I haven't been updating here but we have had a lot of kittens go on to the next step of their journey, and some newbies!
Currently working hard on this little guy I named Mouse. He is 7 weeks old and weighs 250 grams. The size of a 2 week old kitten. The most emaciated kitten I have ever seen, but full of fight and s***k!
The day he arrived, and today. 5 days between. Amazing what some doting will do! He still isn't out of the woods yet, but I'm really hopeful.

Bathed and blow dried, pottied and I would say she is feeling good!

I'm going to wait awhile to add her in with Mama Bea and kittens. They are quite a bit larger and more mobile than she is, and almost weaned. In a week or two hopefully she can join them.

Got a message that a single kitten was brought in to the shelter today. Going to pick them up now!

The kittens are growing fast and Mama cat has gotten so much friendlier.
All 4 kittens are now eating wet food with her at 3.5 weeks and nursing. Litter box training should follow in the next week or so.
Everyone is healthy and doing good!

We have 4 healthy kittens!
Very efficient mama and everyone seems to be doing great.
Hopefully mama gets a chance to eat soon and tomorrow I will offer a bigger box so she can stretch out a bit and see how that goes.

She is doing great! Watching the kitten birth cam to see if she has anymore.
All seem vivacious and healthy and she cleaned them right away.
This mama is not very tame or appreciative of interaction. She never let me get a good feel on her belly. We all suspected she most likely was, so I was giving her time. I really did not know for the last 2 weeks if she was actually pregnant or just a fat wild cat in my house LOL. But now we know 😅
I wonder if there will be more?

We have been fostering pregnant mama cat for 2 weeks waiting to see if she was actually pregnant, or just fluffy and a chunky cat.
Well she was pregnant!
She is having her kittens! 2 so far! Will update in a bit! 🥰

I wanted to share this PAW dog. His name is Riddle. These photos were from July. I used to walk him anytime I could. That was how I got started volunteering at PAW Fort Madison Animal Shelter.
After volunteering awhile I slowly progressed to taking on more 'pressing' chores there and he no longer got walks. I miss him.
I had originally started walking him because he had the saddest eyes in his kennel. As you can see, he loved our walks.
I have never owned a large breed dog. I volunteered to work with cats. Large dogs can be intimidating to me. Especially when I dont know them and have to leash them out of a kennel in a room full of dogs going insane and walk them on my own. I have gotten more brave after walking Riddle.

Riddle is SUCH a good boy. He walks well on a leash, wants to potty outside, sits. He naturally heels after the initial excitement of being out of his crate. He gives hugs and would love to lay on someone's couch with them. He made me want to learn more about dog training and working with large dogs. He makes it easy.

Recently at the shelter I have noticed he has become so much more depressed and lost a lot of weight and rubbed his nose raw trying to get out. He is so so sad. 💔

I wish he could find the perfect home. He would make such a great companion for the right person. He is my favorite dog at the shelter. If my boys were a little older he would live with us.

He ended up at the shelter because he kept running away from his prior owners. They stopped coming to get him. He will need a home with underground electric fencing or a commitment to leash him on potty trips. He is powerful even while too thin (probably 10-20lbs thinner than these photos now🥺) and can most likely escape most above ground fencing unless very tall without foot holds.

He has been at the shelter almost 2 years now. TWO YEARS.

If you know anyone who loves big dogs with amazing dispositions looking for a new companion please share this post with them. It would make such a difference for this great dog. He doesn't seem dog aggressive but I have not tested it. He ignores other dogs at the shelter and while walking. He is friendly to every human he sees. He loads right back into the crate that is his prison cell with no resistance even though I know he doesn't want to. He is a good good boy.
He is interested in cats if seen on our walks. Not sure what he would do if he could reach them. I'd recommend a no cat home unless you have a way to keep seperate.
He is potty trained, loyal, beautiful and would guard your home like a champ and give you unconditional love.

He is available to adopt from PAWS in Fort Madison and his adoption fee is $180. Come out and meet him sometime and see what I mean.
He really needs someone. He needs love.

Lovebug is a 4 month old kitten and a total sweetheart. He loves to play. His fur is very soft. He would love a family who can provide some fun toys and enjoy watching his antics.
He is available for adoption through PAW Fort Madison Animal Shelter

Little Foster update 🥰

Lovebug continues to gain weight and become more playful.

Agni and Milton are doing good. They are both so sweet and genuinely enjoy affection and attention now.

Here is a video of Lovebug being frisky with a new toy. He had no idea what to do with it at first, but is now loving it 🥰

Meet Lovebug 🥰
He has the sweetest loving and calm disposition. His name is very fitting.

I'd guess him to be 13 weeks give or take.
He weighs 2.1lbs.

So now he is here for some special treatments for his lungs, skin, and to put some weight on. 🙂
I seriously adore him.

Here he is burritoed after a bath on the snuggle pad with the heater blowing.

Agni and Milton Update! 😽

They got a new hammock and they are stoked! They are so fun to watch while I work and they play so well together. Never any overt aggression or crying. Sometimes they snuggle but they often sleep apart as well. They are absolutely friends.

Two newest arrivals! Agni and Milton 😍
Agni is a male British longhair kitten I believe and guesstimate to be about 8 weeks old. Milton is a tabby male placed with him for companionship (kittens do best with a friend!) And he is around 10 weeks.

These babies had a very rough start with no mama and a rough journey. They sadly did not make it as a result of viral pneumonia - which takes many kittens. They were clean, fed, and loved before passing. They also taught me SO much and started this journey. I will forever remember them and hold them in my heart. 🖤🐾
