Millions of dogs are abandoned on the streets around the world, and combating this alarming number seems like an almighty task. Especially because of the easy reproduction of dogs and the irresponsibility of many people.

Here at Adopt Don't Shop campaign, we want to help create awareness about dog abandonment. If you are wondering why you should adopt a stray dog, we have the following reasons for you:

1. You will learn how to be responsible.
Rescuing a stray dog ​​or adopting from a shelter is a decision that should not be taken lightly, and that compromises you for the rest of the animal's life. That is why adoption will help you become more responsible, having another living being that depends on you is a huge responsibility.

2. You save a life.
Adopting a street dog will save their life, giving them a second chance to have a home and live a dignified and happy life. But also, if you have enough free space you should welcome a second dog, who will also be waiting for their perfect family.

3. You earn a furever friend.
If you have ever felt isolated, after you have adopted a dog you will never feel alone again. A dog's love has no limits, they will accompany you in the good and bad, will wait for you at the door every day and will be sympathetic to your emotions.

4. You adopt a unique animal.
Dogs that are abandoned on the street and protected in shelters are usually cross-breeds (we can also find dogs of race), so they are specimens of unique appearance and well-defined personalities, some different from others.

In this way, you can take home a dog who looks like you or has a similar personality! Unfortunately both adult dogs and puppies are in need of a home, so it is up to you to decide which you can devote your time to. Have a thorough think before you make your decision.

5. You save money.
Needless to say, buying a dog from a breeders will cost you quite a great deal of money and nothing guarantees that they will live long, considering the poor conditions they are often brought up in. Likewise, these purebreds are often born with defects and are prone to diseases.

Taking home a stray dog will not cost you anything but the responsibility of taking care of them. If you take them from a shelter, they may even have been sterilized and vaccinated already.

Anything is paw-sible with a dog by your side.

Every dog is a responsibility, and it takes a kind hearted person to go through the process of adoption. Welcoming a new friend into your home is an amazing privilege.

You don’t just stop supporting these puppy mills, but you are also supporting unloved and neglected dogs.
Aside from saving a life, you are also saving your money.

If you want to know more, best is to visit the nearest rescue groups or shelters. Speak to rescuers and get as much information as possible. From there, you would have a better idea if it is best to adopt or not and if it is, then knows which dog breed to adopt. Anything is paw-sible with a dog by your side. Love is a wet nose and a wagging tail.
