The puppies are HERE!

Aspen's water broke at 10:37pm last night! The first puppy was born at 10:56pm. Aspen was hasty with the first 7 puppies! We finally finished at 1:36am this morning. Aspen blessed us with 8 beautiful babies! There was an hour between the last two and with that said the last puppy was and ANGEL baby. He was perfect in every way! With Aspen falling to sleep on the last few puppies and clearly exhausted with the hast of 7 puppies in 2 hours. Even with the calcium between each puppy he was still born. We worked on him for 30minutes for some kind of sign of life. Mouth to mouth and little chest compressions but he was clearly gone before he graced this earth. Aspen has done great with her first litter! We have 2 beautiful girls and 5 Handsome boys! Aspen was happy to eat this morning! She had not been able to keep anything down since Monday morning. Those BIG babies were getting so big that there was not a lot of room for much food and water. I'm happy to say that mom's maternal instincts kicked in well and all the puppies have fat little bellies and are VERY clean! LOL! The weights were between 11.6oz. and 1lb 1.6oz. With three people doing three different jobs we were moving! The first person helping to get the puppies out, rub the baby and make sure no liquid gets into the lungs, the cord cut, and let momma help dry the baby off. Then the puppy was handed of to get the s*x confirmed, weighed, record times of birth, and a collar to identify each one. Then there was a clean set of disposable p*e pads put down and a calcium supplement. Needless to say everyone is taking the rest of the day to CAT NAP!
