CLAWGS have come a long ways from the prototype days. Can you name all the improvements we snuck on CLAWGS over the past couple years?

I’ll name one... and by one, I mean SIX- ADJUSTABLE STRAPS!

There’s lots of unique paw shapes and sizes and we want to CLAWG them all!

Adjust CLAWGS’ around each toe and around both sides of dogs’ heels.

It takes some effort to properly adjust all 24 straps for four CLAWGS, but it’s worth it to make our most loyal friends’ tails wag. Once you properly adjust the strap lengths, it’s easy to maintain them.

We’ll continuously post videos of different breeds and unique conditions with the hope of teaching you strap adjusting nuances and some Clawging tricks 🐕

We have crossed the bridge from a neat idea to a small business! 🌱

All of our energy for the foreseeable future will go towards producing and distributing Clawgs to our backers and making sure everyone is happy with the proper sizes. This means we will be quiet in the social media world for a while. But don’t worry! We are alive and well thanks to our backers and supporters 🤍

Dogs love chasing sticks. We love pawwear that sticks.

Dogs paw pads often slip on slick surfaces. It gets even more difficult for them as they age. Clawgs tread grips nicely and can easily bend and flex with your dog’s movement.

You should feel confident that your dog’s pawwear will stay on your dog’s paw.

Half of Clawgs’ leg band is elastic and the other half is an adjustable strap. Clawgs stay attached when the strap is properly tightened.

Dogs have completely different anatomy than people do. We often humanize them and will do things like refer to their paws and claws as feet and nails.

Perhaps that is why most dogs’ paw-wear resembles people’s foot-wear. At Dog Sap, we believe that dogs need paw-wear that’s designed with their anatomy in mind. We created the first paw-wear that allows dogs to use their claws.

You can store Clawgs in the included pouch. We know this isn’t the reason you like Clawgs, but we thought it’d be a nice touch.

Perhaps your dog will wear Clawgs while walking on hot pavement on the way to the dog park. You may want to remove Clawgs while your dog is running and playing at the park. This will give you a place to store Clawgs while your dog is having fun. You can tie the drawstring to a leash or belt loop.

This seemed like a better place to store Clawgs than your pocket or holding them in your hand. What do you think? Is this something you will find useful or will it just end up in a landfill and shouldn’t be included in the box?

Did you know that dogs sweat through their paws? Many people say that dogs don’t sweat but that isn’t entirely accurate. Dogs cool down by panting but they sweat through their paw pads.

It’s important that moisture can escape from paw wear. Lack of ventilation can cause problems such as rashes, blisters, fungus, infections, etc.

Clawgs are single dew claw friendly. Most dogs have single dew claws that grow on the inside of dogs’ front legs and don’t touch the ground while standing. We designed Clawgs’ leg band to attach below dew claws.

Have you seen the way dogs react to thick, stiff, heavy soles? Have you compared it to their reaction while wearing thin, flexible, lightweight soles?

We experimented with many sole materials and thicknesses and found that dogs react most favorably to thin, flexible, lightweight soles. They need to get a feel for the ground in order to walk naturally from the start.

Your dog’s comfort is our priority. We don’t want to weigh your dog down. We modeled Clawgs more after lightweight, low cushioned trail runners rather than thick, heavy boots.

Are you excited about the way Clawgs open and close? Do you like that Clawgs open and close silently?

Clawgs open completely up and there are a couple ways to attach them to your dog’s paws. Some people like sliding their dog’s digits into the Clawgs first followed by attaching and tightening the leg strap. Other people like attaching and tightening the leg strap first, then wrapping the Clawgs around their dog’s digits. It’s nice to have options.

It’s also nice that Clawgs open and close silently. Velcro makes a loud ripping noise, which is quite obnoxious. We’ve seen the way some dogs cringe or hide at the sound of Velcro ripping open. Buckles make a clicking noise, which sounds like nail clippers. We do not want any noises associated with Clawgs. We want to make attaching and removing Clawgs as stress free as possible for you and your dog.

What is your favorite Clawgs’ feature? Do you like the flexibility?

The only parts of Clawgs that do not stretch is the metal G hooks, the metal strap length adjuster, and the strap, which only goes half ways around dogs’ legs.

We bonded elastic soft rubber to an elastic polyester blend. Stretchy bonded to stretchy = still stretchy!

The polyester blend is stretchier and more flexible than the soft rubber. The area under the leg band consists of two layers of purely the polyester blend material – so that area is extremely flexible. Your dog’s wrists/ankle is not bound to any position or angle. Clawgs can move around under the leg band to fit your dog’s needs.

We don’t mind if Clawgs rotate side to side or slide a bit forward or backwards. As long as your dog’s pads contacts the soft fabric and the rubber contacts the ground, we’re happy and your dog will be too.

Clawgs are completely different than everything that’s been made in the paw protection world. We think that’s a good thing. Since they are so new and innovative, it’s understandable that there will be some concerns and skepticism.

💚You love your dog💚 and want to do what’s in its best interests. We want to do that too. We’ve put a ton of thought into making Clawgs with your dog’s interests in mind.

We’ve heard concerns that dogs’ middle digits may be bound together while wearing Clawgs. Please see the gif in our comments demonstrating a dog’s middle digits range of motion.

We are listening to your concerns and will continue to make clips that show Clawgs’ abilities. With your support, you will be able to see it firsthand. A huge thank you to all our backers!

Are Clawgs vet approved?

We have had informal conversations with multiple vets that think that Clawgs are a great idea – including multiple orthopedic vets.

After receiving requests for proof, we started searching for other paw-wear manufacturers formal vet approval documents to see what the format looks like. We couldn’t find any. After not finding formal vet approval letters for any other paw-wear manufacturers, we reached out to one of the vets that thought Clawgs were a great idea. We told her that people are requesting formal vet approval forms for Clawgs and she said that “that’s ridiculous. Doctors do not approve hiking boots. Vets do not approve paw-wear.”

We have concluded that vets will not formally tie their name to any paw-wear and say that this paw-wear is 100% safe for all dogs in all circumstances. They do not want that liability and there's no incentive for them to stick their neck out on the line for some company. The only way I could see a vet formally "approving" a paw-wear design is if the company paid the vet a large amount of money, which is extremely unethical all around.

We have been extremely disappointed with the paw-wear that's available and have dedicated 5 years of our lives to giving dogs a better option. Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine that you have paws and claws rather than feet. What would you want your paw-wear to look like?

What color(s) do you want to put on your dog?

We chose white because it radiates heat the least and keeping paws as cool as possible is extremely important to us. We realize that not everyone lives in hot climates and is concerned about keeping paws cool. We had to start somewhere and white made the most sense to us. We hope to make additional colors in the future.

In the meantime, we’ve given you a blank canvas to get creative with. Feel free to dye or paint Clawgs whatever color you want! You can make Clawgs match your dog’s fur or match your dog’s gear. We’ve seen some creative gear out there and can’t wait to see your Clawg designs!

We are over 25 % funded in just ten days! We are on our way to putting Clawgs in your hand.

You may be asking - $100,000 ??!! Why does Dog Sap need that much money?

We have 10 sizes and need to pay for the minimum order quantities for each size. Everyone that mentored us told us that 10 is way too many sizes and suggested that we shoot for 5 max. That way, our funding requirement would be reduced by half. Some people suggested that we just make sizes for the majority of dogs, the medium sizes, and don’t worry about the tiniest and the largest dogs.

We truly believe in our product and think that ALL dogs can benefit from Clawgs – big or small! We chose not to neglect the tiny and large dogs. Hopefully we are still able to reach our funding goal. If you have a tiny dog or a large dog that has been neglected in the past, now is the time to step up and show us that we made the right choice.
