This is why we have “heart horses” ❤️❤️❤️

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′healing′′ that occurs when we're close to horses.
According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body.
While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can feel better when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace.
In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy.

My introduction 😂

I have 2 ex racehorses amongst other breeds and lost my mojo in competitions for a number of years, but I’m at the point now where I’m getting ready to compete over winter and next season. My 2 boys are lovely and super calm (sometimes 😬) on a ride out, however once in an arena, one (Hero/Quadrifolio) resembles a giraffe and the other (Ludo/Unex Modigliani) is either a perfectionist or will nap because he doesn’t understand the instructions.
I’ve followed and styled my riding on Enlightened Equitation and Heather Moffett since I was 14, and whilst doing my teaching exams with Heather, I found myself a new friend and wonderful horseman Omar Rabia, not only is he an EE level 4 teacher but also the author of his amazing book series “Cobs Can”, well I can tell you, his in hand work on Ludo on Sunday was out of this world, I will get some videos put together of our in hand work over the next couple of weeks

💬🔦 Have you heard the term Social License to Operate yet? If not, headsup, it's something we all need to take note of! Our culture is changing, many people's lives no longer have a connection with horses and it's causing them to question what they see. The ongoing social acceptance of riding, keeping, using horses for sport and pleasure that we've, up until now, taken for granted, is in the spotlight.

We attended a really interesting discussion on this subject last night hosted by The British Horse Society's Patrick Print and Naomi Ainley from Northumberland College Equestrian Centre at Kirkley Hall. Far from being 'fluffy' and something to dismiss, they both see this as a topic that needs our urgent attention. If we don't it has the potential to jeopardise our whole equestrian community. They are keen we see this as a positive, an opportunity for us to look again at the way we do things from the horses point of view and strive to do better to give them not just an acceptable life but the very best we can.

💡The next step is a workshop to generate practical solutions and ideas for change. We're really looking forward to taking part. What would your top priorities be to improve horse wellbeing? What do you think are the main sources of pain, fear, distress or frustration that you see in the horses around you?

Looking for students in north west to north east, I need to produce evidence of my teaching for my portfolio for dressage and equitation riders, ideally I want people who aren’t yet out competing, I teach French classical methods so you will achieve much more harmony with your horse than using any artificial aids, my methods also open up communication with your horse through your seat without restricting them 💖😊

Demonstration of hip direction in canter, very difficult to achieve when your used to the pony/riding club “polishing saddle” technique which actually inhibits the horses movement
