These pups had us seeing double doodles! 🐶🐶

Dr. Jessica Larson and her veterinary technician, Fran, visited Odie and Oliver recently at Healthy Petz Veterinary Hospital, LLC. We consulted with Odie about a gastrointestinal issue he has been dealing with recently. Then we used our KARL STORZ Endoscopy equipment to retrieve an inflatable ball that Oliver ingested. ⚾️

📚VetMed Fact: While anesthesia is still required, endoscopy allows for a minimally invasive option to retrieve items that shouldn't have been ingested. It avoids more serious complications that can be encountered with surgery, and the recovery is minimal (patients are typically back to normal within a few hours)!

We are happy we were able to help with both Odie and Oliver today and grateful for the wonderful team at Healthy Petz Veterinary Hospital for their assistance! ❤🐾

Team Nashville met Amelia at VCA McKay’s Mill Animal Hospital for an abdominal ultrasound. She was an excellent patient for her imaging, and was easily persuaded with some spray cheese and belly rubs.

We don't often have the pleasure of seeing puppies, so Dr. Larson and Fran took advantage of the opportunity to steal some cuddles with this cute girl. 🐾❤️🎉

Ladies & Gentlemen, allow us to introduce Paige. 💜🐾🐶

Dr. Larson and Fran have been partnering with Priest Lake Veterinary Hospital to help manage her recurring bladder stones. Unfortunately, Paige has had three prior surgeries to remove the stones, and her family was hoping to avoid a fourth!

With close monitoring and careful observation, Dr. Larson discovered the stones were still very small in size. This meant Paige was a good candidate for a procedure called Voiding Urohydropropulsion.

While sedation was still required for Paige's comfort, this procedure allowed Dr. Larson to place a sterile urinary catheter into Paige's bladder. The bladder was expanded with sterile saline, and the stones were then "flushed" out! The stones were collected and will be sent to a lab for analysis. Once Dr. Larson learns the mineral content of the stones, she'll provide recommendations to help reduce recurrence in the future.

Routine rechecks with an ultrasound will allow Priest Lake Veterinary Hospital to monitor Paige closely. If she happens to make more stones in the future and they are identified early, this procedure can be repeated to avoid further surgical intervention.

A huge thank you to the team at Priest Lake Veterinary Hospital for the opportunity to participate in Paige's care. We are so glad she could avoid another invasive surgery! 🎉

Team Nashville met this beautiful Bengal, Ona, at Southern Veterinary Center. 😽🥰

Ona has a history of ongoing (albeit intermittent) vomiting, diarrhea, and weight loss, so an abdominal ultrasound was performed to further investigate.

Based on Dr. Larson's ultrasound findings, it appears Ona may have an underlying enteropathy (or chronic gastrointestinal disease). An endoscopy procedure was suggested as the next steps for Ona, which is a minimally invasive tool to further investigate the GI tract. Not only does endoscopy allow us to visualize the stomach, small and large intestines, but it also provides the opportunity to obtain biopsies of the tissues.

Once the samples have been safely obtained, they are sent to a pathologist for review. This information often leads to a diagnosis, allowing Dr. Larson and the team at Southern Veterinary Center to prescribe the most effective treatment plan. Our hope is to get Ona back on track and feeling better soon!

Dogs and cats commonly suffer from chronic gastrointestinal disease, so don't hesitate to reach out if Dr. Larson and Fran can help!

Team Nashville met Molly at Animal Care Center of Carters Creek. Poor Molly has been suffering from anemia (a low red blood cell count) and weight loss, so an abdominal ultrasound was performed to further investigate.

We're happy to report there were no abnormal findings on her ultrasound, and we're glad sweet Molly still has a good appetite for treats! Dr. Larson and Fran are helping the team at Animal Care Center of Carters Creek with some next steps for this beautiful girl. 🐶💜🐾

As always, thank you for inviting MOVES into your hospital, we appreciate having the opportunity to participate in the care of your patients!

Dr. Larson and Fran embrace every opportunity to utilize their Fear Free handling techniques, and Cricket from White Oak Animal Hospital couldn't wait! Sporting a lime green bandana sprayed with a pleasing kitty pheromone, she absolutely loved (or demanded) her push-up treat. We love when our patient’s come hungry and their visits are enjoyable rather than stressful! 🐾❤️🎉

Team Nashville visited Berry Hill Animal Hospital to perform a diagnostic endoscopy procedure on Pete, who had a mass within his re**um.

Using her Karl Storz Endoscopy equipment, Dr. Larson was able to obtain biopsies of the mass, which were sent off to our partners at EVP. Their team of fantastic pathologists evaluated the samples and confirmed the mass to be a Carcinoma. While we never want to give bad news, having a diagnosis will help guide the next steps and allow his family to consider their options for Pete.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of Pete's care and wish him all the best. ❤️🐾

12/08/2022

Team Nashville visited Priest Lake Veterinary Hospital for a foreign body retrieval on poor Rocky, and ended up finding some additional abnormalities. As you can see in the pictures, Dr. Larson and Fran found some erosions (or ulcerations) along the stomach wall and quickly took advantage of this opportunity to perform biopsies of the affected areas.

We partner with Eastern VetPath, who's team of fantastic pathologists will evaluate these samples and provide further information as to the cause for these changes. One of the main benefits of endoscopy is the minimal recovery required! Typically, once patients recover from the anesthesia, they are good as new and can be discharged the same day!

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and the information gathered from his endoscopy procedure will have him feeling better soon! 🐾❤️

03/08/2022

Dr. Larson & Fran visited WesVet Animal Hospital to meet Arlo. Arlo has a history of profound weight loss, so an abdominal ultrasound was performed to further investigate.

After performing an abdominal ultrasound on him a few weeks prior, they were back to perform an upper GI endoscopy. Diagnostic endoscopy is a minimally invasive tool that can be used to visualize the inside of the GI Tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestines, and/or large intestines). It allows our team of Internists to look for signs of ulcers, foreign material, masses, or changes to the tissue that would suggest underlying disease like Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Using her KARL STORZ Endoscopy equipment, Dr. Larson can obtain biopsies of the various tissues. We partner with EVP, whose team of fantastic pathologists will evaluate these samples and provide further information as to the cause of the symptoms.

One of the main benefits of endoscopy is the minimal recovery required! Typically, once patients recover from the anesthesia, they are good as new and can be discharged the same day!
