Our precious Luna found her forever home. She is adjusting well, trying to be friends with the family cat. She’s also enjoying sleeping on the bed!! It was extremely hard to say goodbye to her, but it meant we could open our home to more dogs in need .... see next post 😉
Our precious mama luna had been spayed and had a dental. She will be ready for adoption very soon, and so far theres a lot of interest in her! Who doesn't want the most perfect lab? Out of puppy faze, crate and house trained, amazing with kids and other dogs. Leaves the rabbits alone, walks amazing on a leash even with a 4 year old!! Listens well and is extremely affectionate?!
I love and adore this dog so much already. When I say shes perfect , I genuinely mean it. If I didn't have my 3 dogs already, I would keep her without hesitation. I've cried over the decision to not keep her, that's how much I love her already!! Unfortunately for me, the more dogs I keep, the less dogs I can help :( and I've tried to tell myself over and over that I will not keep highly adoptable dogs. These are the dogs that don't really need me and will be perfect for any family or couple. I hate to deprive a household from having such an incredible dog, and I'd hate to have to eventually stop helping more dogs.
Luna is a 5 year old chocolate lab. She was used as a breeder and kept outside in less than ideal conditions. Even after all that , she is the most amazing dog youd ever meet. She walks like a lady on a leash (my 4 year old can walk her!). She has manners with other dogs and is very calm when meeting. She is a go with the flow girl, enjoys her walks and might even trot but doesn't seem like a big runner. Most of all, she likes to be your shadow and soak in all your love by always having her head on your chest or shoulder.
Luna was just spayed and had her dental so is ready for her forever home!! She will be available through Alberta Lost Pet Locator Rescue Society!! Check out their page and fill an application if you're interest in meeting her!

Coconut has caved to Mamas charm. Mama keeps her distance because tiny coconut chased her yesterday lol. But today they're doing wonderful together 💗
Meet "Mama". We are currently disagreeing on what her permanent name will be 😂
She is said to be 5 years old. Shes been used as a breeder. A way to make money. Then was being disposed of. Just wanted her gone. She had never known the warmth of a home or comfort of her own bed. She doesn't know how to play with toys. She has an infection on her neck from being chained in a yard , and broken teeth from biting at that chain. Mama is scared of loud noises and cowers and runs if our 3lb chihuahua comes at her.
Yet after all that , she is the most gentle and loving soul you can find. Her eyes were so sad when she was picked up. But she has such a beautiful spark now. She loves to be pet. She loves to give kisses. Shes so polite that after a couple small corrections, even my 4 year old can walk her. She has 0 reaction to dogs, cats, birds and other people around our house. She sleeps through the night peacefully in her crate surrounded by big blankets and lots of teddies.
This girl is a dream , we are truly the lucky ones to have met her.
Because of the coronavirus, we are waiting for the vet to be able to get her in for a spay and dental at the same time. I am hugely grateful to ALPL for agreeing to take her in. And to Olivia , our incredible transporter who without hesitation made the 7 hour journey.
Unfortunately I called the border because we had all transport all lined up. And because of Coronavirus, they will not be allowed to cross the border. Of course I understand this and respect this. But it's a huge disappointment, as I had one dog coming down, and a rescue I volunteer for had 15+
Meet this sweet old lady! She has spent her life living in a back yard, with no shelter. Currently working on transport to Canada. Once we confirm transport, she will be sent for a dental and spay in Mexico before her long journey north.
RIP sweet baby :( these are exactly the kind of dogs I want to be able to help. The oldies who are tossed away like their nothing. They deserve the most love and pampering at this age :(

You can visit me at my temporary home at C408. My former family who owned me for more than 5 years had to give me up because they couldn't afford the care I need. But they said that I spend most of my time indoors. I seem to be good with small children. I am housetrained. I am good on a leash. I have advanced obedience skills. Sometimes I try to do art to get funds to put towards rescue. Either my personal rescues, or to help other rescues who are near and dear to my heart. Today I had a go at doing a horse for the first time. I'm no professional but I quite liked it!
Remy is enjoying being with her foster family! This week she is finally able to get her vaccines and we will test for heartworm when she is spayed! Shes a smart girl whose great with other dogs and cats!
Remy got freedom last night! She was released from the vet and headed to her foster home until she has finished her pain meds and antibiotics because she is still sore.
Once shes feeling better, she will be going in for her heartworm test, spay and vaccines. The bills just keep on growing, luckily myself and her angel mom in Mexico were able to cover most of the bills so far. Fortunately for us, we have some time to come up with approx $250 CAD to cover her next round of vetting!
If anyone can spare even $5 , it's so much appreciated! We wish we could help more than 1 dog at a time, but unfortunately, our finances don't allow it on our own :(

Meet Remy! This sweet little girl was found hit by a car bleeding in Mexico. The authorities were called, but they left her there. Lack of resources and funding, means nowhere for her to go, and no money to pay for her treatment.
Lucky for her, an amazing friend and partner we have in Mexico, went to her location and brought her to emergency vet. The bleeding, luckily was superficial, xray and ultrasound showed everything was normal. We've been doing blood work to test for parvo/distemper/ehrlichia/heartworm etc. We had to pay for them to bath her, treat fleas and ticks, vaccinate and deworm. She also needed pain meds.
Once she is feeling better, we will also need to get her spayed.
Our bill is approaching 4000MXN and keeps climbing. We have approximately 3000MXN covered so far, but any support is appreciated, whether you SHARE or donate! We appreciate it SO much!
We are only 2 people, but the more support we have, the more we can help make a difference in Mexico for the street dogs! Thank you for sharing and reading!
