Over Thanksgiving, the Pensacola Humane Society invited the community to participate in their Save Me A Plate foster program, asking people to share a home with a dog or cat for the holiday weekend. The program has successfully found forever homes for some of the available pets.

This year the temporary fosters for the Save Me A Plate foster program looking to keep their new furry friend had the adoption fees paid by Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals. Brittney Zamora presented a check for $500 to Jessica Fisher and a beautiful Labrador puppy named Blossom for the Pensacola Humane Society at Five Flags Speedway this morning.

Brittney Zamora Racing is one of 48 drivers looking to qualify for Saturday's Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model race at Five Flags Speedway. The top 30 drivers qualify for the race. The rest of the drivers will race a last-chance race where only the first four transfer through. This is Brittney's inaugural visit to the prestigious event, all made possible by the following companies.

Vic-Furry Lane Monday - Brittney Zamora Racing Raising Awareness for Shelter Pets

Joey Logano started the season with a win in the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum and finished the season by winning the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway, crowning him the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Champion. After winning the Clash, Brittney showcased a great-looking pup named Joey, sheltered with the Animal Rescue League of El Paso (ARL). Unfortunately, Joey is still not adopted and is looking for his forever home.

It seemed only fitting with Logano's win; we go back to the start to show you again, Joey. Joey is a two-year-old Terrier and Shepherd Mix. His young life has not been easy. When he was rescued and came to ARL, he had some previous humane trust issues and didn't show well in the kennel. When people walked by, he would bark. Since last featured in February, Joey has improved with trusting humans, becoming more capable of receiving and giving love, as the pictures show.

Joey is great with children and other pets. The one thing that helps Joey is another dog. Joey LOVES dogs, and ARL would like it if Joey could go to a home with at least one other dog. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals paid the adoption fee for Joey; he is neutered and has all his vaccinations, heartworm disease test, microchip/registration, and a collar. Please help and share Joey, a dog with character, love, and the name of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Champion.

Brittney originally found Joey with the help of the Petfinder.com link below. www.petfinder.com/.../animal-rescue-league-of-el.../

Take Me Home Thursday – Brittney Zamora Racing, Raising Awareness for Available Shelter Pets

Herb Moniz, Founder of the Carolina Veterinary Assistance & Adoption Group (CVAAG) in Reidville, NC, has an incredible story of being a lifelong advocate for the health and well-being of pets, especially those facing euthanasia. With the NASCAR Cup Series racing the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway, we reached out to CVAAG, located about 25 miles from the Speedway, to get more information on Brittney's pick of Lexi for TMHT.

Lexi was found as a stray, but the people could not keep her. She reached out to local shelters and was informed Lexi would be euthanized upon intake! Luckily, Lexi made it to CVAAG and is now waiting for her forever home. Lexi is active but also knows when it is time to sit/lay and chill to give love and be loved. Lexi is an almost two-year-old Hound and Pit Bull Terrier Mix. She is HW-negative and spayed. She is people/dog friendly.

Please make sure to go see Lexi's video on her Petfinder post (linked below). Lexi looks to have a lot of love to give to the person or family rescuing her. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals has paid Lexi's adoption fee. Lexi needs the stability of a home and family. Her loyalty and heart of love will be your reward for helping Brittney find Lexi a home. Please help and share.

The current economic situation has doubled the intake rate for shelters, creating money, supplies, and staff shortages. There is also an increased rate of intake from hurricane Ian. Pet owners affected by Ian have been displaced and forced to surrender their pets because shelters (human), hotels, and living arrangements leave no other options. Please help when and where you can.

Vic-Furry Lane Monday - Brittney Zamora Racing Raising Awareness for Shelter Pets

Shelter pets can be born in a shelter, rescued and brought to a shelter, or owner surrendered to a shelter. It doesn't matter how they arrive at a shelter. It's about getting the adoptee into a loving, caring home. Over the weekend, Kyle Larson Racing won the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, providing a second chance for Brittney to highlight Kyle at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) in Encinitas, CA. Kyle was Brittney's choice for Vic-Furry Lane Monday, February 28th, after Larson won the Wise Power 400 at Auto Club Speedway.

Kyle was a stray dog in Sonora, Mexico, when picked up by Rescue Fenix and then cared for by a veterinarian (who loved him) in Sonora until he could be transferred to RCHS through their FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) program. Kyle is one of the favorites at your RCHS. He's a 1-year-and-10-month-old, Tri-colored Hound mix. He's been in the kennels for one full year. Now he's ready to start doing "zoomies" around his forever home track. Even though he's fully grown physically, Kyle still acts like a funny, quirky puppy when he gets excited, when it's time to go for a walk, or when treats are involved. Kyle needs a home with little commotion while settling in and learning the new house rules. He's cautious when meeting new people. Sometimes Kyle walks right up to ask for attention. Other times he hangs back to watch and see how the people react when they pass his kennel.

Kyle would be great at home with other dogs and would benefit from having a fur sibling to help build his confidence and bond in his forever home. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals paid the adoption fee for Kyle. The adoption includes a medical exam, neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, a registered microchip, and a one-year license if his home is in the San Diego Humane Society's Department of Animal Services jurisdiction. By featuring Kyle a second time, Brittney hopes he will have a second chance for someone to see, fall in love and provide a fur-ever home for this very needed and deserving pet. Kyle has a best friend in the kennel next door. His name is "Sir." He's a 1-1/2-year-old Boxer mix. Kyle and Sir can be adopted together if you have enough room in your home and your heart. Please help Brittney and share Kyle so he can find a home.

About RCHS https://rchumanesociety.org/
Dedicated to the San Diego community since 1960, Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) was founded by animal lover Maria K. Lloyd who purchased property off a small dirt road in Encinitas, California. At that time, the shelter was home to dogs, cats, birds, goats, sheep, and even a b***o named Milton. Today, that dirt road is the I-5, but the shelter still resides in the small yellow house where Lloyd once lived.

RCHS is known for its personalized pet adoption process and humane education. RCHS is also recognized for programs and services that strengthen the human-animal bond, including the Animal Safehouse Program, pet food banks, and community outreach that provides a "helping paw" to people in crisis. At RCHS, they believe everyone should be able to keep their beloved pets safe, healthy, and by their side.

Take Me Home Thursday – Brittney Zamora Racing, Raising Awareness for Available Shelter Pets

The NASCAR Cup Series visits Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) this weekend for the Dixie Vodka 400. Only three races remain in the 2022 race season, and HMS could be an action-packed follow-up to last week's South Point 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Ontrack action aside, the NASCAR series racing in the Miami area provided an excellent opportunity to highlight the Humane Society of Greater Miami (HSGM) located in North Miami Beach, FL. HSGM has been helping homeless animals in the Miami-Dade County area since 1936.

HSGM introduced Brittney to Gaia because she has been sheltered with them for over two years. It is hard to understand why some dogs get overlooked, and when seeing and hearing about Gaia, it is hard to believe this sweet 7-year-old Terrier mix hasn't found a home. Gaia enjoys spending time outside on walks or playing in the park but also loves to be inside, snuggled up to her humans. She has yet to find a lap she wouldn't want to sit in. Gaia currently knows the "Sit" and "Paw" commands and is ready to learn even more at home, thanks to her treat-motivated attitude.

Gaia is ready for a family she can finally call her own FOREVER! A family who can show her that true love is worth waiting for. She would prefer to be the only fur-baby in the house, so she can take up all your attention. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals has paid Gaia's adoption fee. Gaia is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. On top of that, Gaia is an HSGM-sponsored Dolly's Dream dog. She comes with up to $350 worth of goodies, including a training crate, leash/collar, and much more!

In Greek mythology, Gaia was the goddess of Earth, the mother of all life, offering life and nourishment to all her children. We are not sure if Gaia can live up to her namesake, but she at least deserves an opportunity to have a home of her own to wag her tail in and a family to love and play with. Please help and share Gaia as she looks to be a great shelter find.

Vic-Furry Lane Monday - Brittney Zamora Racing Raising Awareness for Shelter Pets

Confidence is an excellent characteristic and a characteristic that either does or does not develop over time. Drivers have confidence in their skills, the capabilities of the car, and the team's ability to provide them with the correct setup. Joey Logano had confidence during the South Point 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and when the team told him to pit late in the race for tires, he did. It turned out to be the winning difference locking him in as the first driver in the NASCAR Championship final four.

Logano's win provided us an opportunity to revisit a pup named Joey that Brittney picked for her Take Me Home Thursday post on February 10, 2022. When posted, we felt certain Joey would quickly find his perfect human match and believed he would be nestled snuggly in his forever home by now. Unfortunately, Joey has yet to find that perfect someone, and he is still in the care of the Volunteers for Animal Protection, Inc. (VAP) in Kingwood, TX. Joey is the longest resident of VAP, and he was rescued by one of the VAP volunteers from an abusive and grim situation. The volunteer watched in horror as the previous owner had intentions for Joey that involved a rope, a tree, a bow, and arrows.

Joey radiates confidence and is a ham with the sweetest and most loving personality a dog could have. He loves, loves, loves people big and small and has no problem showing his silly and playful side. Dress him up, take him out, and Joey will be the life of your party. Joey will need to be the only pet (dog or cat) in the house as he interacts excellently with people but doesn't want to share (his people) with another furry companion. Joey is about five years old, up to date on shots, house-trained, and neutered. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals paid the adoption fee for Joey back in February, hoping it would be a positive step in helping get him adopted. Now we ask your help to find this confident, happy, loving ham of a pup in his fur-ever home.

By working with committed volunteers, accredited veterinarians, and other rescue partners, they seek to: Provide displaced animals with temporary housing and proper care through their foster program and shelter facility. They also ensure that animals receive quality medical care using accredited veterinary services and find loving permanent homes using their application, interview, and home visit process. Take Me Home Thursday – Brittney Zamora Racing, Raising Awareness for Available Shelter Pets

The most rewarding part of Brittney's Pit Road Pals is knowing that Brittney is helping shelters find homes for shelter pets needing a little extra attention to find a home. Searching for a Take Me Home Thursday candidate, we came across Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas (RRLV), located about 15 miles from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where the NASCAR Cup Series will be racing the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa 400 this weekend. RRLV is a wonderful rescue organization focused on rescuing dogs from horrific situations overseas.

Lucy is a two-year-old female Labrador Retriever/Jindo mix rescued from a Korean dog meat farm (yes, you read that correctly). Lucy is initially timid, especially with men, but she warms up with a bit of patience. Lucy was abused and mistreated before being rescued and brought to the United States but has made remarkable strides in her foster home, becoming more social and trusting. She loves the freedom of going on a walk and can be somewhat of a diva wearing her various scarf options proudly. The quickest way to win over Lucy is with toys, especially if they squeak. Lucy is okay with other dogs and would be best with older children. She is not a huge fan of car rides (yet) but is becoming more accustomed to them, especially when they end up at the park or somewhere for an outdoor adventure.

Lucy wants to love and be loved. She is a brilliant, independent, sometimes shy, very playful pup that loves her time being a couch potato. Lucy is up to date on vaccines and is spayed. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals has paid the adoption fee for Lucy. Lucy is a fortunate girl given a new opportunity to live a happy and lucky dog's life. Please help Brittney find a fur-ever home for Lucy.

Please take time to see all the greatness happening at RRLV.

Retriever Rescue Las Vegas www.retrieverrescuelv.com/
Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas was founded in Las Vegas, NV., by Danielle Roth-Lapolla and Jon Lapolla in 2019. They focus on International Rescue Retrievers (and other breeds). RRLV's goal is to save dogs in terrible situations overseas. RRLV is a 100% volunteer-based, non-profit organization. They believe in making a difference one dog at a time and being the voice for the voiceless.

The Lapolla's started RRLV because they were aware of outrageous abuse in some overseas countries, and the cases they saw crushed their hearts. It made them think hard about what they could do to make a difference, even if it's one dog at a time.

After volunteering throughout Las Vegas, they wanted not to have to say no to non-purebred dogs, and they didn't want to base rescues on votes. They want to save as many of the loving fury faces as possible and make a difference in the fur babies' lives furever.

Vic-Furry Lane Monday - Brittney Zamora Racing Raising Awareness for Shelter Pets

The Bank of America 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval was an elimination race for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Playoffs. Four drivers were eliminated from Championship contention. Christopher Bell was in a must-win situation to move into the field of eight. Strategy and good fortune provided Christopher with the opportunity to win. Christopher's win kicked off the process of searching, choosing, and confirming Brittney's Vic-Furry Lane Monday candidate. This process can be complicated as some shelters are closed on Monday, and dogs listed on Petfinder.com or Adopt a Pet can become unavailable or adopted before being featured.

David is a perfect example of the challenges faced in finding and confirming availability. The chosen Christopher was unavailable for today's post, and there are not a lot of Christophers available for adoption. We have encountered this a couple of times and have successfully found a needing alternate. Through strategy (Google Search) and good fortune, it turns out David is Christopher Bell's middle name. We found David in the care of the Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) located in Durham, NC. David is a sweet, sensitive, intelligent, affectionate pup who is true to his Treeing Walker Coonhound breed.

As for his breed, he is DEVOTED to it. David is up early and ready to go with the fall-hunting weather. He needs plenty of exercise and long walks in the morning. Running is one of the best activities for a coonhound to burn off energy, so David would make a great running partner. He is very good with kids and loves other dogs, particularly young dogs. David loves to snuggle up with his human and thrives on affection. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals has paid David's adoption fee. He is up to date on his vaccines and has been neutered. A sweet, long-legged, handsome pup, David is hunting for a BHFF (Best Human Friend Forever) and a companion dog or two in his fur-ever home. Please help Brittney and share David. He is an amazing-looking (and sounding) pup filled with love and loyalty!

Take Me Home Thursday – Brittney Zamora Racing, Raising Awareness for Available Shelter Pets

The true test of a driver's talent is on display on a road course. Fittingly scheduled halfway through the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Playoffs, the drivers face the demanding Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval for the Bank of America 400 this weekend. Races at the Roval have always been great for the fans, and this weekend should be the same. About 15 miles or just over 6 laps from the speedway is Kreitzer's Critter Corral Puppy Rescue (KCCPR), located in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

KCCPR hand raises puppies. They call them "bottle babies." These "babies" do not have a dog mommy to feed them, so the KCCPR team becomes their surrogate parents. True did not arrive at KCCPR as a puppy. She came as a pregnant stray in September 2019. She delivered and raised her pups, which have all been adopted. True had medical problems upon intake that took time to work out, mainly hypothyroidism, causing hair loss. Her hypothyroidism has been controlled with a daily pill, and she is an active and otherwise healthy 8-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever.

The truth about True is that she can be a bit of a "terrible people greeter." She has no idea how to greet a person. She gets super excited and anxious to meet someone, especially when she's on a leash, and can make a fool of herself. Then, when she does finally chill out, your personal space is her personal space. Forget about ever having personal space with True around! True also has a sharing problem, mostly with food but sometimes with toys. Due to her resource guarding, True would be best in a home without small children. She can also be wary of other dogs. One minute she might be a friend, the next, a foe. True may also have a significant cat-attitude and prefer not to be with one.

Trues favorite toy is a stuffed rat called "Gym Rat" inside and her Jolly Ball outside. She will practically knock you over to chase her Jolly Ball, her absolute favorite activity! True loves belly rubs and soaking in the sun. She will sit, shake, lay down, and drop things on command. She's funny, keeps you on your toes, and loves life. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals has paid the adoption fee for True. She is up to date on vaccines and is spayed. True has unique needs and will need someone willing to continue to provide her with structure while adding the benefit of a family to help her be the sweet girl in her pictures. Please help Brittney and share True, as she truly deserves fur-ever happiness.

Vic-Furry Lane Monday - Brittney Zamora Racing Raising Awareness for Shelter Pets

When Brittney chooses her Vic-Furry Lane Monday or Take Me Home Thursday pick, it opens the door to communicate and work with each shelter's team, who know more about the pets chosen than any information found on Petfinder or even the shelter's website. We keep records, update each pet featured's status, and follow up when an opportunity arises to assist that pet and shelter again. Chase Elliott's fourth NASCAR Cup Series win of the season, at the YellowWood 500 at the Talladega Superspeedway, provided an opportunity to give a second look at a very deserving pup.

We have featured four Chase (Chase Briscoe counts) pups this season. Two of the four have been adopted. Our June 27 post celebrating Chase Elliott's second win of the season at the Nashville Superspeedway allowed us to feature a Chase sheltered with the Republic Animal Control (RAC) in Republic, MO. Chase and his sister arrived at RAC on May 5, 2021. His sister was adopted shortly after arriving, but Chase has still not been able to find his fur-ever home.

Chase's post performed well with over 1,100 likes, 625 shares, 23 comments, and a total reach of over 9,400, but he is still an adoptee and not adopted! The RAC team told us they are somewhat puzzled by Chase continuously being overlooked. They say he is a super sweet, KID LOVING, all other DOG LOVING, and not only cat tolerant, but he is also a CAT LOVER! He is a tail-wagging carefree, happy boy whose only flaw is that he prefers women over some men. Since our last post, Chase has become much more receptive to men, and he was even able to be fostered with a complete family for a short time. Chase is the biggest celebrity RAC has ever had, participating in the Dogs for Hogs motorcycle ride and a 5K Reindeer Run.

Chase is a two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler / Labrador Retriever Mix and one of the (if not thee) shelter favorites with volunteers. Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals previously paid Chase's adoption fee. He is up to date on his vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. Let's help Brittney get Chase adopted; as much as he loved being a celebrity, we're sure Chase would love it even more to have a home, a family, and furry siblings to snuggle and love.

Take Me Home Thursday – Brittney Zamora Racing, Raising Awareness for Available Shelter Pets

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Talladega, AL home to the Talladega Superspeedway for the YellowWood 500. The Shelby County Humane Society (SCHS) is in Columbiana, AL, about 35 miles from the speedway. On March 8, 2021, another facility brought Zoey to (SCHS) with a severe injury to her neck caused by an embedded chair collar. The collar was so deep in her skin that it left a prominent scar on her throat. SCHS doesn't know Zoey's entire history, but they believe she was a junkyard dog, left chained outdoors for the first year of her life with no love, affection, or socialization.

Because of her rough start in life, Zoey has severe stranger danger tendencies and can be very scared of new people. The only human interactions she had growing up were very negative, so SCHS has been working with her to show her that not all people are bad and that not everyone she sees is trying to harm her. Zoey has done a terrific job with her fear of strangers and has many friends who love her very much. She is reciprocal in how much love she gives back. Zoey is an entirely different dog once she gets to know you.

Zoey is super snuggly (she gets right in your lap or leans on your side), she loves toys and will share them with you, she loves showing people her belly to receive all the belly rubs she can get, and she is just all-around the most affectionate, loving, and goofy girl at SCHS. Zoey will need someone willing to meet her a few times to gain her trust and a home where she can receive the only-child love, attention, and affection she never received growing up and deserves more than ever.

Someone had previously paid the adoption fee for Zoey, so Brittney Zamora's Pit Road Pals has donated to SCHS to help assist with her care. Zoey is up to date on vaccines and spayed. Zoey was granted a second chance to be a loyal companion. She needs a home and someone willing to teach her that not all humans are terrible. It sounds like Zoey has become grateful for being rescued from a horrible situation. Can you imagine the loyalty she will develop with her adopter? Please help Brittney and share Zoey.

Thank you to all who share the passion of finding shelter pets fur-ever homes. Pit Roads Pals growth would not be possible without the community helping it grow. With a reach of over 200,000, we are happy and humbled to be helping one pup at a time!

The Green Flag...

In an effort to increase awareness for shelter pets, Nascar driver Brittney Zamora has launched Pit Road Pals. The objective is to increase awareness for local pet shelters and adoption agencies. While on the road Pit Road Pals will coordinate visits with local media and feature available pets ready and needing adoption.

Brittney regularly looks at local animal adoption websites and it always results in wanting to take one home. Now she will spend time holding, petting and playing with these pets that need a home. "Hopefully our efforts will assist in finding forever homes” said Zamora. Our goal is to raise additional awareness and it will be a cause for Brittney to champion for 2020 and beyond.

This page will be one of many where you can find information on upcoming events, Brittney's pick of the litter and opportunities to get involved. We view this as an opportunity to maximize awareness and create a community of support for those that have rescued and for those that would like to rescue!
