" out of females system. We will have jumbos grouped together that should start laying middle of May!

EXCITING NEWS!!!! We got our hands on some black tuxedo layers! These birds are extremely rare in the USA. We have been personally looking for around 1 year for these exact colors from a good breeder. Soon we will be releasing our own modified line of this beautiful color. Hopefully we can have some example chicks at medford swap show coming up April 27th! Keep posted!

Alll our beautiful diversity of colors! Truly mesmerizing. We still haven’t decided if we are wanting to separate different color genetics to their own group within to breed strong lines of specific colors. Or to just focus on the size of the bird. Lots of decisions for next year!

Quail liver pâté. 😋

½ pound quail livers (about 25 or so)
6 Tablespoons butter, divided
½ tablespoon thyme leaves
⅛ teaspoon salt
1 clove Garlic, minced
2 shallots, thinly sliced
⅓ cup Vermouth
2 tablespoons cognac or brandy (I didn't have either one, so I used Krakken spiced rum. It worked great.)

Sweat the sliced shallots in 4 tablespoons butter over medium heat until transparent. Add garlic, salt, and livers. Sauté 4-5 minutes. Add thyme leaves, and Vermouth sauté 1 minute more. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer until livers are done, but still rosy in the center. Put livers and shallots into a food processor and add cognac and 2 tablespoons butter. Continue to reduce Vermouth sauce until thickened, then add to the food processor with the other ingredients. Process until smooth. Put pâté into small ramekins and cover tightly with plastic wrap so that the wrap is in contact with the entire surface, and none of the pâte is exposed to air. Refrigerate until set, approximately 4 hours, or overnight.
