Congratulations to everyone that competed at Waimate NZSI Champs last weekend. It was so great to see all the Perkins Quarter horses out there not just competing but winning!! We are very proud of you all!!

Perkins Quarter Horses National Finals Rodeo 2025.
Miss Kitty qualified for Barrel Racing and Gene Hingst Rode her in the Team Roping too!!
So proud of her achievements this year.
Clayton and Miss Kitty had an outstanding year too!
🥈2nd in NZ for Jnr Barrel Racing
🏅5th in NZ for Jnr Breakaway Roping
🥉3rd in NZ for the Junior All Round Title. In doing so, completely blowing last year's points out of the water🤜🤛.

Perkins Quarter Horses finished off the South Island rodeo's for the year with a bang at Maniototo on Saturday!

Congratulations to everyone and their teams!!

Clayton Perkins and "Miss Kitty" won the Jnr Barrel race, Tegan Hood riding "Demi" won the 2nd Division Barrel race and Brooke Atkinson riding "Methven" won the Open Barrel race!
Talk about being so proud of these horses and jockeys!!
The multi time NZ barrel horse of the year "Methven" is by one of our Stallions; "Argyle Roc T Heart" who was by Sonny T Bar, out of tb mare, bred by Jen and Stacey.
Demi is out of Jack (Breeze Moore) by PC Peppy Jack Frost and Miss Kitty is out of Steel our Sonny T Bar Mare by a Sophisticated Catt C**t called Boy(Owned by Richard Bekhuis).

AND there is more............

Kaylee Hood Riding Matilda (Argyle Roc T Heart x Barbara) and Tegan Hood Riding Demi both placed 5th and 6th respectively in the Pat McGrath South Island Rodeo Series.
Showing great consistency in their barrel racing week in and week out! Well Done!!

AP Spark Bar headed off to his new home this weekend! We are very excited to watch Olivia Weatherburn and Flint's journey unfold!

Clayton and I had a few spare moments to have a quick check in & cuddle with the fluffy baby's 🐎🦄🐎before the next round of jobs!🐄

It was Dentals Day at Perkins Quarter Horses. Megan from VetSouth Equine VetSouth spent most of the day making sure all our horse's mouths are all healthy. From our very special 26yr old Mare to our 18 month old gelding. They all get checked!!

"Shining Star" our 4 year old C**t and Anthony had their first team roping competition this weekend. They teamed up with Clayton and Miss Kitty for their first competition too.
Learners on both ends did a great job!!

Autumn Newsletter -

We are so very excited to let everyone know that Sky Sanders and Lynx won the New Zealand Barrel Racing Rookie Championship. This goal accomplished in their first season out of the Junior Division.
