Cat Action Trust 1977 Nuneaton & Hinckley We are a registered charity dedicated to the health and welfare of feral and stray cats. The charity is totally against killing for expediency.

CAT 1977’s policy is to help feral cats by limiting their numbers through neutering and returning to site, by providing veterinary care where necessary, and by finding homes for kittens and tame stray cats. CAT 1977 also helps to educate the public and other animal welfare organisations about the humane control and care of the feral cat population through its website, newsletter and leaflets. Fera

l cats are the descendants of lost or abandoned domestic (“tame”) cats. Because they have not been handled by humans as kittens, they grow up as if they are wild animals and are wary of humans. They are therefore invariably extremely difficult to handle, and specialised equipment is needed to trap and restrain them without injury to the cat, the trapper, or the vet. Cats are extremely efficient reproducers. Large groups of feral cats (colonies) very soon build up and are found in numerous environments, such as parks, hospital grounds, factory premises and the gardens of private houses. Uncared for and allowed to breed unchecked, the life of a feral cat is short, miserable and full of suffering. However, once neutered, and if there is some shelter and a reliable food source available, feral cats can live long and healthy lives.

💜 First newborns of the year! 💜

Yesterday afternoon we welcomed the first newborns here at N&H! 🥰
They have been born to a very feral cat we had in from a colony we are working on, just in the nick of time!
She was very brave and let us peep in to check on her and the kittens.
Unless one is hiding, there are 3 very healthy tabby kittens 🤗

The Famous Five!

These beautiful babies are now ready for adoption. They were born in our care to an extremely feral Mum, who has now been placed on a farm. With the work of our wonderful foster carers, they are now incredibly friendly!
They are 5 months old.

✅ We are being neutered and microchipped this week

✅ We are up to date with flea and worming treatments

✅ We have been in foster care with dogs

✅ We can live with cat savvy children over 5

❓We would prefer to rehome them in pairs, or to houses with another pet

If you are interested in adopting any of these lovely kitties, please message us directly.
Minimum adoption fee and home checks apply.

And another one! 🐈‍⬛🙀

We have a very young, very pregnant black feral cat who was trapped today and is now safely in our care.
She is very troubled by the whole experience, bless her and is enjoying the warmth of an igloo bed 🥹

We have updated our Amazon Wishlist to include kitten food/biscuits etc. If anyone is able to, we’d be very grateful for kitten food donations, as we now have two heavily pregnant cats and a Mum and 5 kittens in our care. I’m sure there will be more to come! 🙏

🤍 Another new arrival! 🤍

It’s been a busy night here at CAT77 N&H.

This beautiful baby has been advertised as roaming around the centre of Earl Shilton for the last few weeks. Sadly no one has come forward for them.
He/she has been brought into our care for their safety.
Thankyou very much to the lovey member of the public who was able to trap & bring to us. We couldn’t do what we do, without everyone’s continued support 😻

We would estimate they are only about 6 months old, pure white and very malnourished.

Now time to decompress for the night, in a warm cosy bed with a full tummy, before being assessed over the next few days.

🤍 New arrivals 🤍

We were contacted about this Mum who had bought her 5 kittens into someone’s garden a few days ago. She is sadly not microchipped.

Kittens are roughly 4-5 weeks old.
They are now all safely within our care 🤗

🌈 Chester 2021-2025 🌈

Not the news we wanted to be sharing with you all. Unfortunately Chester passed away an hour or so ago 😢 His body just couldn’t cope anymore, and even the wonderful vets couldn’t figure out why he crashed so suddenly. Thankfully one of his foster carers was able to make the journey to The Willows to be there as he crossed rainbow bridge.
Please bare with us while we take time to grieve and process the sudden loss of wonderful Chester 😭💔

🩵 Chester 🩵

One of our long term foster kitties Chester, who many of you know from visiting has had a very rough 24 hours to say the least! 😿 The last few days he has been eating and drinking a lot more than usual, and had lost a dramatic amount of weight very suddenly.

We took him to Paws, who admitted him and ran their tests on him. He’s severely anaemic and dehydrated despite drinking a lot. His PCV (red blood count) was dangerously low, so Paws advised we transfer him to The Willows in Solihull, due to him quite possibly needing a blood transfusion. Chester was transferred by his foster carers last night, and the team at The Willows were wonderful.

*Saturday Update 6:15am* - No news. The Critical Care Vet did say he’d only ring if Chester did need a transfusion, or if his condition changed. He also said if we haven’t heard by lunch time to ring.

*Saturday Update 12:30pm* - That was a really positive phone call with his Critical Care Vet! 🥰 He’s much more stable for now. His PCV (red blood cells) have held stable without dropping anymore, even after small amounts of IV Fluids. They are very low, but they think it’s chronic rather than acute due to him coping okay with it and his body coping okay. He’s only on fluids and monitoring in the ICU. Chester has had an ultrasound this morning, which shows no internal bleeding. He’ll be staying in still, and on Monday the Internal Medicine team will come and do a full work up, including a CT scan (eek, best get my fundraising head on..) to try and get to the root cause of why he is so poorly. He’s charming the pants off everyone as usual 😻

Unfortunately the cost of this is going to be in the thousands! 😖
However The Willows were very confident as he is only nearly 4, they would be able to find a solution and fix him up if he can be fixed!

If you can spare even a pound towards Chester’s treatment, we would be very grateful!
We will also look into doing fundraising as well when we can 🙏

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers! 😿

♥️Update♥️

Our little man’s surgery was 100% successful 🥳

He is now safely back with his foster carer and will be on strict pen rest for 2 weeks (with gentle cuddle times when he demands)

We would like to say an enormous THANKYOU to each and every one of you who donated towards his surgery. We are so grateful ♥️

ADOPTED! 😻 Together ❤️

We have this beautiful family of 4 ferals in our care. 3 boys and a 1 girl.
They are neutered, ear tipped and treated for fleas and worms.
They are completely non-aggressive, just incredibly timid.

They’re all the same litter and no more than a year old 🥰

Would anyone be interested in giving this family a loving home on a farm/small holding?
We do ask that they are provided with shelter,
clean water and fed twice daily with clean water too please 💜
