After the loss off Sugar we learned of this poor old soul who was at the same shelter we pulled Sugar from. We felt the best way we could honor Sugar was to help another in need…So we welcomed Henrietta and we hope that over the coming weeks and months she will have as amazing of a recovery as sweet Sugar did.

One of our volunteers got a call yesterday from an employee who was checking in on a client at their residence in the early am and saw an elderly gentleman next door in a wheelchair chair with a tray of steaming rice mixed with bouillon feeding stray cats. We requested they give the gentleman our phone number so that we can assist him in feeding the stray kitties that he is doing his best to make sure have full bellies and we will offer to alter them as well.

We felt it was a good idea to make this post to let anyone know if you have stray or community cats that you are trying to feed and are unable to feed them please reach out to us and we will provide you with cat food. Or if you are within the Wi******er,Frederick and Hampshire County areas and are struggling to feed your own pets please reach out to us and we will help you ( no questions asked and we don’t judge). It’s important to us to make sure that no animal in our community goes hungry. We can’t feed pets all over the world but we sure can make sure in our little slice of the world they all have full bellies.

Also, please keep an eye out for your elderly neighbors who may be like the gentleman mentioned above who from what we are told has no local family or internet and isn’t aware of resources to help him with feeding the kitties he’s helping.

Sugar, the one who made us realize the need for the Sugar Shack Sanctuary to be created for the the seniors that otherwise have no where else to go.

Sugar is 13 yrs old and suffered such neglect and pain. It took us many many months to get Sugar on the mend and feeling better. She’s a very special old girl.

Meet Angel, shes 15 and she’s also a shelter pull that was owner surrender due to senior dog issues. Angel was also listed as being nippy and biting. It was true, but she loves us now and doesn’t try to bite anymore, welcomes love and attention and loves bum scratches. Angel has liver disease and requires a special diet and medications.

We are going to officially introduce some of the senior citizens.

Meet Coco, she came to us from the shelter where she was owner surrendered because she was having senior dog issues and her owners were not able to care for her, she’s about 15 yrs. She went directly to the vet where we learned she has kidney disease , terrible teeth and cataract, her owners thought she was blind from it but she’s not ( her pressures just need to be monitored).When we pulled her she had kennel cough pretty bad but is feeling much better now…She’s a doll baby and the sweetest little thing you ever did meet… Coco loves to be held and snuggled.

These two have become best buddies and love snuggling together.

Angel was pulled from the shelter and is 15 yrs old and has liver disease and Noah is 15 or 16 yrs and was also pulled from the same shelter. Unfortunately Noah is paralyzed in his rear end but soon his wheels should be arriving so he can gain more mobility.
