I want to take a minute and update you guys on Charlie. Over the weekend we had seen some behavior in Charlie that would be considered negative and was a safety concern. For adults Charlie seemed fine adjusting well having no issues. We were able to pet him, rub his belly and brush him. I got kisses from Charlie and he was very loving towards me. However Charlie does not do toddlers or children. It was very sad to see that because we wanted Charlie to stay with us. I love Charlie so very much. And it is because of my love that I put Charlie first.
Charlie deserves a fair chance at thriving. He deserves a family to call his own but one were he can be free and relaxed. That is not in a family with children. When you rescue you must access every part of the animal so that they get 100% of their needs met. After we accessed the situation we came to the decision that for Charlie to reach his full potential it would be best done in a home with adults only. My end goal when I started with Charlie was him off the streets and safe in a family be it with me or not. We slowly introduced our kids so that it did not overwhelm him and as we did we learned his stresses, triggers and anxieties. Most people think that rescuing is just taking an animal in and that it will be as simple as bringing it home and feeding it. But that is not the case. 405 Animal Rescue has agreed to take Charlie in and find the perfect fit for him. Please know that I realize I could have "kept" him, maybe in a pen or on chain or in a kennel and that he'd still be with me. But why rescue from one situation just to put him in another just as bad. No thanks. It was not an easy decision and I have bawled because I have bonded and grown attached to Charlie. The most important part is he is off the street and recieved the medical care he needed! Please note if you would like more information on fostering Charlie please look at 405 Animal Rescue. I will still update Charlie's Journey so you can follow along on his progress. Thank you all for your support and love for Charlie. ♡

Here we are 5 A.M. and Charlie hasn't left my bedside. He is so sweet. We made progress last night. Dalton was sitting on the bed and Charlie stepped into the room so he held out his hand and rested it on his knee, Charlie walked under his hand! He wanted head scratches!! So Dalton obliged then he slowly pulls his hand back closer to him and Charlie stepped forward he did this two more times. Charlie brought his nose to Dalton's knee. After so many months of eating from my hands and little touches, he let us love him. He WANTS to be loved, how blessed our we to be his family.

*did not get pictures of this particular event I didn't want to interfere with their bonding*

Welcome this is Charlie's Journey! Charlie is a Great Pyrenees that has been on the streets of Chickasha, Oklahoma since the Spring of 2020. He was just a pup the first time I spotted him at Walmart sitting on the hill. I told my husband then, "stop the car, we need him!" Of course Dalton said, "no baby!

But 3 days later there he was sitting in the middle of the highway at 62 and 81. And that my friends is where our journey began.
