We have been super busy and haven't had a chance to post in quite a while. With that said, we have a few updates.

Although we've offered many rabbit breeds in the past, we have decided to focus on our flemish giant herd. Since they're a big breed, they require much more food and space than our other buns.

In order to better focus on our rabbitry, we have also made the tough decision to no longer breed ducks. We will still occasionally hatch chicken eggs and have chicks available.

Updated pics of everyone to come!

*The hens are no longer available. The roos are all still unclaimed though.

Posting for a friend..

I have three Plymouth Rock roosters, one Rhode Island Red rooster, five Plymouth Rock hens, three black hens (unsure of breed...possibly Marans), three White Leghorn hens, two silver laced wyandottes, and one white hen (unsure of breed) available. All but three Plymouth Rock hens and one Dominique roo, we're born around July 2022 and are laying. The five Dominique hens/roo are younger, but are fully feathered and should be laying soon. All are very friendly and have been raised as pets. Located in Nettie, WV (out towards Levisay).

Please PM us if interested!

*No longer available

We have made the tough decision to stop breeding welsh harlequin ducks. We absolutely love them, but would like to have more time to dedicate to our buns. With that said, we have this last pair of adult welsh harliquins available. We will not seperate them and are only able to meet around Webster county. If interested, please send us a PM.

(We also have a male pekin available, male muscovies, and will have some standard rex and holland lop/flemish giant mix rabbits available soon).

We got quite the surprise yesterday morning. While feeding our buns we discovered that Brianna, our Flemish Giant, had given birth. The crazy thing? We hadn't bred her and had no clue that she was pregnant. Actually, a few days ago she was flirting with the buck next to her cage...and kept trying to get in his cage. With that said, her already being pregnant wasn't even in our minds.

Now we have 7 of the cutest little oopsies ever! Their dad is our blue-eyed-white holland lop,... so it's hard to tell what these little piggies will look like when they're full grown. 🤦‍♀️😅 All appear to be sandy/chestnut with 6 of them having VM markings.

We had planned on finding Brianna a flemish giant boyfriend, but apparently we were taking too long. 😂

It has been a while since we have posted. Our Rex litter is growing fast. In our opinion, they're all keepers. This litter stands out because they've always been so social. They just wanna be around people, or other animals. They love being with our ducks, dogs, and chickens. We actually had a baby to escape it's pen. We found it before realizing that it was missing, because it ran to greet us as we walked through our yard. They are all so puppy-like. Even though it's gonna be hard to let them go, these guys will be available for their new homes in about 2 weeks. We will post individual pictures and more info about them soon!

These little potatoes and their momma got to enjoy some outside time today. They are now refusing to stay in their nesting box. They'd much rather be annoying their momma or trying to get our attention because they want held. They're still not the greatest on their feet, but that doesn't stop them in the slightest.

Even though you can't tell it in this picture, their eyes have all opened now. They really want to explore, but dragging around those pot bellies is exhausting! 😅

This has been by far the most lazy, laid back litter that we have had. These little snugglebugs are always so content. We're in LOVE with them! 😍 Keeping the whole litter is definitely not feasible...we so wish it was though! 😅

The blue is showing up a bit better today. The tri color baby is on the right. He's got blue spots all over him! He looks awkward because he is milk drunk. He's one of the bigger babies and as far as we can tell, is the first to the dinner table everytime. He always resembles a bloated pig. 🐖 🐇 😄

Our babies are growing like weeds and are starting to get their fur in. So far it looks like there are two broken fawns, two blue/fawn harliquins, and one blue/fawn tri-color. We've learnt that blue and fawn are tricky to capture on camera. In all of the pictures that we take, the babies look mostly fawn, but the blue shows up a lot more in real life. If anyone has any tips on capturing blue/fawn buns on camera, please let us know! This is something that we've struggled with since we started our rabbitry. 🤦‍♀️😅

Though they are less than a week old, we can tell that this litter is going to be one of our favorites. Their personalities are trying to start showing. They're all very calm, but some seem to be a bit lazier than others. A few have already developed their preferred 'petting spots'. When we find the spot, they lean into it and fall asleep.

Some of our momma buns ignore their babies until feeding time (which is normal). Spitfire likes to keep watch of her babies. Their bellies are full everytime we check them. She really seems to be enjoying her new role as a momma.

Wanted to share this link to a new rabbit genetic calculator with our fellow breeders. It's super easy to understand and has more color options than other calculators that we've seen.

Rabbit colors aren't sex-linked. It doesn't matter which is the buck/doe. x Inheritance is the same for all breeds. Select one for fun! Demo Breeds:

Welcome to the world little ones. We can't wait to watch you grow!

Unfortunately one of them passed, but the remaining five are doing great. They're a bouncy, demanding bunch already! We couldn't ask for a better momma than Spitfire. She's been very attentive to them since the second they were born. More than 24 hours later, she is still pulling fur for their nest.

24/09/2022

Spitfire gave birth to 6 little ones late last night. She's being a great momma already! Pictures to come later today!

Spitfire isn't due until next week, but started to show nesting behavior with her blankets...so we added her nesting box in early. She filled it with all of her blankets instantly. Now she is pulling fur. She's spending a ton of time making sure everything is perfect. It's safe to say that we are now on baby watch. We can't wait to meet them! ❤️ 🐇

Of course she has to pull fur around her newly filled water dish. In her momma frenzy, she's knocked a ton of hay and leaves in there too. 🤦‍♀️😄

We can officially confirm that Spitfire is pregnant! We were able to feel and see the little nuggets squirming around. She was moved to the 'nursery cage' yesterday. Her nesting box will be added a couple days before her due date. As of now, she's spending most of her time relaxing on her comfy bed and enjoying lots of extra treats. Hopefully everything goes smooth and next week we will be posting cute pics of wiggly new babies!

It's unrelated but she always sleeps with her front paws tucked under her..like a cat. We think it's the cutest thing! ❤️ 🐇

We're a bit late on introducing her, but Sky joined the herd a couple weeks ago. She's only been here a bit, but has already had a huge impact in our rabbitry.

Moana, our other holland lop doe, has always had an attitude, especially with other rabbits....but has a need for constant social interaction. We have tried to bond her with other does in the past, only for them to all end in fights. Mo had been extra needy lately, so we figured that we would try again and introduced her to Sky. They were BFFs at first sight! They have spent the last couple of weeks cuddling and grooming each other. We're so happy to finally have found a buddy for Moana. Sky has such a sweet, patient personality. She's just what Mo has needed! Thank you Little Sprout Farm for making this happen!

While we are on the subject, we wanna share some things we have learned about housing rabbits. We've heard all sorts of different combinations that were the 'right way'. Some prefer to keep their rabbits in separate cages, others raise them in a colony. There are people who don't believe in cages at all. We have heard 'get two if you don't have time to spend with your singleton'. The truth is, there's not just one way to do it. Every rabbit has their own specific wants and needs. Some of our rabbits, like Mo, are very outgoing and need constant companionship (sometimes it's just all about finding 'the one'). Others like our mixed breed, Bob, are much happier being away from everyone else and prefer to be housed in their own little world. We've had rabbits who got along with all the others and some who had their select favorite few. They all have different preferences. So much so, that we've even had does who were picky and refused to be bred with a buck that they didn't like... (looking at you Merida). Contrary to belief, rabbits don't always breed like rabbits. They're so opinionated that sometimes it makes for difficult pairings. 🙄 Anyway before we get off subject, we just wanted to share the importance of doing research and raising buns according to whatever is best for them and their owners.

(We also added a blue-eyed-white buck named Elmer...but he didn't want to cooperate for pictures today. 🙄😅 Hopefully we will be able to properly introduce him soon!)

We also forgot to give an update on Spitfire's pregnancy. She ended up not having any little ones. We swore she was pregnant, but it must've just been all of the extra treats showing. 😅 (Her partner, Larry, went to a new home and we're told he is getting a ton of love by his new owner.) Before he left, we rebred him to Spitfire. If she took, she will be due at the end of September or beginning of October.

Tried to take some pics of Moana while she was playing in her playpen, but as soon as the camera came out, so did the Moana attitude. Five seconds before this picture was taken, she was happily running and flopping around. She's a tiddly tad dramatic and not a bit shy on sharing her feelings. 🙄

Daffy is one of our favorites (don't tell the others 🤫😅). He has always been very attentive to his fellow ducklings...cleaning and nurturing them constantly. He's a sweet, lazy boy who won over our hearts as soon as he hatched. We swore we had too many males and black muscovies to keep him. Looking back though, we had no idea what we were talking about! We always fall head over heels for the fellas! 🙄🤷‍♀️😅

Moana is a goofy gal. She's an attention hog and demands that we acknowledge her every time we walk by. She's a retired breeder now, but was an amazing momma. She's still not ready to accept that she's 'done'....so she greets each of our boys every morning. She flirts, then runs off to do Moana things....breaking their hearts everyday. 🙄😆

27/08/2022

This is absolutely correct! Rabbits have very sensitive digestive systems and can quickly die from eating the wrong thing! Please do your research about what is safe and not for rabbits before buying one.

Avoid any colorful treats/feed that is sold in stores. It may look 'pretty'...but it wrecks havoc on sensitive rabbit systems. If you want to add some color to your rabbits diet, go for things like fresh greens, dandilions, apples, peppers, bananas, and blueberries. Of course all of those need to be introduced slowly. Too many fruits and vegetables can cause diarrhea.

Also a quick tip...Tractor Supply has a 'rabbit' section, with toys, bowls, feed, hay, etc. However there's another isle (usually located around other livestock feed), that has 50lb bags of rabbit food that are so much cheaper than the ones in the 'rabbit section'. Timothy/alfalfa hay can be purchased in the 'horse feed section' for way less too! (Of course if you can get hay bales from your local farmer, that works even better).
