Did you know? Dogs must be 24 months or older for OFA Hip and Elbow certification, and 12 months or older for Cardiac, Patellas, and Thyroid certification. There is no age minimum for eye certification, nor for DNA, since DNA does not change as the dog ages.

The OFA also does Preliminary evaluations on hips and elbows before 24 months of age. However, they will need to be re-evaluated again for a final certification once the dog reaches 24 months.

River is now a UKC champion pending. I’m hoping for better pics later. Winter is showing UKC this weekend to and has a few points toward his title . I know this is not a good pic of him and there were no professional photographers present. River shows in AKC this next weekend. One of the most common myths is that rescue/rehome dogs for example have been hit if they shy away from head pats.

Nope, dogs by large don't actually like being touched on the head by strangers and sometimes even by their humans.

Most dogs who accept head patting simply have learned to tolerate our weird ways. Of course, there are outliers, the more social individuals who love any kind of pat.

If you have a rescue/rehome, they don't need stories of why they do and don't do things, they need, training, leadership (rules & boundaries), consistency & clarity...maybe more so than dogs who grew up in the one home especially at the start of your relationship.

Yes, some dogs have had abusive backgrounds but unless you know what happened, the story doesn’t benefit your dog.

Victorious Angel of Hope is a UKC Champion! ❤️ Good day of trialing and showing for us today - Hopes got Best Female and Best of Winners in conformation, RO1 title with the First place, High in Trial and Total Dog award, first leg in RO2 with Second place (knocked down a sign with her happy tail, lol!).
