Morning all,

All packed up, ready for the Lewiston Farmer’s Market!
It’s going to be a hot one!!! Hope you’re staying cool somehow.
It was hot harvesting herbs and cutting flowers. Lavender is in full bloom! I am bringing a lot! When you’re thinking about if you can go out in the heat to come shopping at the market, think about the farmers! Working in the fields hours on end, rain or heat to provide you with all this healthy goodness!!!!
Think about the bakers, it gets pretty hot with those ovens going!
Think about the crafts people, producing their art in this humidity!
Then put on your sun bonnet and come shopping!
Lots going on at the market today. Fresh garden vegetables are in abundance, cold lemonade from Halo Sips,, Bates Dance workshop, music and more.
I made pulled pork & potato hand pies and asparagus & cheese hand pies. Will have them frozen, ready to warm up! With the heat I wanted to be safe!
Also made garlic scape pesto and some other goodies!

Morning all,

All packed up, ready for the Lewiston Farmer’s Market!

Mission successful! Got most of the garden planted last week! Now I’m back to cooking, baking and harvesting!
The flowers are all beginning, Fever Few, Delphiniums, Yarrow, Black Eyed Susans, Shasta Daisies and more. Lavender is in full bloom!
I made broccoli Cheddar hand pies. Will have them fresh baked, ready to eat! Also made pumpkin whoopie pies and Gluten Free pumpkin squares.
Comer and stock up. I will not be at the market next week; the city of Auburn is naming a square after my Uncle Philbrick. Before crossing the bridge to Lewiston on your left is a sculpture and a couple of park benches on that corner. They are having a dedication for him
Norman Philbrick was a policeman who was killed 75 years ago:

Mornin all,

All packed up, ready for the Lewiston Farmers Market!
A bit chilly this morning, I have about 4 layers on!
I got some organic broccoli from Chirp Creek Farm so made broccoli Cheddar hand pies, chicken broccoli hand pies and broccoli Cheddar soup.
Harvested apples at Thompsons Orchard so made apple cinnamon hand pies and a new batch of apple butter. It takes at least 10 apples to make one 8 oz. jar. It thickens as it cooks down for two days.
Wallingfords had free pumpkins so I made pumpkin spice cake and more caramelized pumpkin seeds! The pigs are very happy with apples & pumpkins!!!
Only one more market for me after today. The market goes until the 26th but I have to start packing for my winter get away.
Hope to see you!
Enjoy this beautiful day and hug someone!!!!!

All packed up, ready for the Lewiston Farmers Market!
For sweets, going with a chocolate theme this week. Made chocolate chocolate chip bread. Similar to chocolate zucchini bread but without the zucchini.
The whoopie pies were a big hit last week so I made pumpkin chocolate chip. Added more cream cheese to the filling so it isn’t so sweet.

Our market hours change for the month of November, from 11 AM to 1 PM.
We are having a Fall Festival today!

From Lewiston Farmer’s Market Newsletter:
For our Fall Fest activities, there will be:
· Pumpkin decorating to contribute to the Just-In-Time Community Pumpkin Tribute scheduled for 1:30pm on Sunday afternoon.
· A craft table with supplies to write messages of support and gratitude for victim's families, survivors, first responders, and other community supporters.
· For kids of all ages we will have a fall scavenger hunt, a taste test, and temporary tattoos.
· At 12pm, we will take a moment to honor Joe Cook, our longtime Farmers Market volunteer, who passed away last year, and dedicate his memorial plaque at the market.
· We will thank our generous sponsors for another amazing season of community support.
We are so grateful to be a place of gathering, connection, and community in Lewiston and are holding you all close right now.

There are no words to say about the horrible tragedy that happened Wednesday night. My heart goes out to all that have been affected by these senseless shootings.
Lewiston may be a big city but it is a small community of people that care about each other.
Unsure if the market will be happening on Sunday.
If the lock down is lifted the market will be open so people can come get essential goods. The Pumpkin Festival has been postponed.
I am thinking positive so will be baking and preparing for it. Flowers all need to be cut because they will freeze next week.
Life goes on, but sadly not for some.
Hug someone today and tell them you love them!!!!
Will keep you posted. If there’s no market I will come up with another plan.
Take care and stay safe!!!

27/10/2023

Holding all of Lewiston in our hearts, especially those of you grieving loved ones. We will be postposing our Fall Festival until further notice. If the shelter in place order is lifted, we plan to offer a regular food market on Sunday. We are working with St. Mary's Nutrition Center and Maine Federation of Farmers' Markets to offer expanded benefits/vouchers to meet emergency food access needs. We'll post updates to Facebook. Sending love to all 💙
